I am eight years a widow and and I am still incredibly sad when I think of my beloved. Memories don’t comfort me, like everyone said they would.
Warning this poem maybe a trigger.

I Heard Your Voice In The Wind Today

I heard your voice in the wind today
and I turned to see your face ..
The warmth of the wind caressed me
as I stood silently in place.

I felt your touch in the sun today
as its warmth filled the sky ..
I closed my eyes for your embrace
and my spirit soared high.

I saw your eyes in the window pane
as I watched the falling rain ..
It seemed as each raindrop fell
it quietly said your name.

I held you close in my heart today
it made me feel complete ..
You may have died .. but you are not gone
you will always be a part of me.

As long as the sun shines
the wind blows
the rain falls ..
You will live on inside of me forever
for that is all, my heart knows.

If my late partner thought I was still pining for her years afterward she would comeback and kick my butt. Even though we had a wonderful, loving relationship I was told (and I knew) she would maybe give me 2 weeks (mourning). She was a realist and refused to let emotions run her life. I'm not so strong but thinking of her gives me strength.

Thank you. I'm doing my best to move on like he would have wanted me to. If there was a God he/she would've let me keep him.

memories and sorrow linger. it's natural. but you have to come to terms with pain, solitude and remembrances if you want a normal life. dwelling on misery only takes you deeper into an abyss of grief. I lost my wife three years ago. I can share your feelings.

Beautiful poem....sad but beautiful. I too have been a widow for almost eight years and from time to time feel sad. There is nothing I can say to you that you haven’t heard before so I won’t. I will say that I am here if you want to chat and in the meantime I am posting a song written and sung by Beth Nielsen Chapman called I Find Your Love which your lovely poem reminded me of. She composed this after she lost her own husband a few years ago. I listen to it often when I am thinking of Peter and it brings me comfort.

@Alvinsmama Yes...me too, that is why I’m not looking for another.

@Holiday We are all here for each other in this group. Only we can understand. ❀️
