THERE ARE NOT TWO SIDES TO THE MASK ISSUE IN THE U.S.!!!!

States have Police Power to protect the health and welfare of their citizens. When you live in the United States of America you agree to follow its laws. No one citizen or minority group gets to decide not to follow the law, in this case refusing to wear masks. The U.S. Supreme Court in Jacobson v. Massachusetts, 197 U.S. 11 set forth the issue succinctly, "The liberty secured by the Constitution of the United States does not import an absolute right in each person to be at all times, and in all circumstances, wholly freed from restraint, nor is it an element in such liberty that one person, or a minority of persons residing in any community and enjoying the benefits of its local government, should have power to dominate the majority when supported in their action by the authority of the State." "It is equally true that the State may invest local bodies called into existence for purposes of local administration with authority in some appropriate way to safeguard the public health and the public safety...There are manifold restraints to which every person is necessarily subject for the common good. On any other basis, organized society could not exist with safety to its members. 197 U.S 26 In Crowley v. Christensen,137 U. S. 89, 97 the Supreme Court said: "The possession and enjoyment of all rights are subject to such reasonable conditions as may be deemed by the governing authority of the country essential to the safety, health, peace, good order and morals of the community. Even liberty itself, the greatest of all rights, is not unrestricted license to act according to one's own will." Wear the damn mask!

We have lost the ability to think of the common good. It has seen as some sort of socialist agenda.

To the selfish there is no common good, it's only their good

Would not be in a socialist agenda

People think that a meteorite wiped out the dinosaurs - but if we are not careful the American dinosaurs may go the same way through the stupidity of the masses. Meanwhile the nimble and socially compliant Asians and many Europeans will survive and be there to pick up the pieces.

PS. Good luck in getting anyone to enforce laws in the US anymore unless there is a rich person's interests at stake. We are now officially a post truth, post law, and post justice country.

@prometheus we are. So scary.

@prometheus, @AgnoBill no it wouldnt but stupid people think it is.

Bingo ! The RWNJs have zero compassion for anyone but themselves.

@lerlo I am trying to figure out when we lost respect for public health and the overall well being of the nation. This seems unprecedented.

@GreatNani it was probably before our supreme leader decided we should drink bleach

@lerlo LOL maybe so. SIgh....

Yeah at this point lack of a mask is an insult to me and affront to common decency. In my day to day life people I used to despise for other reasons jumped up considerably in my evaluation solely because they wear a mask and people I used to respect quickly face dove willingly into the sewer of my interpersonal rating system. I take this seriously. I now understand China’s cultural more shift over the past decade and a half.

7

They have seatbelt laws in all 50 states, that goes for passengers as well. You're not allowed to walk down the street naked. There are sanctions if you do. There's not two sides to this.

I believe that one person's liberty stops when it infringes on another's. To not wear a mask is arrogant and inconsiderate... and judging by some people's behavior (i.e. coughing or spitting in someone's face) downright criminal.

6

It is a crime to knowingly infect someone with HIV. Unfortunately most people don't know they have Covid if they are asymptomatic. Criminal negligence laws should be considered especially against the churches promoting unsafe behavior.

It's called a social contract. It's an unspoken agreement between citizens to act in a certain manner that ensures or promotes an environment of safety and cooperation for the general good of all. I guess we need to reopen dialogues about that.
But when you have large numbers of ignorant, uneducated people that have been conditioned to accept the fantastic and reject reality.....this is what you get.

No such thing. Completely made up. I signed no such agreement.

@SCal by accepting everything the fucking government gives you a hole you agree to the contract. Did you ever take a fucking government course?

@lerlo, @creative51 You two idiots obviously have no clue how contracts work.

If you did, you would comprehend that there can be no social contract.

But you have the nerve to attack me with name calling?

Stupid is, I guess.

derp

@creative51 Good, because I was not interested in your lack of wits. I am seeking information that backs your position.

I will take your retort as conceeding that you have none.

