San Francisco in decline.
I visited San Francisco a few years ago and loved the city . Going to Haight/Ashbury was almost like a pilgrimage after being immersed in the hippy culture during the '60's but what has happened to the city ? Defunding of the police, decriminalisation of thefts and assaults ??. Rampant crime. 250,000 people have left the city in the past few years.
I have always ignored the conservatives ranting on about "the left" but if this is what they mean by the left, maybe they have a point.

It's a right wing garbage hit piece, San Fransisco is no worse than numerous other cities. The Character Assassination of San Francisco: [fair.org]

Interesting. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle

@Moravian The country has all sorts of major problems, most of which aren't even being acknowledged let alone being realistically addressed. The right's claim that it's the Dems/liberals who are responsible for everything wrong in the country is laughable, and the MSM carrying water for this is pathetic.

It will not improve by the time 2024 comes around which is why I think democrats will be slaughtered. I still think Biden will be rolled so a fresh face may be put on things for the election.
For his personal life I hope he doesn't either. At 82, it's time to smell some roses.
I do hope he gets done for blowing up Nord Stream though. He is directly responsible for killing 7 children in Kabul, ordering a revenge attack after the suicide bomber at the airport in that clusterfuck of a withdrawal. Hope he rots for that.

I can't see why you are blaming Biden for the situation in San Francisco. It appears to have started in 2014 and has become progressively worse since then.i cannot access the full article in the Atlantic but there was a shorter article in The Times yesterday by Rohan Silva. He quotes a law passed in 2014 named proposition 47 which decriminalised thefts up to $950 and reduced penalties for serious crimes such as Sexual assault abd deomestic violence. DA Chesa Boudin is blamed for most of the problems.
It appears to be a kneejerk over reaction to overcriminalisation in America with huge prison incarceration rates but it seems to have backfired disasterously.
As for Biden being responsible for deaths overseas, give me the name of one US president since WW2 who wasn't responsible for many more deaths than he has.

@Moravian Re Biden and o/s deaths, does that make it OK other POTUS did the same?
Not blaming Biden for San Fran but atm he represents the Democratic party, where much of the blame lies for San Fran. Don't let Pelosi off the hook either, her town.

@puff Sorry ???. I'm not excusing Biden for anything I am just pointing out that every US administartion has been responsible for the deaths of thousands overseas so why should Biden be any different. Republican G W Bush probably excelled with his Iraq invasion in being responsible for the deaths of around 300,000 and misery for millions more.

@Moravian Not excusing others, but after that suicide bomb at Kabul airport Biden vowed to take out the cell responsible, no doubt pressure applied to drone operators to get it done quick, then announced the "successful" drone strike to the media......bragging he was. Came out later it was an aid worker loading water bottles into his car with 7 kids "collateral damage". The prick just wanted to appear tough.
The ICC have an arrest warrant out for GW Bush, same as Putin. He won't leave the country for fear of being arrested.

@puff I don't remember much about the Kabul incident but I agree that Bush should be on trial in the Hague along with his buddy Tony B liar.

@Moravian Don't forget Jonny Howard the Australian PM at the time. We called him "Bonzi" here ie a little Bush. He was awarded your Freedom medal by GW for being a good, compliant lacky in the invasion of Iraq. Funnily, never seen him proudly wearing it.

@puff I didn't realise that Australia was involved in that one. I think they were coerced into joining the US in the Vietnam debacle. I really admired then PM Harold WIlson for refusing to join the US in that great adventure despite pressure from tricky Dick Nixon.

@Moravian We, Australia, are totally beholden to the US and enter every war they want us to. It allows them to claim a coalition is with them. The US says "Jump!" We say "How high?"
