Voted in the FL Dem Primary today. I honestly do not understand why some sort of early voting or vote by mail option isn't available in EVERY STATE! NO, WAIT, MAYBE I DO, but that doesn't mean I don't think every citizen should be able to vote early or by mail if standing in line on election day isn't going to work for them. For me, it's my first day back to school. I was happy I could just go in today when not much else was going on and get it done!

If people truly understood the real problems we have, then we'd have riots. Look at the tax money the telecoms got to upgrade our infrastructure to fiber by 2006. They took the money and ran without upgrades. Sure, some places have fiber, but they took billions and did next to nothing and as a result cost us trillions in lost productivity and any chance of the tax payer to recoup our investment.

Some folks actually have difficulty getting to the voting place because of circumstances. I voted two weeks ago and that option gives me an opportunity to look up candidates and issues on the ballet in my own time as my ballot was mail in.

I don't mind standing in line. I people watch who is there and how things are going at the polling place.

There is a huge number of people that never vote. I think it is a huge mistake. Look at the US election of 2016. Trump actually lost by 3 million votes and still got in. Had more people voted, Trump would have been history

Yea, we should be doing what we can to make voting easier, not more difficult. But it's hard to convince the other side when they actually do better when fewer people turn out. That's why we need to make sure we fight through the obstacles and turn out no matter what.

Speaking of making voting more available, I am hoping we get restoration of voting rights for felons who have served their time on the ballot. Given the number of Republicans who appear to be joining the ranks of the felons of late, perhaps they will lend this some support on this round.

You live in Florida, thats why theres no mail in voting. Its calked a form of voter suppression.

Well, all states offer an absentee ballot option (which my Dad as a disabled 88 year old guy takes advantage of now), so TECHNICALLY there is a mailed option, but you do need to have something of a case for that option. Florida at least offers early voting and even most counties offer at least one early voting day on a Saturday, so that is very helpful to people who work all day on Tuesdays or who can get someone to watch their kids on Saturday so they can vote or whatever. I came from PA where there is NEITHER mail-in nor EARLY and stood in hours long lines most years to vote. So, Florida giving us a week where we can vote at a more convenient time with shorter lines seems like a real upgrade to me!

I've voted early in the last few elections. It's so much easier than standing in line on the big day. I can't imagine standing in line for hours and hours like I see happening in some states.

It just seems like it favors people who don't have all day jobs, small kids, transportation issues, etc. IOW, many of the people who have a lot to gain or lose. My job is a 12 hour shift from 5:45am to about 6:30pm. To get to a polling place before it closes with people at home who want feeding it is just undue hardship but it's not like I'm traveling or handicapped so early voting or vote-by-mail is great for people who cannot stand in line for hours on election day. IMO should be offered by EVERY state.

In many, perhaps even most, European countries the non voters represent more votes than the top parties can attract. This is not necessarily an expression of disinterest or laziness but often to express the conscious decision not to endorse a totally corrupt system and its flawed processes.