Thanks!

@SCal Did you not hear her say "unspoken social agreement?" That means to behave in a way that does not harm others. You know... like a civilized human

@TheoryNumber3 Did you not hear me say, "does not exist?"

Humans are not civilized.

@SCal I don't disagree. I've said for a long time that civilization is a veneer. We're all still cave people at heart. But did you hear me say "BEHAVE LIKE a civilized human"?

@TheoryNumber3 I did.

The state has the power to protect the populace from disease

bobwjr Level 10 June 26, 2020

Not only the power, but the duty.

@Joanne The supreme court has ruled many times that police and govt has no duty to protect anyone.

Try again.

@SCal THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENTS IN PUBLIC HEALTH: AN OVERVIEW AND LEGAL FRAMEWORK
Governments at every level—federal, tribal, state, and local—play important roles in protecting, preserving, and promoting the public's health and safety (Gostin, 2000, 2002). In the United States, the government's responsibility for the health of its citizens stems, in part, from the nature of democracy itself. Health officials are either directly elected or appointed by democratically elected officials. To the extent, therefore, that citizens place a high priority on health, these elected officials are held accountable to ensure that the government is able to monitor the population's health and intervene when necessary through laws, policies, regulations, and expenditure of the resources necessary for the health and safety of the public.

@Joanne way to go awesome

they are dedicated to killing you, and have plainly stated as much many, many times. Not the bean counters and pencil-pushers we deal with every day, certainly not, but those who issue their marching orders, with names like "Rothschild" and etc. Dont be a chump, ok? Take steps to strengthen your immunity, all by yourself, or don't be surprised when it gets cold ok? Your grandchildren are being robbed blind as we speak, and that is surely the whole point of this little farce, a morally and financially bankrupt system stealing your $ by the TRILLIONS

Do you wear the seat belt at all times in your car when it is just there parked in your garage? No, of course not. The belt is only needed when operating the car in a way that could be involved in a collision. But parked in your garage, the belt is fully unnecessary.
Wear the mask if you have symptoms and/or if you cannot maintain safe distance. But if you maintain safe distance at all times and wash your hands, specially after touching potentially contaminated surfaces, then the mask is unnecessary. If you maintain safe distance, the mask does not protect you from anything because nothing is getting to you.
Don’t ask me to be afraid of something I don’t need to be afraid of. Being of darker skin, I have enough things to worry about, like a president that is encouraging white supremacists to hurt me; I wish there was a mask that could protect me from that. So, keep your fears to yourself and let me be afraid of the things that represent a real and present danger to me.

@MissKathleen I did read this article. Did you notice that it did not consider social distancing at all? So, should we asume that mask wearing is associated with lower death rates even in the absence if social distancing? That would be nice. We could go to crowded concerts again as long as we all wear a face mask. Do you all reading this reduce your social distancing when you are wearing a mask? I didn’t think so. So, could it be possible that people who wear a mask also maintain appropriate social distance? Because if that is the case then we have a huge confound in this study. Perhaps the answer is effective social distancing and is unrelated to mask wearing.

You don't know if you have symptoms smart one. You wearing a mask is to protect other people. Basically what you're saying is you don't care if somebody else dies as long as you don't, but you don't know if you will because you don't know if you have the virus or not. Cops should only wear bulletproof vests if they know they're going to get shot. People should only get car insurance if they know they're going to get into an accident. You can decide to violate any law you want based on your own justification however that's against the law.. Guess people of color don't have to follow the Supreme Court..

No one is telling you to wear a mask while sitting in your car or while you're able to properly social distance, and nowhere has anyone suggested it is more effective than social distancing and hand washing. The entire country is opening up while cases are still rising, and while you may not recognize this as a threat sitting there in your comfy place apparently never getting within 6 ft of another human, those of us going to work at a hospital everyday see the situation much more clearly. Masks DO minimize the distance the droplets from your breath travel (basic physics of trajectory) thus minimizing the exposure of your germs to others. But, I guess when I get done caring for Covid positive patients all week and have no way of knowing my own exposure, you feel I should carry on with my grocery shopping and exposure to the public sans a mask? What a dumb decision that would be. And, you're welcome.

