I Am Not Agnostic Atheist. Just Atheist.

I don't want to be to rash here, but I don't only just not believe in God, but I am pretty certain God doesn't exist. Meaning I am not agnostic about whether or not a God exists. Because the word God to me refers to nothing meaningful or something in relation to what exists. I have found no useful definition for the word God in the human language, all I can gather is that people use the word God to refer to anything they want. Which further makes it impossible to even consider feasible or something possible. I look at the overwhelming evidence of a Universe and Nature that is devoid of any evidence of God, and conclude God doesn't exist. Because the absence of evidence is the evidence of absence. I don't see how God would be even possible in the equation. So I don't believe in a remote possibilty for God existing no.

I am not agnostic about the possibility of fairies at the end of the garden, so it makes zero sense to me to be agnostic about the possibility of gods.

If someone were to say to you that they not only don't believe in god(s) or higher power(s) but they are pretty certain god(s) or higher power(s) don't exist then would they be an agnostic atheist?

@AtheistForLife yes, you are "pretty certain" ergo you are an agnostic atheist, lol.

@AtheistForLife I completely concur with your stance.

I like Dave Allen's take on the matter..

@AtheistForLife Back in 1986 while running around a corner at the junction of Kennsington Chuch Street and Kennsington High Street in London, I literally ran into him on the street and we both ended up on our ass on the street...LOL

“agnostic” might also be defined as “against knowledge,” more in line with the original/site definition, fwiw; “not gnostic,” iow

also, you might just be slowly coming to the understanding of how to pronounce AEOU or something…since YHWH arent our vowels, but hebrew, transliterated. Also their holy-of-holies was an empty room? Point being that there is a guide for right where you are at, that we allow “believers” to interpret for us. Best wishes on your walk

Agnostics are fencesitters who like to keep the option open to argue with both sides.

Let me see if I understand you. You say there is a word for which you can find no reliable definition...

and...

you are certain the thing the word refers to doesn’t exist...

because...

you don’t know what the word refers to.

Do I have that right?

@AtheistForLife
Ok, so... if you don’t have a clue what they mean by God, upon what do you base your certainty that God doesn’t exist?

@AtheistForLife
“ I am certain that the very concept of God assigns...”

What concept of God?

Join the non-superstitious club. Except that I liked to read bedtime stories about Peter Pan and Tinker Bell (and insisted on keeping up the tooth fairy tradition) for my strongly atheist children.

I am not agnostic about the Biblical God, whatever that character is supposed to be it’s contradictory and frequently broke it’s own God rules at least according to the Bible. So no way it exist as defined.
Perhaps if there’s an inter dimensional pan galactic hyper intellectual being with sci-fi level abilities that we discover sometime in the future we might consider God like.
I have no evidence for or against such a being so I leave a slim chance something like that might exist, for all we know there could be an entire civilization of such beings, perhaps in the Virgo Super cluster of galaxies.
But the Gods of human religions are collectively a fucking joke, especially the one the Abrahamic religions enslaved humanity with.

@AtheistFirLife I agree with you. Don't listen to any of these abusive agnostics. You don't have to prove anything. Let the theists prove existence of a supreme being. They can't. In absence of their "proof", you have a right to assert that there is no fucking god. All these people claiming you have no evidence and their bullshit of endless diatribes. They all can go fuck themselves.

@AtheistForLife Give it some time. You will get the usual suspects constantly challenging you to show evidence of your non-belief. They will go on and on. After endless threads, I either don't answer them, block them or tell them to fuck off. It might not be nice but it usually puts to rest an annoying, insufferable, never ending discussion.

Your definition of god may not exist. Invisible pasta in the sky with meatballs may really not be there.

Word Level 8 Aug 15, 2021

@AtheistForLife God defined as a word of open definition and usage, in that any person could give any usage or define it in any way, whether logical, provable, real, surreal or not.

There are some things labeled by this word that have more popularity than others. There are groups of people that give a certain definition to this word that they agree on and follow for that group. There are those that would say there is nothing in existence that this word would properly label.

There are those that do not have evidence for a reason to label anything with this word. There are those that could never know what to label with this word.

A very uncommon word for how it is used comes from Germanic origin of meaning to call or invoke and now in fact exist as a word in English spelt with the letters G, O, and D.

so what. hot air.

@AtheistForLife theres no evidence of anyone seeking your opinion, yet here you are reaching out. act of faith that is. insecure aetheism might be more your style.

Geez, this is pretty strong stuff.

What evidence do you have for there being no gods?

@waitingforgodo
Wrong question. What evidence is there for the existence of a god, that cannot be disproved? Primitive superstition attributed thunder, lightning and rainbows to "god". - Disproved.
Genesis - Disproved.
Creationism - Disproved.
Every attempt to maintain the myth of a "god" is eventually disproved by scientific discoveries.

@Petter but the point might be that if one refuses to define God, “existence” really becomes secondary. For instance do you have feelings? Can you prove they “exist?”

@bbyrd009 I suggest using a brain scan to prove their existence.

@Petter well sure, you may certainly resist seeing the point however you like 🙂

Thank you for explaining your position clearly, that is the important thing. You will find that here on this site, few of the more long term members care much anyway, what people choose to label themselves, atheist, agnostic atheist, humanist, agnostic, sceptic, non-believer etc. etc. even if you miss use the labels, (a few pedants but not many), in part because the exact meaning of the labels has been debated so many times it is now regarded as boring. The main thing is that you have rejected religion and especially its dogma, and that is OK with most of us..

2

You will find that here abouts the labeling argument comes around as regular as Sundays.
Likewise the "Atheist but spiritual" bullshit
