LINK Conservative Writer Blames Public Schools for Kids Not Believing in His God | Hemant Mehta | Friendly Atheist | Patheos

In a bizarre, the-sky-is-falling article in the National Review, Cameron Hilditch blames the growing secularization of young Americans on… education.

This is apparently a bad thing.

He uses that claim to argue that it’s time for “religious parents to take their children back from the state” by removing their kids from public schools.

He said it himself. If public schooling is a problem for you in any way then go back to a private school. It is the only way that your god is not in trouble.

Interesting and partially correct. Just read a report showing the biggest reason people leave religion is because of their secular public school attendance. It's a lot easier to dump a phony belief system when one is not constantly bombarded with fake news. I experienced this as after attending a parochial school for 8 years we moved to Calif. and from then on it was only public school and the seeds of doubt started to get planted. The religious zealots know this and is why they keep trying to promote public money for their cause.

Wasn't some version of this idea the reason Betsy DeVoss was appointed Education Secretary? She was supposed to undermine public education in favor of government supporting private schools (for profit schools) including religiously based schools.

Yea we know.........masturbating too much will grow hair on your palms.

Or he perhaps thought paint chips were white potato chips. This moron is braindead. The bigger problem is that there seems to be no shortage of sheep stupid enough to go along.

He should be blaming god for his non-existence.

Maybe God just needs better press agents.

Maybe if God had just one instead of hundreds who have difficulty agreeing with each other.

@RussRAB But they all think they are God.

This guy and DeVos would love each other.

The world history part, yes let's teach about all of the religions side by side in a world history class so the children in public school can see exactly how ludicrous they seem. 🤔 Just the thought. 😣

As comical as it is for us to consider, this is the basis of most or all private schools. They are probably fretting a bit as BooBoo Betsy takes her leave.

Cameron Hilditch demonstrates everything that is wrong with the United States of Absurdity.

Yes, one must be ignorant in order to be religious. 🙄

That's why churches hold onto blind faith as if it were a virtue. 🙄

Well, to be frank he is correct... the fact that all children aren't raised in church schools but go to secular public schools has a huge influence on helping to negate religious indoctrination. I'm so happy for that benefit alone that our public education offers a secular learning environment.

Then his god must be a very weak god, if public school is taking it's followers away.

Or no god at all.