Maskholes don't maintain their distance and in enclosed areas it is impossible to do that anyway. It's like saying "I don't need my brakes to be working because I always drive carefully". Just a figment of wishful imagination.

The only thing that is stopping everyone from wearing masks and freaking the fuck out is COVID isn't quite contagious enough and isn't quite deadly enough to the 75% under 50. If it was every maskhole and Karen would be sheltering at home AR-15 in hand shooting at anyone who came near like it was season 11 of The Living Dead. Same irrational people, different outcome - both more deadly than doing the right thing.

You are on an agnostic themed website so I may have expected you to be aware of some of the things below which you can at times NOT be aware of e.g the symptoms do not always show and no one salutes you with a trumpet blast.
a) the presence of the virus
b) the time when any driver of your car can lurch forward from standstill because of a wrong foot or gear change manoeuvre
c) when you might be overcome suddenly by illness
d) when by setting an example you infulenced another person to take an action that saved their life,

meh, so we're now having a war on c19, and trust me thats gonna go ezackly like the war on terror and the war on drugs ok. Wish yall would have a war on healthy immunity and maybe one on common sense too.

Fwiw entire states--N Dakota maybe? Somewhere up north, female governor--arent following what btw cannot be "laws" anyway, as those are enacted by Congress through proper channels, but anyway they are doing fine?

So imo you are right, there are not two sides, as "flattening the curve" does not help anyone to live or die, but rather prolong the suffering so that your hospitals will not be overwhelmed all at once, whereas disseminating information that would improve ppls immunity--which is not happening at all, near as i can tell anyway--would

I live in North Texas and per Governor all businesses are required to ensure all patrons and staff wear masks punishable by $500 fine. So, not sure where you get your information. Apparently not from a reliable source. Thanks @MiddleWay for providing useful and accurate information. Perhaps
Bbyrd009 will learn something.

@TheMiddleWay immunity plays the same role with "covid" that it does with any other pathogen, im sure? The only reason that you have not succumbed to pneumonia is bc your immunity is sufficient to ward it off; yet many, many more will die of pneumonia than c19, clinically speaking. But realistically they both died from the same thing; compromised immune systems. Yes, immunity is a big goddamned mystery to doctors, who are after all allopaths, symptom-treaters, who will for instance always recommend a mammogram, even though vitamin D deficiency is a better marker for breast cancer, and etc

@Cinco meh, so then listen to governors and doctors, who will not live as long as the rest of us anyway, idc. Your governor is a retard anyway lol, i mean he is a polit after all right. You wanna listen to morally and financially bankrupt ppl, your choice

2

heil baby

2

And oh, by the way, Jim Crow laws were created by democratically elected majorities to protect their society from what they actually thought to be a danger to their way of life. An don’t let us get started with Nazi laws. So, the majority/minority and rule of law arguments are not as black and white as your post purports.

2

I heard a dude this week say we're all fools because the masks don't protect us according to science, and the mortality rate is only 2%. They reduce potential - they don't completely prevent. And the official rate is a little over 5% almost everywhere. Thus, no one talks about he other pandemic happening every day... misinfo-20

@MissKathleen exactly. But so many people aren't dealing with facts. It's scary.

1

It's no different from wearing a seatbelt. The seatbelt law is there to protect you and your passengers. The mask is also there to protect people around you. If you choose to be careless, you risk the lives of others.

1

Indeed, but there seems to an ever growing number of angry people who see themselves as the center of the universe with their own perceived rights and needs the pinnacle.
As you have said, the people accept the rule the government they voted for, or accepting the view of the greater should their candidate have lost. All thanks to John Locke's social compact principle.
Individuals or worse still groups who refuse to mask up and keep apart risk the whole.
I will venture that Americans must learn a far more socialist method of living. Indeed you need to gain at least one more powerful political party/movement and move to proportional representation in politics which hopefully drive the needs of the many over that of the few.

