As a Councellor to Children and Youths I have seen and helped far more people than I care to count after they have bee EXPOSED to religions, especially Christianity.
Without exception they come to me in a complete confused, dishevelled ( mentally/psychologically) state so often under the impression that, as the Priests/Ministers, etc, and the Bible tells them, they are Worthless, Sinful, Detestable by God creatures even though they are ardent Church Goers as are their families.
Ever so many of them actually live in utter fear and dread of punishment from God that will strike them down at any moment and some are children as young as 8 or 10 years of age and some of the older youths have continuous and serious thoughts of Suicide in the hope of simply escaping those fears and dreads.
So asks yourselves, please, What kind of Next Human Generations is it that Religions are creating?
Are Religions just repeating and refining the Terrors, Fears and Dreads they imposed upon the peoples from the times of the Dark Ages and up until the last 100 or so years?

Work of fiction. Believe at your own risk.

  • and the risk of others

Should be on church doors too...

Book filed under fiction.

It's listed under silly, random and fun - it's a good meme. It is all of those warnings but there are some good ways to live your life, mostly I took this as a joke - tongue in cheek.

Exposure to content does not necessarily make one believe in that content.

@jperlow -- that of course depends upon the maturity of the mind being exposed and in what manner.

Wow. somebody on this site actually disagrreed? I guess soem people cant' help but to be contrary...

Yes, I disagree with the exposure label.

Agree with the overall sentiment. Disagree that 'homosexuality' belongs on the same list as 'incest' and 'bestiality.'

(I haven't voted... yet.)

@NicoleCadmium OK, I disagree with that part too.

The exposure warning is what I primarily disagree with. If it is ALL you are exposed to, perhaps.

It says "may cause", not "will cause." You disagree with that?

Yes I do, actually. Writing doesn’t cause any of those things.

The issue I have is that it is accepted as the word of god. An other book is there to be read and thought about. But this little unknown gathering of biased scrolls and very absurd meaning is taken as devine. We just need to stop using it as someone/s fact and discuss it as a complete bunch of shit.

Realest shit. It's the same with food, where do you draw the line perhaps we should start labeling people toxic too. The fact of the matter is people should be able to use critical thinking, free enquiry, skeptism, science, reason & logic. All tools that are there to be used if a person chooses to neglect them its a shame but that's the world we live in not everyone will understand and grasp, how to use maths, science, nutrition, free speech and all these things that can be capatilised on but it's for the wise person to take advantage of the things that matter most to them. So let the hazards of this world winnow out the weak and stupid after all that is natural selection. While they are wasting time reading the bible, study something productive.

Well, to be fair if you don't read every passage, it is not so bad.

Respectufully, I cannot agree with that view.

They hype it as the greatest story ever told. But it's a story. And not even that great, if you ask me.

I'm a sucker for far out fantasy, but this stuff isn't even well written.

@Donotbelieve even the never ending story ?? It's got dragons in it !!

It's not even a coherent story. Just read the four gospels and tell me who was present when Jesus left the tomb.

When you look at the treatment of the women/girls, this isn't someone I want to have any influence on my life. Look at Tamar, daughter of David. Her brother raped her, and she was punished. There are so many more.

I'd also scribble out the part "In the beginning" and replace it with: "once upon a time."
