Which one would you prefer in your life; catch up in person or mainly social media? Mine will always be the catch up in person.
Sure, if they're near enough.
In person is always best but they would have to be near enough to me.
I have always preferred in person. But at the same time, I have many friends who live in different states and countries. So Social Media is my only connector. So both have their values.
I agree with you
Depends on the person. I have some friends that live on the other side of the globe, so I am very grateful for social media and electronic communication.
I can go with that, plus I have some friends in California. They would have to need me for me to go there.
In person is always better of course, BUT, if I sit back for a second and just think what a wonderful thing the digital world is. Not long ago, (phrase used only by very old people), the idea that ordinary people like me would ever be able to afford even to make the occasional phone call across the Atlantic at less than great cost, would have seemed a outrageous piece of science fiction. (Look at the communications in the film 2001.) Yet just over a quarter century into the digital revolution I sit here, talking, exchanging texts, photos, videos and even trivia with people all across the world every day via a site like this, and think it normal. Amazing!
I prefer in person but we have to keep communication channels open, be it social media or a phone.
In person, but only if we have common interest,,,, such as thoughts and philosophy.
In person is preferable as you are given a huge amount of body language to more accurately evaluate and communicate with another (subtle facial expressions, voice intonation changes, etc.) Makes communication much easer to analyze. For me, this is not an option as my proximity to nobody (female) within a reasonable range lives within the domain of this service.
I've done both.
Each had it's good and bad.
Sometimes the person you meet is not at all what they seem on line.
But I did get to meet a few friends a few years ago from an old site we all belonged to, and we were all pleasantly surprised at just how much we all were just as we thought we were.
We still get together usually once a year.
It's a little hard because we all live fairly far away, but very much worth the trip.