We already have that. Getting some to accept it is something else apparently. It used to be one party won, the other lost, and you might not agree with its policies but they were qualified. Unlike the current idiot. And our representatives we're supposed to work together. Having a racist dictator is contrary to our system.

@lerlo Yes, I covered American politics 1945-2019 last year in college - I'm a very mature student!

“... essential to the safety, health...”
Whereas the face mask has not been proven to be fully effective to the effort of controlling or limiting the transmission of the virus, but instead marginal and dependent on the proper use of the mask, which is hardly achieved even in the best if circumstances. Therefore wearing the mask cannot be deemed ESSENTIAL to the safety in the same way as maintaining safe distance and constant hand washing does.
So, no. Good try though.

Nice try. Show me where the word essential is anywhere in the law. State makes the law to keep people safe. Is it 100% safe no, does it work, yes. Keep trying

@lerlo read the original post. 5 lines before the end.

@Rodatheist my mistake, but you don't get to decide what essential is, the government does and they did. You can say that metal detectors and things don't stop theft, so you're allowed to steal. Or you can say yelling fire in a crowded theater won't kill everybody so you should be able to do it. Key message of the law is that you don't get to decide for yourself. You think the law is wrong, sue the state

With that kind of attitude it’s hard to imagine how the US has more than two million people with COVID.

1

Absolutely

good luck enforcing that. In case you haven't noticed police aren't exactly popular right now.

redhog Level 7 June 24, 2020

People still rob banks and kill people. Enforcement isn't the issue, educating the idiots who think they have a right not to wear a mask is the issue. The ability or lack thereof of the government to enforce their laws doesn't give you a pass to break it

@SanDiegoAirport precisely

It’s a safe bet that people who complain as steadily as @Rich77 does were cruelly abused when they were young. It may be a safe bet that he cannot write a bio because there’s so much pain in his past.

0

Who cares what the supreme court said? They don't have moral superiority, they represent genocide, slavery, the largest number of prisoners, innocent people on death row, executions of people with disabilities by the police, so why do you look to them for moral advice?

Rich77 Level 2 July 11, 2020

Wow, just pretend it's LEGAL advice. They don't convict anyone but welcome to civics 101. They are the law of the land. The whole social contract thing YOU agreed to by living in the U.S. You don't like? Move. Otherwise you don't get to pick and choose the laws you like. Simple, key word, simple, as that.

@lerlo I don't think anybody agreed to anything, that's all in your imagination. You're not even going to pretend it has anything to do with morality? I guess that's honest.

@Rich77 if you can read, look up social contract.
of course you get to choose which laws are moral and which ones aren't, go right ahead. Love to see that defense in court or you probably wouldn't have the balls to show up in court with that defense

0

This is a perfect example of Darwinism at a social level. Our current social and political culture is a direct barrier to addressing COVID-19.

0

healthy people social distancing and wearing masks is retarded ok, it is suicide, and you are listening to the same ppl putting fluoride in your water lol.

Of course there are two sides to the mask issue; those with healthy immune systems, and the at-risk. But let's mask up all the healthy ppl and allow the at-risk to mingle, by all means. Ya that makes sense

Well you couldn't find an older debunked theory than fluoride? But okay big shot explain how wearing masks and social distancing is suicide. Can't wait

@lerlo, @TheMiddleWay doctors and nurses its already proven that they will not live as long as the rest of us, search "dead doctors don't lie" for more on that, and hopefully it makes sense on some level that a healthy immune system must be exposed to pathogens to build an immunity to them, as hermits and ppl accidentally marooned in isolation have demonstrated time after time, by dying when they are reintroduced into society?

