For awhile seemed like Peru was a hotspot to retire.
Late dh & I used to toss around the idea of going to New Zealand...before the earthquakes of course.

Many countries like Americans - and the money they carry - Italy is good and decent weather most of the time, but watch out for the earthquake areas

I live in Washington, on the coast. We love the earthquakes. Scares the hell out of visitors.
I live in the Tsunami zone on the coast.

@PondartInc ...there’s gonna be one yur not going to love.. 9+, ‘the worst disaster in US history.’ It’s why I cleared out from Oregon. The coast from BC Canada to Mendocino ridge in CA will be wiped out, inland will be shook to shit.. And, yur in the zone 😕

@Varn Got my dirt bike loaded with two months of supplys. I've been ready. I just don't know if I will be healthy enough to ride.
I will be out of town in a flash.

@Varn The ridge off the coast is only thirty feet. That means the wave will be no taller.
You don't have to leave the coast. Just get to higher ground.
And the rumble zone off the coast will stop and lock and the UW labs will alert us.

@PondartInc Keep in mind, the coast is currently ‘pushed up,’ from the subducting Juan de Fuca plate. When that plate snaps loose (bound at the moment), the coastline will sink, substantially! Thus the predicted ‘sunami levels’ are likely way off..

I’ve my father and brother at the OR coast ..nearly moved there myself … before a local suggested I look into ‘what’s going to cause that sunami.’ Into geology, I did. Terrifying!

A dirtbike would be about the only thing that could navigate what will be left of the local roads, inland as well.. You’d have around 20 minutes to get to higher ground, if not surrounded by a ‘new shallow bay.’ Both my daughters are still ‘inland,’ with plans of moving from OR. I wouldn’t have feared so much for my life ..as the total loss of property value.. given the regions sky-rocketing cost of land & living.

Hey, I’d not mentioned it yet, but look into the country of Belize. Least populated Central American nation, a protectorate of Britain, English speaking, inexpensive, cheap medical care next door in Mexico … with wonderful coastline or inland opportunities. Or, stay here and help us fight! We can always use another road warrior with a dirtbike 😉

After two yers of Trump is there any such place left?

Our governments treat us like livestock and those borders are our fences. They don't want some diseases to spread around like love, freedom, solidarity, democracy. They always want more free trade agreements and more freedom of movement for merchandise and money. But for people, it's walls, bullets and bombs.

Good luck with Trump being president!

Puerto Rico. They love gringos.
But I don't recommend this crappy island.

Our president may have forgotten, but I’m pretty sure Puerto Rico is still part of the US.

@Haemish1 Actually, no. According to the "insular cases" of SCOTUS, PR is not "a part" of USA, but merely a possession of USA. […."it belongs to, but is not part of..."]

@Haemish1, @Allamanda As I wrote in another post, PR is the land of mediocrity, corruption and parasitism. Too many puertorricans behave like cavemen and troglodytes. Disorder, noise, lawlessness and disrespect are our "daily bread".
But, to be fair, a LOT of people, both puertorricans and gringos, disagree with me. So, maybe I am wrong.
Anyway, I don't like it here.

@COGITOERGOSUM
Sure, Puerto Rico is a protectorate of the US, but is part of the commonwealth, and with respect to the original post, any US citizen can freely move to or from Puerto Rico without the need for any governmental permission.

They may hate Americans as a group, but most people will like you individually. Unless you are a dick. I recommend Holland.

I try not to be a dick. But I have been living among the dicks for so long, I may be.

5

erm... its the hating Americans thing. Come to UK. We hate everyone equally 😉

@Allamanda me you mean?.😉

@Allamanda I'm not surprised Americans are disliked. Some of us act like gibbons.

@PondartInc Well I was married to one for 22 years and have 3 American children

..had felt the same… Good luck qualifying to get in one. Apparently, ‘we’ can’t simply jump another one’s border 😕

Maybe you can stay and help make it better. Vote drump out.

Trump is a symptom of the problem. The USA is in big trouble.

This is a very big question. Before you move anywhere else I would make sure that you are able to do so with total freedom of choice and money enough to make it all work. In many areas an "ex-pat" as you would be called has to come back to the USA periodically in order to continue collecting their USA benefits and money. I, for one, cannot afford to do this.

You don't. I am British, my ex is American and we still have money in USA. He has a full US pension when he gets to 65 years. My friend had a military pension and a US pension and he has lived in UK since he was in his 30s. I think you are meant to file taxes and you are meant to turn up at the embassy in case of the draft but no, your money can be claimed anywhere. Come to UK
