I agree with Maher but only in so much that social activism seems to be going in the wrong direction sometimes, and it needs to learn how to go in more than one direction at a time. Both of our major political parties are having problems from within and if the Dems do not get it together they will throw people toward the more than awful GOP. Americans are being convinced that they are not entitled to anything and the Trumpians are doing right by taking it all away. Maybe it's a new direction for trickle down economics. When Trump fails his supporters will claim he was not left alone to do his job. Strange when his party has had the majority for over 2 years. Watch for this to happen in the future. Conservative talk radio is talking about it right now.