but i am not here to make any laws ok, yall do what you want. But you migt ask why we are hearing virtually zero about how to strengthn immune systems, and all we are hearing is shit designed to compromise them, "fear this, fear that, socially isolate," lalala, gotta wonder how suicide numbers have fared the last three months personally.

so imo eat some garlic, eat some onions, many ways to improve your immune system, all generally the exact opposite of what we are being told. Socially congregate imo, and fuck your retard politician "leaders"

@bbyrd009 I didn't think you could explain how masks and social distancing are suicide. Look up the word asymptomatic. How many people have to die before you're afraid? Or any number of deaths is fine with you? Fear-mongering huh, let me guess what party you're with...

@lerlo ok you do understand that "flatten the curve" implies no lives saved whatsoever right

@TheMiddleWay ok well i havent yet heard the word "garlic" on the msm so i dunno, and i guess scientists have disagreements too? But i have just too often been the only "well" person in the room full of ppl "infected" the same way i was, or just as often, "immunized."

i mean bam wear a mask if you want, but why not take steps to personally bullet-proof yourself? Infection and immunization are the exact same vector ok, two words that mean the same exact thing, at least until "scientists" get hold of it, and start adding thimerosal and baby foetuses and whatever. Aight best of luck to yall think (esp if you believe the gov lol)

@bbyrd009 you're just clueless. How does that imply that? Because that's what you think it means? Trying to prove a negative? How about flatten the curve means less new cases? And how about the current rise any explanation for that Mr. Wonderful?

Observing America's decent into medical chaos from a country who is carrying a lockdown, social distancing and some manditory mask wearing. We in Scotland have reduced COVID infections and have avoided any deaths for four days now. This squashing of the curve could eradicate the disease in a few more months. Look to New Zealand, they have wiped out COVID excepting what drifts in from abroad.
This shows that counter measures can work and help those who are less healthy than they should be survive.
America suffers from poor societal health and a very primitive health system mixed with some of the most advanced medicine on the planet. The capitalist drive to get America back to work is costing thousands of lives. In the big picture these deaths mean really very little. The old, fat, unhealthy, disabled and poor die off. Which is good for society, but if you are one of those or who are close to one, it is abhorrent.
Masks work, washing hands work. Social distancing works. I'm a healthcare professional and where I work we have avoided infection dur to the work and dillengence of myself and fellow workers keeping isloation at a higher level than required by the general public. If infection gets into our unit, the people we work for will be at the bottom of the list to recieve healthcare by our National Health Service and they will die. We are like family and I don't want them to fall ill.
I fear for America it is now too late. The Genie is out of the bottle and you will suffer up to two million extra deaths over the next 12-18 months. By allowing an unlocking far too early, Trump will cause far more devestation as States governments fumble to address his and their imcompetence, more people go sick, bills go unpaid and economic collapse follows.

Let me help u w this .
Pls do not wear a mask . In your situation , this will be a major improvement . Humanity will be thankful .
And fuck off too .

@lerlo "How about flatten the curve means less new cases?"
no, it absolutely does not, lerlo; it only means less new cases at once
"And how about the current rise any explanation for that Mr. Wonderful?"
well i imagine the current rise in testing might account for that, but obviously people in contact with other ppl will "infect" each other, as nature intended? See, that is only a "bad" thing to the at-risk though, right?

@Sofabeast i appreciate your comments, even if i disagree at the millions of "extra" deaths which is patently bullshit, and fwiw "dead doctors don't lie" 🙂

i meanlets admit that if "infection" gets into your unit, a sizeable portion will have no symptoms at all, and most of the rest will recover just fine; it is, as you say, those who have neglected their health that will suffer, and i hope its understood that i am all for those ppl bubbling themselves up lest they become "infected" and die; but no, i will not cut myself off from society for their sick sakes, wadr

@Pralina1 ok ty, and have a nice day ms 1, i vaguely understand your emotions here, even if i do not reciprocate them ok. I wish you the best. Enjoy your new Brown Uniform.

