I guess I'm too late to join?

PS. You need to take all the props like a Bounty Bar to throw at the actors at the right moment and shout things like 'SLUT' whenever Janet is mentioned. My favourite was screaming 'BORING' while the narrator was speaking.

Seen it many times.
Was a large part of my youth.
Wish I could make it but I'm on the other side of the world 🙂
Used to go to a Club in Sheffield called 'The Annual Transylvanian Conference’
I got on the bus in full gear and when we got off all these blokes in suit jackets would stand up and have fishnets and heels on 🙂
Once went to a Movie screening with a very homophobic guy and his wife. He totally dressed up. A few months later his wife caught him doing is best mate 😀

Wish I could add photos to this comment 🙂

Old cult movie. People dress up wierdly and play out scenes in front of movie screen.

@Crimson67 yes at a repertoire theatre

A long time friend of mine got me going to Rocky Horror shows back in the late 90's. She was from Detroit and worked at the Fox theater which has one of the best turn outs for the show. Been to a few of the smaller showings here in Vegas, pretty damn good if you ask me. Everyone was dressed up as their favorite character and interacted with the film. A couple of months ago I went to a bigger budget version, put on by a local stage group....it was garbage. No one looked the part, especially the guy playing Dr. Frank N. Furter. The guy had no make up, no wig, just a Madonna type bustier. To top it off the guy couldn't sing. Oh, and no seats...the crowd, except the v.i.ps, got chairs and cocktail tables. So glad the tickets were won and not bought. From now on, I'll stick to the smaller, cult productions of Rocky Horror.

I figure you all might appreciate this meme 😉

Seen it. Participated in it. Love it. Too bad they don't show midnight screenings around here any more.

Toucha Toucha Toucha Touch me! I wanna feel dirty!

2

Yep, saw it twice - on Sunset Blvd. in LA. Full audience participation. Complete with rice throwing, water pistols, umbrellas, people dressed up in character and doing Time Warp on stage.

I usually watch this around Halloween every year along with Young Frankenstein.

Friday nights in high school after we lost every football game (we went 0-9) we'd jam as many of us football players in somebody's car, I'd go into the liquor store to buy beer cause I looked the oldest, we'd cruise Douglas Ave. but ironically because we were so above that behavior 😉 , we'd then go to the Pawnee theatre for the midnight showing of Rocky Horror and dance and throw shit and yell at the screen because that's what you were SUPPOSED to do and finally go to some all night restaurant and order breakfast. It was Wichita, Kansas in 1980. It was either that or play D&D or if you were very lucky go on a date.

In regards to the movie itself you can look up some of the things to say and do but it's probably best to go as a virgin. You could learn the 'Time Warp' before you go but the heart and center of this movie is Tim Curry; he shows us how it's DONE! Hope you enjoyed it. Let us know.

@Crimson67 Excellent outfits. I've put holes in my fishnets and put more and trashier make-up on with lots of smudges. You 2 look almost respectable. 😉

@Crimson67 I guess 'inner stripper' ? I always try to act more jaded and burned out... I'm glad she talked you into dressing up tho. Mother and daughter going to Rocky Horror and dressing up is way cool! 🙂

love it

It's got to be done 🙂

I have stories!

It's just a jump to the left...

Many, many times. I dated FrankNFurter of one cast and riffRaff from another. Not at the same time though ? I’m not a Janet. ? Actually would have dated a Betty Monroe but wasn’t out and still in denial at the time. Evidence of me about to eat her alive... I think I was 18?

Great photo! Thanks for sharing.

when I first got out of the marines I met a couple of girls who were big time fans and they took me to see it every saturday night for a few months. No great stories, though...or none I would tell..hehe

Used to love it. I now see it as toxic and very much harmful to the transgender community. It's a lot of people's only experience of 'trans' and 'murderous pervert' isn't a particularly good image to project.

Richard O'Brien has also sided with the TERFs (trans exclusional radical feminists): "trans women are not real women." It seems he's on the fetishistic side of trans himself, and so (like so many) thinks if it's like that for him, it must be like that for everyone else.

A much better (and funnier) trans themed film is Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Not without its problems, but not nearly as transphobic as Rocky Horror.

I'm not saying I'd never watch it again, or go to a live performance of it with the right group of friends. But I'd be quietly disapproving.

I had no idea about this perspective. Thank you for educating me (us).

@ejbman That's just my personal take on it these days. I know trans people who think it's harmless fun, and enjoy watching it.

I still have the DVD somewhere. I haven't watched it for years, though.

Enjoy ! 🙂

Saw it at a local theatre at a midnight showing many years ago. People went and dressed like the actors and acted out scenes from the movie. The audience threw rice. It was one of the craziest things I've ever seen. Fun too!

4

The Vogue theater that used to be in Lousiville showed this every Friday night for years. People would act out the different scenes and come in costume. That was all fun. Not sure if people do that any more. Its worth at least one viewing

3

I used to go a ton when I was a teenager! I would have to say my best experience was hooking up with one of my fellow unofficial cast members. We used to dress up and act out the roles at the front of the theater.
