I'm against lock downs in general. I'd like to see N95s easily available to all Americans. I also think we need a nation-wide mask mandate.

No, just go out & hug & cough all over everybody, it'll be fine...according to our current "leadership" in DC

Just like water it is impossible to contain!!!

I think we should be contact tracing and locking down in a targeted way.
But that's all but impossible thanks to the Son of a bit... I mean Son of God in the White House.
Son of God because God is imaginary and this MF thinks he's divine.

I think we need to go into lockdown. Get the breeders out of the schools, yes all the kidlets. I WFH now and love it. My daughter's new job has her in the office and she has now had 3 covid tests because of coworkers coming down with the virus. Lets all go WFH when we can, back to essential employees in the offices as it was. More jobs need to make changes to keep workers safe. We need a short term UBI (uniform basic income) for all so we can stay home to stay safe. Our hospitals are FULL. If we wait too long we will pass the point of no return, if we haven't already.

Sure, I love working from home or anywhere remotely.

As soon as airlines and countries open up, I will go to some nice place like Bali or Goa and work from there. With Dollars in the bank and spending in local currency, it will the best time of life.

Seems like a fair and clear choice: People or Profits ? Lock it down where-ever necessary. Geez - look at all the reactive stuff people did after the 911 attack. That was 3,000 people. This has killed more than
1,304, 871 people throughout the world (251, 901 in the US) and you can't get them to even wear a mask.

People won’t even wear masks. How many do you think would pay attention to a lockdown? They refused to stay out of their churches. They refused to separate and stay off of beaches. Couldn’t help having large parties with no attempt at socially distancing. So how much use would a National lockdown be?

It worked in the UK, reducing the daily death rate from an average of 380 per day to 8 per day.
Unfortunately it was then relaxed completely almost literally overnight and now we are back up to nearly 400 per day.
But that's capitalism, profit and property will always matter more than that infinitely replaceable and cheap commodity lives .
People say a lockdown will infringe on their freedom, well such people should feel free to fucking die, but if the infect others then the rest of us should be free to charge the bastards with attempted and actual murder

@LenHazell53 I feel the British are much more adaptable to sacrifice than the Americans. Even with the generational shifts. Look, you guys still support a monarchy with your tax dollars that serves no real purpose other than window dressing and news fodder. Over here basic health care for all is considered a communist plot to take over the country. Did I mention. Your educational system is much better too?

The term "lock down" was chosen by the right-wing because it has a negative connotation. It comes from prison lingo.

That being said, YES, the US should have a period of serious general quarantine to stop the rampant propagation of the virus. According to experts, 2 or 3 weeks should do it.

NO it doesn't.
A lockdown (noun) originally was a merchant seaman's term for a securing of cargo, to prevent damage by movement during a storm.
To lock down (verb) has been taken and used by the prison service but was a military term dating from the middle ages meaning to place a fort or castle in to a state of defence against a perceived threat from outside as opposed to a lock up for containing a threat from within.

Yes, but I don't really think we've ever done as much as we could have and should have done and I don't think we will because as a general comment, Americans do not care about each other. Not really.

Trump says he won't lockdown in this administration. I don't know about any other...We shall see. I won't do it.

"I won't do it."
Then you're an idiot and a selfish bastard.
I make no apologies for stating a fact.

@LenHazell53 Hopefully you're referring to the lame duck president.