@bbyrd009 Thank you for the enjoyable debate.

@bbyrd009 yes mr trump, testing causes new cases. Without testing nobody would have the virus.
Slowing testing will cause less deaths and less cases. Science! We should round up all the at-risk people, put them in one place and gas them. So all the healthy people can get on with their lives, not have to bother with masks or social distancing or being considerate to other people

@lerlo lerlo, you are, right now, fighting multiple infections, and the only reason you are not worried about them is bc the msm has not told you to, with all due respect. Your handlers are robbing your posterity blind in the name of c-19, to the tune of TRILLIONS of dollars, and fwiw i have no objection if you want to wear a mask anyway, ok? Have a nice day

@bbyrd009 Yes we are all sheep, we are the employees!!! If we only had a union, oh you don't like unions. Only in American can you vote for your employers. Gee I bet before your supreme leader got elected whenever there was an international news story you watched CNN. But since he got elected they only tell lies right? You should drink a little more bleach with your buddy Palin.

@lerlo not sure what that has to do with infections that you are fighting, and the $ has been broke since 1914, so what is your point sir
maybe we should pick this up again in a couple months, when FULL ZIMBABWE has been better understood?

@bbyrd009 yes now the dollar is the problem...trillions of dollars trying to save people from death...we're all going to hell!!!
Fox news forever!!!

@lerlo tbh that was an effect imo, and we were discussing a cause? I mean until you deflected off of it? Look if youre just out to win an argument you win ok

@bbyrd009 no, I won long ago when you had nothing to counter my original post

@lerlo well, you are amazing, thats for sure lol
your original post was stupid shit sir, and you are a legend in your own mind, pretty much like every other religious person i have ever met. The sun rises out your ass, right
"Throughout the ages in times of crisis, out-of-control governments, states, and empires have seized from their citizens what they perceived to be real money.
In recent history, gold has allowed citizens to protect their purchasing power from fiat currency depreciation and escape state-imposed financial repression. Though, it has been the prime asset that authorities confiscate when monetary systems fail.
In 1933, former U.S President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, enacted Executive Order 6102 banning American citizens from hoarding large amounts of gold. In 1959, the Australian Government signed the Banking Act into law allowing Aussie authorities to seize citizen’s precious metals. And in 1966, the British government blocked gold imports and banned Brits from owning more than four precious metal coins. These are just a few of the many wealth confiscation episodes over the past century.
Past governments approved these actions without their citizen’s consent to achieve “order” and remove “chaos”, but this is code-speak for theft via temporary authoritarianism. So when the U.S dollar inevitably collapses, if you think this 21st-century U.S administration won’t pursue your precious metals stash, you’ll be in for a surprise when the debtor-in-chief’s “sound-money hit squad” knocks down your door, empties your safe, and gives you nothing in return..."
[medium.com]

@lerlo and id ask for an actual address of the points there at "infection" but wadr im tired of hearing "dur, dur"
and ps you dress like a numbnuts too

@bbyrd009 "stupid shit" is always an effective counter to any argument. did you make it past 4th grade? I ask because apparently you can't read. The Supreme Court of the United States gives States the power that you don't like. That's unfortunate, move to another country. Name-calling, like your supreme leader, is the last resort of most idiots

@lerlo have trouble staying on one subject when your ass is being handed to you lerlo? Youre bouncing around like a ping pong ball lol.

Now do you wanna give an actual response to "flatten the curve" and "infection" or would you rather keep deflecting

and even tho you started the mud-slinging i apologize ok, bad day i guess

@bbyrd009 read the post and find anywhere where it talks about flattening the curve moron and infections. You changed the subject I moved it back to the post and I'll continue with you here as long as you want to persist in your BS

@lerlo ""How about flatten the curve means less new cases?"
no, it absolutely does not, lerlo; it only means less new cases at once"

@lerlo "lerlo, you are, right now, fighting multiple infections, and the only reason you are not worried about them is bc the msm has not told you to, with all due respect."

