I knew there had to be a better way when I realized that the God of Christianity is actually blind ignorance and sin is knowledge.
Like the fruit of the tree of knowledge was what they ate, right?
Faith can't have evidence or you would have a "REASON" to believe and these people are not reasonable.
It's a stupidity cult, and it gives us stupidity in government when they vote only for their kind of stupid candidate.
Trump is such an obvious idiot that many Christians assumed he was a new messiah, that's how much they value stupidity while fearing knowledge, competence, and education.

I know I always say this, but it's the truth.
The religious indoctrination of children should be classified as felony child abuse.

Keep saying it, because it's the TRUTH. 😘

Religion has always gone after new recruits by getting them when they're young, very young. People take babies and toddlers to church even before they understand what's going on. Brainwashing works best when started early.

7

I had friends while growing up who were not allowed to swim, or listen to music other than gospel, or play games with cards or dice, girls had to dress in drab dresses with long sleeves and past the knee.
Guess who rebelled the hardest against parents?

They rebel when they see an alternative.

Such catastrophically defective parents are quite happy to inflict untold mental damage on their children in the name of their particular god.

In other news, the pope is catholic. The parents are scared beyond death for their kids and are too deep into their religion to see that it could be wrong. They think they are doing the right thing by helping their kid "see the light" and have not the first that they are doing harm. Can't break the cycle. Hopefully, their kids are able to do exactly that.

I have two children one is religious one is an atheist. I want self-sufficiency and happiness for my children. They are very different people so I am sure they will attain those things in very different ways.

7

Of course they do. As any parent would want what they consider best for their children and that they feel worked for them. The difference is how they treat their offspring should they choose to not believe or take up a different faith. For many Evangelicals, not believing as they do would get you ostracized from the family or maybe even physically punished. My son embraced religion thanks to his wife’s beliefs and I have never tried to dissuade him from his beliefs. He often doesn’t like my Facebook posts that mock religion, but he has not tried to covert me either. With Evangelicals, I am not sure peaceful opposition would be possible. Same reason Amish shun their family members who choose to leave the Order after they have been baptized. They fear that free thought might be contagious.

After torturing the fuck out of their kids, no wonder many quit their shit-sham religion.

My understanding of parenthood is that good parents want their offspring to be smarter and more successful than they are/were.
It would seem that perpetuating delusional beliefs runs counter to that.

I hope all those parents are bitterly disappointed, and their children eschew all magical thinking.

Ah, see, but to them "success" includes attaining everlasting life in heaven with them.

@ChestRockfield That alone is more than adequate justification for anyone to jettison all religious delusions!

Why is this surprising?

It does not surprise me in the slightest. Such hardcore intolerance is a hallmark of emotional delinquency.

4

Children are the easiest to influence and manipulate. Add in restricting their access to other points of view, cultures, and environments you get mini replicas of their parents.

The great irony here is that they lionize the doctrine of freewill as a gift from God….

….and then proceed to deny it to their children thru systematic indoctrination into the family religion.

Which leads to the rather startling conclusion that the great majority of religionists in the world never chose the religion they believe in. It’s more like a virus that is transmitted from one generation to the next.

4

They need replacement bigots to continue there bs.

That, and they believe they will burn for all eternity if they aren’t saved…..🤷🏻♂️

Such delinquent behaviour is to be expected from such emotionally defective parents.

Mr Mehta mentions salvation in his article. He also mentions a similar model among Roman Catholics. It is not surprising because both Rome and their progeny (evangelicals) perverted Christianity into the deplorable get rich scheme that it has become.

They are terrified of the angry god invented by western Christianity and go further and further off the rails because of sola scriptura. Any nitwit with a Bible gets to make up any doctrine they’d like by twisting words and taking statements completely out of context.

As if you could take a cook book and call it scripture thinking it is all inclusive, infallible and sufficient. Never mind that one needs a basic understanding of measurements, techniques, utensils, terminology, food storage, food types and how to operate a cook top, oven, grill etc. The Bible is just a collection of books.

From what are they saved? How does one obtain salvation? What does all the money have to do with it? It’s sickening. But take a moment to realize that these indoctrinated folks raped and pillaged their way into establishing this nation and these same religious folks saved Europe from Hitler and today they hold socialist tyrants at bay so that we can openly disagree with one another.

If you ask me, and you didn’t, the entire human race (and I mean around the globe) is equally as stupid and callous as those evangelicals.

3

I think it's not just that they want their kids to like-minded clones of them, but they are also very scared of their particular church declining in numbers, and eventually becoming irrelevant in America. To them, those things are an existential threat to their identity and their life having any meaning or purpose.

2

By simple definition ALL Evangelicals want EVERYONE to join their faith

Every time they convert an unbeliever that’s one less skeptic to contend with. It’s a zero sum game.

2

That should be easy to do. Every meal have everyone pray and worship God the evangelism way. And if the kids refuse to worship, stop feeding them. Then after a few weeks, the kids will be begging their parents like they were Jesus.

This country has so dumbed down by all this Christian nationalism propaganda, that most of their children are just swept away by the nothingness of the hope they offer them!!!

“Stupid is as stupid does”!!!

It's probably important that your kids share you beliefs as well.

So you’re an atheist because you were raised by atheist parents. Correct?

@NostraDumbass

Dad is atheist. My mother is not.
