Texas Board Of Education Considers Changing Term ‘Slavery’ to 'Involuntary Relocation’

A year after Texas lawmakers enacted legislation to keep topics they say could cause students to “feel uncomfortable" out of Texas classrooms, CBS News reports that the Texas State Board of Education has voted unanimously to revisit the term “slavery,” and consider a proposal to replace it with the phrase “Involuntary Relocation.”

Gee, so slaves were just “Involuntary relocated” were they? Hell, smart move Texas. The term sure makes it sound like “slavery” was nothing more than some sort of a “clerical error.” Now, call me a silly “libtard” if you will, but somehow I suspect all this means those nice folks over at the Texas State Board of Education will also poo-poo allowing discussion about what actually followed - AFTER these folks were “involuntary relocated?”

Of course, Texas isn’t the only state trying to force educators to rewrite history the way today’s Republicans would like it to be told. In fact, Florida Gov. DeSantis and his pals, as well as many other Republican governors and their state legislatures, have been quite busy trying to pull off this very same scheme in their own states. You needn’t be a scholar to figure out this simply all boils down to - "White Christian men, good - other folks, not so good!”

Now, another question Texas might wanna explore is, “Is it also time to rewrite the Bible?” After all, slavery is frequently mentioned there. So, what’s next Texas? Reclassify the “Holocaust” as simply “Involuntary Incineration?” Once again, it doesn’t take a genius to see what these folks are really up to. Republicans are actually trying to turn this country into the “United States of Amnesia” - one state at a time.

Meanwhile, sane folks in Texas are trying their best to somehow manage to "involuntarily relocate” Gov. Greg Abbot and Attorney General Paxton out of office this November. Till then, you can expect that Texas State Board of Education to continue attempting to rewrite history and function more like a “Board of Willful Ignorance.” Nothing to worry about though - because they’re doing it all “in the name of Jesus!”

White washing.

Remember the history books were rewritten throughout recorded history by conquerers.
For God sake they almost managed to white wash Tulsa completely away were it not for the descendants of the victims and their friends passing down the knowledge by word of mouth.

Christian fascism is a far-right political ideology that denotes the intersection between fascism and Christianity, encompassing the fascistic, totalitarian, and imperialistic aspects of the Christian Church.

Christian fascism started when Roman Christians made Jesus really sympathetic to Rome and made his people, the Jews, the enemy. When a supposed Jewish source blames the worlds ills on Jews it makes me suspicious that the writer isn't Jewish.

Anyway this is why I disagreed with the destruction of civil war monuments to confederate traitors. They could be moved to a slavery museum. It's a record of racism and oppression and don't deserve the privilege of obstructing our view in municipal parks and urban centers.
Perhaps put them in a place in the desert, like the aircraft graveyards, their shear number and the magnitude of the site would be a powerful reminder of how much power racism has had on our history, and people could still read the plaques and understand why these monuments are wrong.

I fully agree. I think most sane folks didn't want the confederate monuments destroyed, they simply didn't think they should be displayed on public property. Thanks for your comment.

The monuments should be in museums with the full story of the good and the bad. They are a product of their time. Each generation tries to be better than the last and we can't evolve if we erase history. To do so puts us at risk of repeating mistakes that makes us go backwards instead of forward.

They may just be setting the groundwork for history to repeat the atrocities.

Wouldn't that just turn them into martyrs?

@Betty Who gives a shit about a dead martyr? More seriously, the attempt by Texas to whitewash its own past makes me sick.

@anglophone Martyrs get support and followers. Don't need to spread this kind of rederict any further. It would be better for the majority of the population to be against it rather than having to concentrate on fighting it in their own communities.

That’s awesome