@bbyrd009 well let's see. listen to you or people with a clue, like scientists---hmmm which to pick? nice try but you probably just like typing msm--because it's your go to right?

@lerlo so deflection it is, then; have a nice day ok

@bbyrd009 yes you arre the master at it. Want to take one more shot at countering the US Supreme Court cases I cited? Or sticking with conspiracy theories?

@lerlo bye lerlo

@bbyrd009 yeah I didn't think so

@lerlo you didnt think at all lala, bye

@bbyrd009 you'll never get the last word on a post of mine...still trying to find a comeback for my cases big shot?

@lerlo aw bro sorry hope you havent been hanging out for the last two days just dying to get another troll in or anything?

@bbyrd009 ahhh yep the last resort, I must be a troll if I don't agree with you. does it hurt knowing that you're wrong? That you're an idiot? That you don't understand the law? That you don't care about the law? Or other people? Only about yourself? Keep coming big shot

@lerlo well wadr the troll part comes in when you deflect, deny, avoid, like that, i think...so see, if you were able to respond to the pertinent points rather than deflect away from them--which i mean i understand that works for making yourself feel better for a minute, or to win arguments, but how about irl? When you have created superbugs, or further damaged a surely already weak immune system by bubbling up, what do you do then? How do you deflect away from that?

@bbyrd009 okay I know you can't read but try looking up the word deflection in the dictionary. You thinking people don't have an immune system has what the fuck to do with whether or not the state can try and keep its people safe by requiring masks? If you want to post about immune systems make your own fucking post

@lerlo the problem lerlo is that the state does not give a shit about you, and is in fact robbing your posterity blind though, see. And masks will not, absolutely, without question, no reservations, save a single soul, as any Dr will even tell you, see; "flatten the curve" implies no lives saved whatsoever, but merely a dragging out of the inevitable so that your sick-care workers and facilities don't get overwhelmed, i mean unless you have some other data to introduce? And ill leave the last word to you ok, didnt realize this was your op. Have a nice day, and best of luck to you ok

@bbyrd009 no deflection there about whether the state cares about you. The fucking post is about whether or not they can tell you what to do about your health. Not you getting decide, "no I'm not listening to that, they can't tell me what to do." Consequently there are not two sides to the issue. You don't have to like it, you don't have to believe their intention, you just have to follow the fucking law. Thanks for making me explain it to you but some people aren't very bright

@lerlo thats just it though i think; im not following the law, ergo i don't have to follow the law, ipso facto, lerlo. "Congress shall make no laws prohibiting" etcetc see, and no, "they" absolutely cannot tell me what to do about my health or the public health in general, all they can do is try, like you are doing.

i think our differences are basically that i am the Kent State student, and you are the Nat Guard shooting them, more or less, but i respect your right to try and issue edicts for others to follow, and theirs too for that matter, ok?

Now of course when you try to come and enforce the unjust laws upon me--rather than what common sense tells one to do in the case of a novel virus, that being to sequester yourself if you are at-risk--i will be compelled to mow you down like grass, but lets be honest that prolly isnt going to happen anyway right, you would no doubt end up sending someone elses son to do your bidding anyway yeh

@bbyrd009 wow you are an idiot. based on what you say you don't have to follow any laws in this country they can try and write them but you don't have to follow them perfect idea I guess that makes you an anarchist witch youre proud to be, then get the fuck out of the country and I put up with you long enough so yes I will block you after you get to read how stupid you are. I dea with idiots for only so long. I hope you catch the fucking virus

@bbyrd009 would love to see your "they can't tell me what to do" defense in court. Of course they can only suggest that we have courts--you wouldnt even have the courage to show up and use that defense would you, coward? No, all talk. You'll only get by breaking all the laws you don't like, or sorry that are just suggestions, until you end up in prison being fkd by another inmate who is suggesting that you bend over.

