In the 5 stages of acceptance, I'm moving into the acceptance phase. I guess I'll be over here like "Yeah, there goes our Puerto Rican friends into the crematory."

So important to vote. Sent for absentee ballot for NH. Living in NY state.

No thanks. I’ll be in the 1/3 watching.

Funny how the ones who feel so safe are the first ones to be deleted!

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I agree. If you don’t vote it’s the same as voting Republican!

Voting is a sham. At this point it's how the government allows you to feel like you're still in control.

~1/3 of the country is ineligible to vote.
~1/3 of the country does not vote. <- These are the people you're trying to reach
~1/3 of the country does vote.
~1/6 of the country actually votes for the winner (about 17% of the population is choosing our leader)

OH WAIT! That's 17% IF the winner actually wins the popular vote. Out of our last 3 presidents only 1 actually won the popular vote too. So the system (not the majority will of the constituency) put the other guy in place 66% of the time.

Please prove to me how voting is the path out of this hell, because I don't see it.

When all your options have been denied and rendered useless, one must start some where!
Even if you feel it is a shit shame!

Civil war is next!

@of-the-mountain You're not talking about starting, you're talking about involving more people in a proven failed process. It's not about what I feel, it's about what the data tells me.

No I don't believe civil war is next. Our country is not divided 50/50 with little to no recourse for leadership that goes off the rails. Our country is divided between extremely vocal end-caps with a majority of people in the middle being good honest decent people who don't want to get involved in the political shitshow that is nothing but endless shit.

Leaders can't shut themselves off from the rest of the country and hide while forming a group to over throw the United States. Everyone tells everyone else every fucking thing they're doing on Twitter, there's no fucking way a small group could get large enough without anyone in power knowing. Since the morons are already in power, they don't want a civil war and if they try to turn the US into a true dictatorship they'd be arrested by their own party.

We'll probably stay just as we are until someone can figure out how to get money out of politics. Have fun voting. The Koch brothers don't own the political landscape because they get an "I Voted" sticker.

Ease up on the hyperbole, please. I get that both sides do it. The troubling part for me is that both sides do it just to be in opposition of the other side. Actual issues don't matter unless the other side takes a position, then they take the opposite side. Greeeeeeaaaaaat.

If you do not like do not respond!

Vote, lives do depend on ousting Republican rule. Their policies are killing people, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

We voted already.

YES! So Did I!

VOTE like your life, your future, your country depends on it!

We must remove these FASCIST from our government NOW!

I most certainly agree with the GO VOTE sentiment. I'd respectfully disagree with the "fascist coup" statement. I'll be voting conservative republican, as usual. What I'd really hope for is a centrist & balanced government.

Then WHY would you vote for republican conservatives????
They're allowing this bullshit. Hell, they're actively encouraging
this bullshit.
We're not going to get moderates or centrists as long as republicans still
control everything. There will be no "balance" as long as they're in power.

Yes! The root of our problems supporting those who do not help or actually care about you or your family!

I agree with this and your other posts, but maybe try not to slam us with so much stuff at once, right?

The republican Fascists do it every day!

So you are stating it is wrong for anyone who does not agree with their Fascist lies and actions should not display or react to their slander and overt criminal behavior!

I agree and approve of this OP.

Vote Republicans out of office!

Midterm elections are November 6, 2018.

While I really like your thoughts and comments on most topics @literateHiker, I respectfully disagree with you on this. But that's what makes our system of government work. Let's ALL vote, and then, try to come back together as a nation.
My wish & opinion only.

Americans do not seem to have a voice. They are learning, I hope. Vote! Our lives DO depend on it!
