When you work at a garden center and spend your days trying to remember all the cultivars and one day you're walking home and see a dandelion at your feet.

I love the Gandalf paraphrase, lol.
Dandelions are important early spring nectar sources for early season moths and butterflies. I leave them be. My gripe is with the tyrany of monoculture lawns. Very unnatural! I am trying to replace my lawn bit by bit with raised beds of various things. Eventually what's left I want to swap for other groundcovers that don't need mowing. That is my front yard, anyway. My back I have let become somewhat of a meadow. There is always something blooming there, which is intriguing.

Ah, it's easy! ...A dandelion is a flower. Its scientific name is Taraxacum, a large genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. lol! 😀 It's that time again!

after 3 years pf painstakingly eliminating every dandelion in my yard, I walked out to see my son and 2 of his friends with bouquets of the puff balls running all over the yard. gave up.

When you try to call a Hibisucus a Bougainvilla (as has happened to me), you know it's time to quit...or at least back off...

Robecology Level 9 Mar 24, 2019

Don't quit, just invent the names like everybody else.

Oopsie ???

I mix up Begonias and Geraniums all the time. Gah.

Yes I know that feeling, sadly, plants sometimes go out of your world for years and then come back again.
