Well, here it is. Today, Friday the 13th, would have been our 11th wedding anniversary. And to make matters worse, Monday would have been his 35th birthday. Yeah, he was only 30 when he took his own life.

I woke up, rolled over, and bam. Like why can't I forget for just a few moments?

My mother is headed to my house. We're going to shop, and hang out. She's spending the whole weekend with me. The family doesn't want me to be alone. I jam packed the weekend full of stuff to distract myself. Well, at least to try to distract myself. I tell myself it's been almost 5 years (in August), and I should be getting over this, and moving on. But it's really just not that easy. No, it's not as hard as it used to be. But that doesnt mean it doesnt still suck.

He was supposed to be here for a long time. We were supposed to grow old together. We made that promise to each other 11 years ago today.

I'm going to find a happy picture of him, and post this. Thanks for listening.

Cheryl and i married on friday march 13, 1981 at a courthouse at manhattan, kansas. we met while i was in the army stationed at ft. riley. there were, at the time, still signs out telling us g.i. guys to stay off the lawns, though they disappeared during my stay there. she succumed to cancer december 2016, a couple of months shy of our 36th anniversary.
I hope you have the time and desire to heal. i know its taken me these last 18+ months to try to adjust myself to life without my (truly) better half. i do hope it doesnt take you anywhere near that long.
be well. i hope you find happiness once more.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for your kind words.

We were stationed at Ft Riley from 2008 to 2010, but we lived in Junction City. Great little town.

@Sara72712, my in-laws lived somewhere off 16th street (been a few years, theyre both buried on base now) in a mountain dew green house (hershel wanted to paint it whore house red, but chris was adamant against that, so green it became). he had retired from the big red 1 in 71 i think.
i was stationed there 79-81. b co. 3/24 armor. Cheryl was a graduate of JCHS. 75 i believe.
