A simple syllogism- if evil exists there cannot be a god both benevolent and all powerful

Some say God gives us a choice - so he permits evil- not benevolent

God does give you a choice and if you do not do what he says you are going to hell. This is a leftover from his OT days when he loved the smell of burned meat.

God has a loop hole here to continue in his old ways but believers have none.

This old thing again?

Depends on what you mean by benevolent.

@Gwendolyn2018 Things are never that simple. Even if we could agree on what benevolent means, we would have a world of disagreements when trying to label different acts with that label.

I like that - thanks!

There are also parts of the bible that state that its 'god' creates evil!
