I'm feeling a wee bit melancholy this evening. Okay, let's be honest, I'm feeling sorry for myself. My ex has moved on, and after almost two years, I still miss him, and what we had. I've been trying to be, if not a friend, at least friendly toward him. So.....all this being said, I'm listening to Fado music (Amalia Rodrigues is my favorite! Picked up one of her CDs while in Portugal a few years ago). It always makes me feel worse when I'm feeling sad. Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment! My question tonight is: what is your "go to" music when feeling down. The music you chose can either make you feel better, or like me, make you want to open a vein! Do tell, as misery loves company, my friends! 😉

Old school country music like George Jones or Hank Williams Sr.

Some good ol’ R&B does it for me.
Aaron Hall - I Miss You
Xscape - who can I run too
Dry Hill - were not making love no more
Usher - let it burn

@JaciBea very true! I also can turn on some Amy Winehouse or Donny Hathaway if it gets really bad lol.

@JaciBea oh goodness I haven’t listen to Linkin Park in so long. Are you a hybrid theory kind of gal or is meteors more of your speed?

Click on subtitles if you don't spak Portuguese. (Note - the translation loses quite a lot such as that water singing means boiling and the attempt to translate the Portuguese simple past perfect is an epic fail.

For over four decades I have used a song by Randy California called "Downer". It's on the album called "Kaptian Kopter and his Fabulous Twirly Birds"......feel better already, right? Randy used to play with Jimi Hendrix, and after his stint with the band Spirit, recorded this gem. It sounds like well-played, well-recorded Punk Rock.....with Hendrix playing guitar! Primal, exhilarating, energetic.....and the only words to the song are "Been on a Down too long, got to come off it...Hey! Works every time.......find it on Youtube......

Opening a vain is so troublesome a word take care of you and let go of him.

I was being dramatic, but thank you. NO man is worth a drop of my blood.

Mariachi. It is like country music but with more horses. Every Mexican woman, divorced or widowed, cries with Amor Eterno. For me, Amanecí En Tus Brazos.

Um, I'm Mexican, and that doesn't make me cry. But hey!, whatever works for you.

@AzVixen52 Amanecí was our love song. Or are you speaking of Amor Eterno?

@TravelinTom I'm speaking of don't group all Mexican women together.

@AzVixen52 A generalization, sure, but you know what I mean. It is the exception that makes the rule. Did I offend?

Live in the moment. The past DOES NOT EXIST

I think it does.

@AzVixen52 Well....it just doesn't. One cannot change an iota of the 5 last minutes gone by. Therefore, they no.longer exist. Neither does the future, for that matter. Only the moment. Don't waste represent, reliving the unchangeable past. ( I sound like a cuk, but it's true)

@Briggs Everything exists in your mind, the present, past and the future. It's your choice. Some choice may be good.

@Briggs Yep, still think it does.

William Faulkner: “The past is never dead. It's not even past.”

Generally to something quirky and funny like 'Last Friday Night'.Katy Perry I think. What I do not do is go back to any music of those days when we were tohether. That is as you say, being a glutton for punishment. As for the X, close you eyes and in your thoughts take back everything he took from you. And every pain of his you carried, give it back.

I avoid music that makes me sad when I’m sad. I will listen to the Stones or something very upbeat. No point in torturing myself.

You're not feeling sorry for yourself at all. We've all been there to a degree. and it does suck. There are certain songs that I can't listen to anymore due to the breakup of my past relationship with a woman that I thought could finally heal my broken heart. No one wants to be in that particular area, beleive me. With me, Any music by Wilson-Phillips will send me into a tailspin, and they are my favorite girl group of all time. :-/

Some Saguaros are stubbier than others. And the brightest full moons help the sand dunes showcase their shadows.

Heartbreake is misdirected attention when there is so little time and so much to do. It helps me to go for a hike or to read a good book or talk to a friend or ro mediate. Misdirected attention.

Imagine Dragons if I want to wallow. Faun if I need to perk up for work. Great Big Sea if I want to be cheery. Mozart if I want to wake up. It varies.

Depression appears to be commonly reduced by CBD. This is now widely available. I personally have a bias toward CBD from indica or sativa rather than from hemp. Try whatever you can get and see if it helps.

I'm not depressed, but thanks for the info.

If I want to wallow in misery for a while, Morrissey. If I want a pick-me-up, Babymetal.

These polar extremes do the trick every time.

Gotta love that charming man!
