A pastor told me today that he is sorry that I have not felt the love of god. Pastor, I am the one who is sorry.
I'm sorry you believe a god who does not seem interested in loving everyone.
I'm sorry you feel the need to apologize for this "all loving" creator.
I'm sorry your religion would have you believe people are incapable of loving each other without this watch-dog divinity.
I'm sorry your happiness in this life relies on hope of the next.
I'm sorry you can't see that we don't need a god to be good, or loved.
I'm sorry for all the wonder your faith would have you ignore in favor of fairy tales.
For all the confusion in doctrine.
For lies of zealouts.
For the guilt brought on by your own humanity.
For all the delusions your mind has been forced through fear to accept, you have my deepest sympathies.

Dear pastor, believe me, I have felt God's love. No, thank you! I'm so much better off without it.

According to Christianity, the Holy Spirit is the one who leads you to God. So if you haven't felt the love of God, it stands to reason that God the Third (holy spook) wasn't sent to make you aware of it. It also stands that in that case, God the First (Pappy G) didn't send #3 (Holy Casper) so you can have a necrophilia relationship with God, Part Deux (Jesus), and is therefore sending you to hell b/c he wants you there.

Critical Thinking - just another of Satan's evil ploys to steal your soul!!!

I would find it hard to worship a being who demands a higher morale standard then he holds to himself. Even if he did exist.

sounds like a real politician

@Xena unfortuntely they do exist.

Yeah, actually. It was really hard.

Your god's an asshole.

I agree, completely......look at what he did to his son!!!

If there is a God, a superior being, then for me, to personally accept them, they have to be totally uninvolved with humanity. More like the Eastern religions which are more spiritual interconnectedness. If there is an Abrahanic god, then I don't want anything to do with such an asshole. If he has the power, supposedly does, to cure sick kids, war and all else, then he should or he is simply a dick. Thus, I would hope if there is some greater force, it does not have the power to interfere. Maybe as the Buddhists believe the universe was formed (Big bang) and then developed its way and will one day end (The big crush) and then hit the repeat button.

The all powerful god cannot intervene as it would screw up his perfect plan. This is why prayer doesn't work.

I don't know, I have no proof, but I know I loved my mother when she was here. It's all about Mom's.....we are their lives. Most men don't want kids, they have kids to keep the woman happy. If you don' t give a woman a kid, they will dump you and find someone that will. Woman have to have their little babies. It's their destiny, part of feeling whole. And kids give us purpose. It's pretty amazing when you look at teh sky at night. It's all pretty magical. We are here to learn, we are here for a reason, not sure what the reason is at times.....but I do know life is more fun when you have a load of money and gorgeous woman hanging on your left arm.

God loves everyone but he really loves stupid people there are so many of them.

It’s a non-apology, it is an attempt to shame you into drinking his cool-aid.

4

The attempt of religion to brainwash the masses is basically well-represented in Star Trek by The Borg: "Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated".

HA! I have ALWAYS referred to the godbots as "The Borg"

If I feel the love of God, it better be consensual...

They don't realise that is actually a pretty mean thing to say.

And creepy...

What he really meant to tell you is he missed your money in the offering plate! Listen to a song by Johnnie Paycheck called, "The outlaws prayer", this was written about a true story of his adventures into the annals of church, in Fort Worth Texas, it pretty well says it all!

I'll have to listen to it myself. I'm from Texas myself that's why. Hehe ? Take care.

@ScienceVids Yes listen to it it's about when he was doing a package show in Fort Worth! If I knew how to post it here I surely would...

This post is brilliant , really I have nothing add it. I think of the concept of the Saviour dying for my sins, I ask myself the burning question how that relieve me responsibility

for my own actions

the human species is bright and curious we have great potential so says Carl Sagan

Well written and logical. I recall a Jewish man some years ago interviewed on radio. He was a holocaust survivor. He said that if this is what it meant to be God's chosen people, let him choose another!

Totally and completely agree! Can't say anymore.

Very. Well. Put. Bravo!

This is beautifully written! I agree with you 100000%

I'm so sorry for you. One day you will see the light. You must believe that this too is part of God's divine plan. You're young... You'll understand more when you're older. You need to have faith. God will reveal himself when you're ready to see.

Anyone else sick of condescending holy men's tired cliches?

I'm so sorry for you. One day you'll see reality. You must know that there is no obvious plan. You'll understand more when you're wiser. You need to have knowledge. A better understanding of the universe will be revealed when you're ready to accept demonstrable facts.

Keita Level 5 July 8, 2018

I think that because we have a better understanding of the universe is why we are non believers.

@misstuffy. There is a philosophical responsibility of the religious to accept their religious principles. There is no responsibility of the nonreligious at all. Many sceptics and atheists take up the mantle of science, not as a protest against the universe, but as an acceptance of the universe... Flaws and all.

Religiosity cannot allow the acceptance of flaws. It must be perfect because it was made perfect by a perfect being.

So I'm going to rephrase your statement as:
Because we are Nonbelievers, we allow ourselves to better understand our universe.

Because we have no preconceived notions or restricted narratives, we don't have to find anything other than what's there.

@Keita I prefer to word my statements my own way but I get what you are saying.

'You'll understand more when you're older...You'll understand more when you're wiser.'?? WTF??

I hate it when I’m told I have to have faith. Nobody in the Bible had to have faith! Either God or an Angel manifested themselves to all the biggies. If God or an Angel manifest for me, I’ll consider having faith.

I love this, it is the perfect response!!
