If it's not cheating to list musicals that were made into movies, "West Side Story" is my favorite, followed by "Chicago." Too many good ones to list in this genre.

I like most of Ennio Morricone's scores, but my favorite is for "Once Upon a Time in America." "Gabriel's Oboe" from "The Mission" is one of his most lovely songs.

The theme for the "Mission Impossible" movies was adapted from the TV series, which is my favorite TV show theme by Lalo Schifrin.

I was impressed with the music and the movie, "Broken Circle Breakdown" featuring a Flemish / Belgian Bluegrass band. Yes, really. Excellent. BTW, a main character is an outspoken atheist, and the scene of him ranting on God is superb and heartrending.

The colaboration of Hanns Zimmer, and Lisa Gerrard was amazing.
They had so many pieces with such feeling and depth.

The first Underworld soundtrack was, if I recall, a pretty small project headed up largely by Wes Borland and Maynard, Milla Jovovich has a nice song on there.

Beetlejuice. Love me some early Danny Elfman and Harry Belafonte.

Stay Tuned, pretty nice showcase of early nineties underrated rap with a Salt N Pepa track towards the end.

The Highlander soundtrack, which is basically the Queen album A Kind of Magic. For that matter, the Flash Gordon soundtrack.

Mirrormask, done largely by Iain Bellamy. Theres a cover of Close to You where a woman sings four part harmony with herself.

I like the orchestral ones. Thomas Newman's stuff from the 90s is especially good; Fried Green Tomatoes, How to Make an American Quilt, The Horse Whisperer, Oscar and Lucinda. I love James Horner's Braveheart and Glory. Other favorites, The English Patient has done beautiful clarinet stuff. So much pretty!
