Do you feel weird when asked to approve someone's comment on a post? I mean, the comment made by someone of lower levels. If it were my own posts, I don't hesitate but someone else's post is another matter. Do you do it (approve or disapprove)? I do approve them sometimes because I kinda feel sorry for the commenter. I feel compelled to help out a newbie or newer member.

I like a post because I want to, not because I'm ask to.

It’s not about liking a post. It’s about approving a post. If you choose No then the comment won’t be posted (or at least theoretically that is the case). It is a perk of level 6 I think. Or 7.

@graceylou Yeah it really doesnt have that much weight. If you disapprove itll get shown to the admin, they still have to disapprove before it won't get posted. I spite disapproved one just to find out once lol, either multiple other approvals or one review from the admin cancelled it out, no big deal. no real reason to feel weird or bad either way. Your input can only help expedite the approval or flag for the admin to see sooner perhaps in the worst case. We don't have moderators and its a clever way of sharing the workload and getting a consensus without any real risks.

I don't hesitate to approve comments. I guess I might hesitate if it were offensive or badly off-topic, but I haven't encountered any of those yet.

I've been a moderator and list owner in other places. I would always approve unless inappropriate to the group or hateful.

4

I don't mind doing it because their voice is important too. The only way I would pass it by would be if there was something really threatening or foul. But I have not seen any like that.

4

I have only disapproved once or twice. I feel fine about approval..unless, it is hate speech! It is not my job to judge opinions.

(Disapprove)

No I don't feel weird. It's just a system that creates some inconsistent oversight in exchange for a modicum of power to sate some higher level members. I for the most part approve everything and move on. I read it first but have had yet to find something I question enough to consider denying.

I feel weird all the time.

No, I don't feel weird at all. I'm happy to provide a service.

3

I approve them unless they are unquestionably inappropriate and so far I have approved them all.

I do feel weird. I start to tremble. Power is a terrible thing.

I don't understand the reason for this feature. Only once did l disapprove. I don't remember the post, but it must have had to do with race or Trump.

There are no moderators; thus, admin spreads the work (duty) around to many.

I will nto approve or disapprove of a comment just because I am asked to do so. That choice rest solely on my own judgment.

2

As long as it contributes to the conversation, I will approve without hesitation!

2

It makes me a little uncomfortable because I think everyone has a right to express themselves, even if it's opinions I don't agree with but this feature helps reject utright hateful, racist, etc comments.

2

I don't feel weird and mostly like this system bc it seems to keep trolls and missionaries out.

I can't think of any I haven't approved, but so far they've all gone with the flow of conversation and were legit. I approve a legit post even if I disagreed with the content, I figure we're just supposed to screen for stupidity.

Is that the power that the gods grant us when we reach the summit? Have I stumbled upon some great secret of the cosmos?

Approving or disapproving pending posts is a L6 perk, you can review posts from people L1-L4 before they're public. It seems like most people here are L5 and above so it doesn't come up often

I think it's odd. I've approved a couple. I consider myself still a newbie, so it's weird.

I’ve not disapproved anyone yet.

I have no idea what you are asking. Members/posters are asking you to "approve" of a post?

Did not know i could do that.

I've never seen a comment that I disapproved, not agreeing is another matter. (I hope) It would be self-evident if I did disapprove one.

Because I've been here longer doesn't make my comments more valuable than theirs. I almost always approve and never disapprove. I haven't seen any that I felt were inappropriate or abusive.

It is a perk of the Levels. Nobody Makes you do it, if not comfy, ignore!

If it’s my own post they are commenting on I would instantly approve (haven’t seen anything to disapprove yet). If not, I kinda feel strange either approving or disapproving but I would approve if it’s not an offensive comment.

Good question!

It has never come up. If I like someone's post, I just like it. No one asks and I don't give endorsements at all.

I always click yes.

I will approve and if someone has an issue ill explain what i felt or whatever, for the most part i haven't run into to many people fighting and arguments on this site, which is a very big plus

I've only approved, never disapproved. I stay away from political and controversial posts so I don't see much in the way of offensive rude comments.

@graceylou thats pretty much the way to go..really
