This passage is particularly interesting. We learn that god is not all knowing as he made a mistake. We learn that god has "human" emotions. We also learn that god makes mistakes and does not care about humans, animals or the earth. It is amazing to me that when I was a Christian when I read this it did not register. God was all knowing, loving etc. I just glossed over these types of passages and knew god would open my eyes at some later time to its meaning.
