I might have fucked up on Facebook, ya’ll. Oh well, see who disappears this time🙄.
I lost my temper and fired off a screed about how Xtians are NOT ‘oppressed’. One too many memes on how god must be returned to the schools or some such bullshit. I pointed out that when I was practicing as a pagan, there was some oppression: death threats, protestors.

What is oppression to you? What does it mean? Personally, I think Xtians are just mad that THEY can’t oppress others.

Tell them to make a quick count around towm of all the "Christian" churches and affiliations. Then have them count all theatheist ones. Now you can tell them the STFU.

I did say, come talk after you go to church through sign-carrying protestors who are screaming at you...which will be: never.

They might define "oppressed" as "no longer in control," too, without understanding the whole premise. I steer WAY clear of this argument, as people who make this claim are ready and willing to ignore the point of all kinds of other arguments or movements, too - such as the #MeToo thing or the #BlackLivesMatter thing.

I have yet to find a way to reason with people like this.

There’s not a way...that’s why I went off on a rant. Sad state of affairs.

@K9Kohle789 They either don’t know(ignorant) or won’t admit(willfully ignorant) the facts of their own religion and its history. I realized that before age 12: and what a statement that is...12 year old ME had read enough history to understand and ask questions that adults couldn’t or wouldn’t answer?

@K9Kohle789 Another good one: did they know how many tripe-aspect gods there are since the dawn of time? That parent-child-spirit is NOT unique?

Or: what do they think of the Council of Nicea?

Yeah, crickets and confused looks. Or I was just condemned as full-o-satan 😂😂😂

Thank you; interesting read.

Sounds like your rebuttal to typical bullying behavior of Christians mad when they can't be the oppressor then claiming to be oppressed. Will probably come with some blowback.

3

Sad thing is xtians are not oppressed, because they're to busy oppressing others. They haven't been oppressed in decades. Wouldn't worry about it. They deserve what they get.

3

i get put in face book jail for my fuck ups I follow lots of political stuff and the stupidity gets to me occasionally or I plan trumps demise and I unfollow ppl all the time when they piss me off

I hear you. I hate the orange Menace.

@CarolinaGirl60 this generation is so lazy I can't find a sharp shooter willing to sit on a grassy knoll

@whiskywoman Lol, too lazy to Google What a Democratic Socialist is, much less do a bit of a shenanigan!

Religious nutters all regard themselves as being oppressed when they are prevented from ramming their particular god down other people's throats.

They often resort to threats of violence when they are forced to use their (God-given, hence non-existent) brains.

3

They think everyone has to be an extian. Just like Muslims. How about we put prayer back into churches. That would have prevented church shootings, by golly!

3

Christians are the majority and in general dominant class in most of western countries.
there are 2 big economies that are not christian, China and Japan. How the dominand class of the world is oppressed?

2

I personally think family is very important, so I can't ax out Christians, but yea, I think thoughts and prayers... wtf is that going to do?

2

They're certainly not oppressed, they can say anything they want still, but the difference is people actually disagree with them more openly now. There are dissenting voices, and they choose to interpret people disagreeing with them as oppression.

Oppression to me implies fear of more than just someone disagreeing with you for voicing what you feel is the truth. They don't have to fear physical harm or being ostracized, their voices are not silenced.

2

Well, in the former USSR, Christians were oppressed indeed. In other countries they might not be. In some Muslim countries Christians may suffer some oppression as well. In Christian countries like the US or Ireland I don't believe they are. If there's some sort of it locally, in certain parts, perhaps. You might not have fucked up. The Internet gave freedom to share ideas, unfortunately for the good and for the bad. No matter what, you'll always offend someone or find something offensive to you.

2

Your last sentence says it all.

They are Pissed off that they don't rule everyone forcing their beliefs on all of us

you have hear so don't worry about it

2

Fucked up? more likely you just told them like it is, and they did not like it . . . . I give them hell all the time, if they don't like it, they can get the hell off my timeline.

Yup, the trash takes itself out!

Well, in the Big Picture... if you have actual PARENTS instead of an adult or two raising you without being responsible, then of course religion is a threat. But when you have real parents instead of just grown children old enough to reproduce, there is no mechanism including mandatory schools with religious component that can influence your child since YOU have already done this to protect your child. That is the principal downfall in most every problem today... no personal responsibility. It is not the responsibility for schools to raise your children, but adult children are happy for the schools to take over this responsibility in shaping their children, much to the detriment of society.

Christians, as well as many other groups, are privileged and have been for a long time, they just don't realize it. The danger is expressed in a quote I read recently: The lost of privilege feels like oppression. When you feel oppressed you don't engage in self reflection or philosophical debate - you react with revenge, a no-holds-barred attitude, and violence.

Yes, they do. The ones in my family vociferously object to the WORD ‘privilege’. 🙄

1

I think many Christians see losing their privilege as persecution. When someone else gains a right they've enjoyed for generations, they see it as a loss of religious freedom.

I agree. They must fear having the tables turned on them, too. Even the possibility is unthinkable to them.

1

I come here to vent and work hard to not argue on Facebook. Sometimes it hurts not responding to some of the dumbest things I see on FB

1

I usually use the line ' why do children get molested in church's? Do you think he got 86'd from there too?

1

Nailed it.

1

We know they're not oppressed, but some of them feel they are in some areas of society. It's pointless to rant unless it's helpful for you to get something off your chest. But you're not changing any minds, and you're breaking an unwritten rule... No politics and religion on Facebook. Yes they break the rules, but two wrongs don't make a right. Good luck!

1

I agree. Their minds are warped.
Xtians want to oppress others like they were from an early age.
They cannot conceive of another, a freer reality.
If I had no respect or autonomy, then it is outrageous for others to have that.
So they claim their religion is oppressed by seculars and others.

0

Oppression? That would be my last job. Admitted white supremacist.

Really? What changed you?

@CarolinaGirl60 Not me. My employer.

@CarolinaGirl60 They ask your religion, political party and ethnic background when you are hired.
I had twelve years experience so they hired me and treated me like shit. Forced me to listen to Rush Limbaugh until some very small washers ended up in the radio. Don't have a clue how that happened.

@PondartIncbendog I see.
I lost a job during my pagan years; another ‘reason’ was fabricated, but my paganism was the true cause.
