I have been noticing that for a while there I forgot how to love. Not only love others but to simply love myself, and that's why I have been unable to connect with others on a compassionate and deeper level. But lately it's all been coming back and dating life has been going interestingly. I am forming bonds, connections, feeling intrigue and interest, getting excited and having desires, giving it all a chance again. Heartbreak takes a while to recover from but time heals all wounds. I never thought the ability to love would be forever lost to me, and I know now it's no use chasing what's never to be.
It's always important to allow yourself to feel and let people in. If you don't your missing an entire part of your life. Heart break does heart but to stay there only cause undue harm to yourself and gives too much power to those who have hurt you.
Can I ask you a personal question. How many lovers have you had?? I want to know.
Welcome back, enjoy it and never look for perfection!
I envy you. I'm not sure I ever knew how to love. I know how to form an attachment. I know how to treat someone I care about, but I don't know to care about myself.
@amyramoon I keep hearing about "loving yourself" but what would that look like? How is it different from being self-absorbed or narcissistic?
@amyramoon Self-acceptance? Self-nurturing? I'm keeping myself alive, and I don't mind being alone most of the time. But I'm not fun to be with - if I was fun I'd be the first to notice.