@lerlo i guess the reason we arent seeing court challenges already is bc it would get tossed out of court, although i don't really know. I did make clear that i wear a mask in public when i have to, and im 60 and smoke rips, too, btw? So no masks is not really in my personal interest, supposedly, anyway

however, ty for your comments, hopefully they will serve to demonstrate your actual intentions here i guess

maybe we need a refresher in how laws are enacted in this country?

Maybe you need a refresher course on the role of the Supreme Court? Or how to read? Just for excitement, who decides what the word reasonable means in reasonable search and seizures in the Fourth amendment?

imo the law of common sense and self-preservation, but again you guys do what seems best to you ok; ima go catch c19 and not worry about it myself. Some ppl would prefer a "vaccination" though, surely. Darwin rules! 😀

and the Supreme Court has nothing to do with bills becoming laws?

@TheMiddleWay your post? 🤣

@bbyrd009 if the law of common sense tells you that in a pandemic where people are dying and thousands of people have the virus to not wear a mask or social distance, I think you confused it with common dense

@bbyrd009 I completely agree. You go ahead and deal with your selfish preservation however you see fit. You may even qualify for an award from Mr. Darwin. But in respect of some other laws, not to mention ethics or good manners, please stay the fuck away from the rest of the human population who may well take a slightly broader view on the concept of common sense. Do what's best for me? That would by necessity involve the removal of some basic liberties from you and your dangerous type. How about we all play fair and look out for the next guy?

@Salo how bout the next guy who has neglected his health sequester if he is at-risk, and stop expecting society to coddle his sick little ass? Doesnt that make more sense? I tell you that regardless of whether it does or not, you will never be able to enforce the first one anyway. But i mean give it your best shot, ok with me.

@bbyrd009 The SC can step in if the law is unconstitutional. However, forcing any non federal body to adhear to their ruling is another matter.
As for common sense, never rely on this. My common sense is likely to be different to yours and for some it is simply stupidity in action ignoring science or simple physics. Equate the concept of blonde moments to common sense.
Neglection of health, interesting one. Do fat lives matter? Do fat black lives matter? Yes they do and frankly the biggest killer when attached to COVID is obesity. Maybe America and the UK will learn to keep fit rather than fat after all this has passed.

@Sofabeast of course their lives matter, even to me, which is why i would def recommend that they self-isolate; but the consequences for healthy ppl doing so are just too great imo

Was there a mask law passed somewhere that I missed?

SCal Level 7 June 26, 2020

hmmm Florida, Arizona....

Yes there is now one in Texas as of Yesterday. I live here and watched my Governor announce it yesterday.

@Cinco Oregon now has one.

@lerlo, @Cinco Executive orders announced by the govna are not laws.

Hello people!

@SCal so because you don't know about the law you don't have to follow it...I'm not going to waste time showing you the force of an executive order, you don't have the capacity to understand it

@SCal here, find me a contrary citation or go the hell away
Provided the order has a solid basis either in the Constitution, and the powers it vests in the president—as head of state, head of the executive branch and commander in chief of the nation's armed forces—or in laws passed by Congress, an executive order has the force of law

State executive orders
Executive orders issued by state governors are not the same as statutes passed by state legislatures but have the force of law, as in the federal system. ... The same was demanded of its counties' water systems as well, but it was unclear whether the order would have the force of law.

What Is an Executive Order? - American Bar Association
Nov 27, 2018 · Both executive orders and proclamations have the force of law, much like regulations issued by federal agencies, ...

@lerlo No need. This citation already agrees with me. It says it has the "force of law", which means it's quasi-law. Appears to be law, but is not. And only at the federal level (executive branch only), not at the local, county level. Same applies for govnahs.

That is exactly what I said.

@lerlo And remember. It does matter how many people agree with you when you're wrong.

@SCal have you tried bleach? Those delusions will go away in a minute. I'll be here as long as you want me here cuz I don't do idiocy well
