So, that was fun... I just got a phone call, I answered it, and it's a recording robotic voice saying something along the lines of "if you don't press one, you will breaking the law, and will be arrested".

So I wait. And the recording eventually hangs up.

LOL...

I press 1, I get some dude with a heavy Indian accent, they identify as FBI, may I help you? My reply is always yes you may help me. Inevitably their answer is some mumbo jumbo about my ss and my taxes and how they have issued an arrest warrant unless I pay a fine, so I say OMG no please There is something you can do for me right now before I give you the payment data. So the fake agent says, sure what can I do for you? You can use the phone you have in your hand and stick it up your ass!

I got one where the robot said, "Your call is important to us please hold the line." Hmmm so as I was watching Alien at the time I just put the phone near the speaker turned the volume up and didn't go back to it until the end of the movie. No idea if a human ever got on the other end and what they thought was going on.

I' gotten phone calls saying I'm in trouble with Social Security and am about to be arrested . It's been over fifty years since the last time I made an SS payment , and I will never qualify for SS retirement as I went with a different retirement system .

I have SS retirement and the scammers keep wanting me to give them the info. They claim in an accented voice that "my account is monitored and they have noticed unusual activity." Too dumb to know that none of this is true. You have SS numbers and you get payments. That's about all that is ever monitored. It is not a debit card system.

Watching scammers get frustrated by tech savvy people on YouTube, is hilarious.

Scams are nothing new. What is new relatively speaking is how easily money can be transferred electronicly. So contacting people to con them out of information electronicly would naturally increase. My wife once attempted to turn in some of the scam calls she received repeatedly on her cell phone. She was told that plenty of them come from outside the country where they are beyond the reach of law enforcement. The "Nigerian Prince" who used to contact you by e-mail now has a cell phone and has learned how to highjack phone numbers so he can bypass being blocked.

Let us know if you need any bail money. We could do a fundraiser for you.😉

The number of scam calls seems to escalating every day. We use a blocking service for robo-calls, but they still get through. It is both saddening and disgusting that the morality of so many people was sunk so low.

It truly is sad how many people would rather scam others than be responsible and provide for themselves!!

Fear is a strong motivator, so this scam probably works once in a while in getting someone to reveal personal info so they can get scammed.
