What items on a person’s profile here make them an easy ‘Nope!’ for dating?

Browsing members, reading comments, posts; I found a few with instant turn offs for me.
Religious/Believer/Spiritual
(Spiritual as defined here- belief in a supernatural entity)
‘Hookups’ listed
Member of conservative groups

Certainly there’s more to weigh within the profiles but these are instant Nope! for me.
How about you?

It’s weird on a site where so many others are like me. I’m good. You’re super pretty though.

There are so many. Trump supporters/super conservative assholes. Misogyny or any type of fragile ego. No job (doesn’t necessarily have to be a high paying job). Any type of prejudice is absolutely the biggest turn off of all time. Must be dog and kid friendly. I should also add anyone who can’t speak or write basic English. Unless, of course, English isn’t there first language. Maybe I’m too picky ?

A person that post a picture that is of when they are 47 years-old, when on their age it says they are 60. That seems to be foreshadowing about their honesty. My favorite of all is not their post, but when you plan to meet and they tell you that they are married and living with their wife. I have seen hook-up's only, (why are they on here bugging atheist women, they can use Tinder). For me not any statement abut not liking dogs screams "No," in my head. There are men that come on here trolling for women that have, Do you believe in God? with a response of 100%. I chased one off 2 days ago.

Smoking.
Recreational Drug use.
Vague Bios.
Super short Bios.
Pictures of them holding animals they murdered.
Pictures of them with their minor children. I believe they are violating their child's right to privacy by posting such photos.
Children under the age of 18.
Extreme Left or Extreme Right politics.
Religious shit.
Couch potatoes.

U r soo right about pics w minors . I can't stand that . I think it's dangerous and hideous .

@Pralina1 Right? I'm hoping a whole generation of crotch moppets grows up and sues the living f**k out of their parents for violating their right to privacy. I will LMAO if that happens.

@SkotlandSkye and people do not realize that their kids pics are viewed by pedophiles everywhere . Facebook , web pages , everywhere . Day after day I watched fair weather friends of Facebook posting pics of their kids in bikinis , school infos , bus info , everything . Pics at front doors where u can clearly see address number too .
Few years ago I deleted everyone and kept 100 peeps w brains .
At dating sites , both men and women careless , u won't send stranger your pics but your kids bodies and faces everywhere ... bcz telling prospective boyfriends that u also have a young girl or boy at home , and look , here is a pic !, is a good idea . No . Does not make u look like a good mommy or daddy . It makes u look like a careless ass in my book at the times and days we live . Here I said it . ??

Spiritual, religious, usually a no at least on this site. People that seem like misogynists, racists or homophobes for sure no.

Also tuned off by sports fans, muscle picks, long term as the only relationship choice.

Support Trump.
Favorite books: cook books.
Favorite Books: the bible.
Hopeless Romantic.
Must love Jesus.

Oh, I didn't read the initial question carefully. These are generic red flags. Not sure if I'd seen them here.

As an executive chef for 3 decades and a cookbook editor and recipe creator...I take offense that you discriminate against cook books!
But why??? 😟

@SkotlandSkye Sorry. I guess I didn't think about that. I didn't mean to offend. But I am weary of people who do not like books, in general, and women who limit themselves to the gender role. I guess I should understand that there are always the exception to the rules.

I am a lawyer, and I would be weary of the people who said that their favorite books are law books.

Reading is an enjoyment that I value, and if I was out of line, I apologize.

@KenChang You will be happy to know that while I have about 1200 cookbooks in my collection...I have another 2000 books that are everything from travel and history to Sci-Fi and adventure fiction 🙂 I also have a decent vintage school book which is quite fun to peruse.

1

Reading their comments. Rude, offensive, attacking people? Hell nope!!

When all the pictures have multiple people in them, I assume you’re the least attractive one.

2

Anti-marijuana, I hope they don't ever get arthritis or have chronic pain.
Anti-gun, I'm not saying everyone needs a Ma Deuce but if you think the cops will protect you, think again.
Anti-hunting, I'm not a hunter, there is need to keep some animals population in check.
Politics, I don't care for political arguments.
Motorcycles, if you don't like my Ducati because it's not a harley, piss on you.
When a person says a few extra pounds. What yardstick are they using, the BMI scale or do all their friends weigh 250 and they weigh 265?
Children at home or in some cases children period.
People who think once they reach a certain age they are mature.
Being entitled.
Thinks my hobbies are a waste of money.
If they don't understand the difference between a Klipsch LaScala and Wal-Mart speakers.

If I seem opinionated that's because I am, these things are non-negotiable and I know I will be single the rest of my life so it's no big deal. Meanwhile I'll be smoking a joint (you can't get pain meds anymore), listening to my audio system, looking through my telescope, riding my Ducati and protecting them all with my .357 Magnum. I'll get by.

7.6 Billion humans on the planet wreaking havoc and destroying the environment.....I would take it that you agree there is a need to keep humans in check too....so, when should we declare open season? Asking for a friend.....

Regarding the anti-marijuana people. I find it funny the ones on dating sites(one site in particular)who answer the question "Do you use drugs?" With a definite no, after answering earlier that they drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. Right, just approved drugs, Lol...

@ronnie40356 Exactly. I always thought it was funny when people say "drugs and alcohol" as if there is a distinction.

@SkotlandSkye I've done my part, no children manufactured here.
....so, when should we declare open season? Wait for the signal, you'll know when it happens.

There are a bunch of specific tactical items that have been listed, closed mind set etc.

