So you wouldn't mind meeting a guy but you only get to choose them online from pix.
Do you pick one with a full face of white beard? Or a clean shaven guy? Or maybe one with 5 o'clock shadow? Preferences?
Personally I don't like men with full beards and think it ages them 20+ years which makes them unattractive to me.

Stubble is just scratchy! Beards look good & are fun to play with.

Guess it depends. I prefer a small amount of stubble, but not a full beard looking like ZZ Top, or Grizzly Adams. Clean shaven is fine too. To me, it depends on how the guy carries himself, and his mind--how he uses it is what gets my interest.

I am fine with facial hair that looks cleaned and shaped and trimmed. A wild, shaggy beard is a turn-off, though. I always get the impression that a man is hiding behind it.

I check the smile, and if the eyes are in sync with the smile.

but i WOULD mind. i would never choose based on a picture. as for beards, it's a matter of who's wearing it. i cannot possibly vote here.

With paid dating sites, we all choose based on a combo of looks and profile, but I suspect that with many people, esp. attractive-looking women, that if the person's main photo isn't attractive enough, the profile never gets viewed. I base that on my own experience as well as what others have shared on this site. By paid sites, I mean ones unlike this that are only about dating.

And many of us are not chosen at all based on our political activism that shines light inside their closets

@GreenAtheist I doubt people on paid sites are that deep thinking and discriminating enough to bother screening people out based on that, but believe what you like. How do you really know why someone rejects you on a site, unless they volunteer it or you ask? Even then, they often lie about the reason if they feel it makes them look bad or shallow. So most of the time, we have no idea.

@TomMcGiverin no each one of them told me they were not "people person" nor matching my energy level. ...even exaggeration we are from different planets. ...I agree some might have said such hiding different reasoning. ...it's not "shallow" to be coy. ...I am a giant 6'5" tall and most women want someone only slightly taller. ...too few are tiny like my MARY TODD marrying me politically like Abe Lincoln

I could go for any option....depending on how well he wore it! ?

I love facial hair on men, it also depends on how they wear it and how clean they keep it

One of the many reasons why I don't do online dating. For me, personality and attitude is more important than looks.

I'd rather be single for the rest of my life than choose a partner based solely on a photo!

My view is that it is shallow to rule someone out or in based on facial hair. It is the person underneath that matters.

It's really in the eyes and smile for me. But as far as facial hair or not, I prefer facial hair. A nice beard and mustache or goatee. My skin prefers soft facial hair as well!

I never date guys I am not gay so it's all up to those involved. ....I will shave for she who chooses me or grow my beard white for she who loves my soft tickly beard. ...I will use henna to make it red like when I was 23 when my daughter was born if my future lover wants to show me off as youthful

One who rocks whatever facial hair or lack of it he prefers. Facial hair is not permanent - can be changed at the flick of a blade.

I preferred my ex with a neat mustache and beard, but he would shave it off for several months of the year (when it got hot and for better snorkel mask seal) and he was the same man underneath. He just got more attention from the ladies with his beard/mustache. He knew he looked cuter with his facial hair, and would pursue the attention he'd get, so it was better for our relationship that he looked a bit homely some months. 😉

For a new relationship - as long as I can see his eyes and a smile, it's all good.

I was going to add to mine and this was it!

I really like a neat beard and mustache too.

the big question is what do you prefer

Facial hair is only a very small issue
