A 10% drop in Christians and a 9% rise in "religious non affiliated".
But that doesn't mean not believing in god or spirits. For a lot of believers christianity is either too restrictive old-timey and uncool. But they still cling...
Agonistism and athemism both rose a couple of percentage points.
But what i found most funny is that the group that had the largest change from beliving to nonbelieving are...Democrats! Lol...jee I wonder what happened in the last few years that may have caused that.

If I read this correctly..... 1% of our population identifies as Muslim. 2% identifies as Jewish.
And yet, our politicians and news media seem to focus on the positives & negatives of these two groups.

The intent of my post below was to offer some background on PEW. I did and it spurred further dialogue and more background came out. That's a good thing. As my peers here reminded us that what is written by the subject about themselves is not always sufficient and deeper digging is necessary. Job done.

Yes an no, any belief system based group that starts shrinking, tends to become more uniform and thus radicalizing.
If strong secular movements are not in place to counter it, the radicalization of smaller groups can be more harmful than hegemony of a moderate group.

It is my experience that websites (or entities in general) do not tend to be totally up-front about negative aspects of themselves. I follow the "sugar coating leads to truth decay" 'philosophy'

I didnt have an opinion. I was just offering bsckground.
The Pew family was an ultra conservative right wing religious family!
Their views have established criminal style restraints and voter type suppression tactics to name a few of their right wing strategies and religious practices.
Their efforts brought about our entry into WWI, help to surpress fre speech, freedom of assembly, and
anti war criminalization.
The outlawing of Hemp as an industrial product.
They were in support of the industrialist who financed Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin up to the start of WWII!
It looks like another wolf with sheep skins!
Like the Federalist who are pushing all these right wing conservative judges who are in reality just Fascists masquerading as religious conservatives!!

I can't believe that there are people who honestly believe in the FSM. I'm sure some claim they are believers, but I hope no one is actually that ignorant.
@Eazyduzzit Totally concur. I am also friends with an ordained FSM person There is also a documentary coming out on the growth of belief in it called: I, Pastafari: A Flying Spaghetti Monster Story.

@Eazyduzzit Even when I was particularly smitten with the FSM and Prophet Bobby's teachings, I described myself as a follower, not a believer. To this day, I find a bit of joy when I come across a reference to His Noodliness.
@synergy I have preached amount his goodness, but it's all in keeping the humor alive. I'm just hoping it doesn't turn into a real religion like Scientology or Mormonism.