What I'd like to add is this: My number one, always-first-every-time screen is high intellect. If a profile is any length at all it is easy to discern. It isn't a simple this-or-that, but is so fundamental to me that it is the foundational requirement.

If the person lacks high intellect, nearly if not every time they will list one or more of the single items. If they do demonstrate the level I am looking for, a single item-gotcha may have a different context.

An articulate and grammatically-correct profile is a joy to find, bonus points for some sly humor! I will also overlook a no-go (having a child at home, "occasional" marijuana use, or lame taste in music, among other things) if they have a strong intellect.

@AmiSue Schooling is a good screen but it is just that.

Any dic pic
Shirtless pic
Pic with fish
Not a cat person
Hate bugs
Cadaver consumers
Trump support
Tobacco use
Spawn
Low credit score
Bigots
Serial killer
Trucks
Dirty finger nails
Unkempted beard
Prison pics
Atv pics
Anti cannabis
Anti Israel
Sheeeesh. No wonder I can't get a date.

So, now list the positive points for you.

@bigpawbullets The opposite.

@Countrywoman
I'm still trying to process "cadaver consumers".
It might be a bit early to attempt visualizing that.
😉

@Countrywoman Good list, except for your support of Apartheid!

It's not anti isreal, its pro Palestine.

@dellik You mean you don't believe that God has chosen some people to take over the land of others?

In some women's bio's they will say some version of, they are honest or brutally honest is a red flag because more often then not it just means they're rude and Ill-mannered and very thinned skinned if you call them on it. Kind of like people claiming they're stable genius's. No need to say that stuff we'll figure it out pretty quickly.
Only head shots is a big no no too.

@AmiSue
I have gone through a persons answers before and pointed the contradiction in their answers out to them and man that makes'm cranky. ?

@AmiSue
I'm a big fan of telling women on Twitter to "calm down" they seem to love that too. ?

Just look at mine...lol. seriously, I now use this site more for community and a bit of comic relief. Certainly being single, I am receptive to women and believe some of the women on this site to be the most remarkable people, but I am an old dog and though "I clean up nice", I believe more in reality than social niceities. So my suggestion is talk with people and find out. Profiles are very poor outlines.

0

The two you mentioned, especially the blatant religious types(cross in photo, praise for god in photo, etc.), plus usually a heavy smoker is a no no..

And someone with no photos, I learned pretty quick that's not a good idea.

0

male. trans. other. etc, etc, etc.

2

I am content with any "nopes" on my profile. I am what I am. At least I'm honest.

0

Great question. Learned a lot reading the answers!

4

If a guy's profile talks about how much he loves working out, has gym pics, and says he's looking for someone "in shape," who " takes care of herself," I assume this is code for "no higher than 8% body fat."

3

A guy hit me up on Match whose profile stated he was looking for a "feminine, submissive woman" who shouldn't "show up without makeup" and that he didn't date outside his race.
ALL the nopes!!!!!

The one I liked best (hahaha) was "she should look as good in her little black dress as she does in her tight jeans". ?????? An awful lot of "2"s are out there looking for "10"s......seems like anyway. 🙂

@YES!! And how many guys describe themselves as "athletic and toned" when you can clearly see 3 chins and a gut the size of Oklahoma

0

Drinking, hook up, no pics, misspelling.

And people wonder why they are still single.
At least I admit that I'll be a bachelor the rest of my life and have no real chance of any relationship.
I don't find overweight women attractive for the same reason I don't like the way liver tastes. It just is.
I am attracted to long, wavy, curly hair more than straight hair. I suppose that makes me a cretin too some as well.
The thing is, I don't care what you think of me, I don't have anything invested except a few words on website. If you don't like me, that's fine, block me. If you do like me that's fine as well.
Let's just all be honest and stop tip-toeing around political correctness because you might hurt one's feelings. Life happens and these things happen also. Utopia does not exist.

Your first sentence pretty much says it all......

1

Have to be careful with that because people define words differently. For me spirituality means trying to elevate my spirit, rather than any superstitious meaning.

0

Is a long "No" list a sign of an inability to love?

0

I agree with a few things you have listed here. Not sure I want an LTR and I certainly do not want a smoker. Can't stand a conservative because they believe all the Trump nonsense and didn't even think that way until Trump actually came along. Must be Trumpzombies? I might weigh 250 but I don't want you to. If you call yourself atheist but you are still "spiritual" you are not for me. Spiritual can be anything you want it to be. If you flip flop on atheism you are not for me. I'm not wanting a situation where we get along perfect and then you "find god again" and some guy who says he is a minister declares we are "not equally yoked" and you justify breaking up because of that. I been around a while and I've seen a lot of things.

2

Reading what a person has posted is the best research to learn who they might actually be. Difficult to hide one's stupidity for long.

I would prefer more questions, sorta like OKCupid. But the free form conversations here are most useful.

Yep!! OKC may have some goofy questions; but the "real" ones sure do help weed out those who are not compatible!!

@Humanist5 I read this as, "help weed out those who are not COMPLETE."

@Jacar hmmmm, I thought I was agreeing with you about why you liked the questions at OKC. Was I mistaken? What is YOUR reason for wanting questions? We all have preferences and boundaries; isn't that what questions are for? I am certainly not judging someone else's "completeness"......just whether they match my own "incompleteness". For example, I say "Nope" to guys on OKC who want golden showers, bondage or polyamory. I don't consider them bad or wrong or "incomplete"....just not my cup of tea. Isn't that how it works?

@Humanist5 Just being a bit dung-in-cheek.
And, being completely interesting is reasonable.
