Are there childish or childlike activities that you still enjoy?
I collect plush toys/stufffed animals and canβt sleep without one. I collect Hello Kitty anything. I enjoy animated movies almost more than I do live action.
I have Strawberry Shortcake dolls on my dresser, and sometimes when I'm feeling out of sorts I smell their hair (smells like happiness and childhood). I love to color. I watch Disney movies, and tv shows like "Good Luck Charlie." My socks never match. I will build with Lego for hours. I like to play in the rain and splash puddles. I also try to build an igloo and a snowman every time it snows.
If you call farts "barking spiders" I'll laugh for a full hour
At age 65, I still:
Kiss the author's picture after finishing a wonderful book.
Do an silly Happy Dance when delighted. This makes people laugh.
Hug trees, especially majestic, old-growth giants.
Crush cedar tree needles and rapturously smell them.
Take a nap when tired.
Read while eating, a terrible habit. At age 8, my daughter gave me a book weight to hold books open on a table. I'd been caught. Sit down, and I look around for something to read.
As a kid, I thought the milk carton said "Damn Fresh." "That's awfully bold of them," I thought. I needed glasses. It said "Dawn Fresh."
I'm a big gamer. I love playing games with friends and family, tabletop games in particular (RPG'S, Boardgames, Card Games, Miniatures). In fact I've got my folks hooked on Ticket to Ride, Potion Explosion, and most recently Sentinels of the Multiverse (my personal favorite).
We love Ticket to Ride!
@Donotbelieve your enthusiasm is duly noted and appreciated. What's your distraction of choice?
@Donotbelieve, @Minta79 my folks are hooked! They have almost everything for it. They play all the time.
@Donotbelieve that's a classic. I have a couple friends that have everything for it.
@Donotbelieve how old are your kids? Do you play any other games with them?
I collect those silly bobbing sun catchers toys....also, I make felt flower dolls and mermaid dolls...I wear mixed matched socks...I have two piggy banks...and I make up songs about people when I am driving...
I wear mismatched socks too sometimes. Usually gaudy bright colours or with silly prints on them.
@graceylou Those are the best kind! And, I also have Hello Kitty stuff...shhhhh...ha ha ha
@thinktwice I wanted to get my firearms permit then get me a pink Hello Kitty rifle, but they tell me I canβt shoot people. Well, what else would I shoot. I wonβt shoot animals (non-human ones). Oh well, no Hello Kitty rifle then.
I have played video games since I was a kid and still do.
Open Arena (1st person shooter) played first row behing a screen that is over seven feet high with thousands of watts of power feeding dozens of speakers is occasionally a hair-raising experience as if an opponent is close, they appear larger then you on the screen. Haven't had time to play in a long time but video games are fun.
I make cartoons. It was actually a childhood dream of mine.
I have many stuffed animals as part of my decor as pillows/cushions. I sleep with one or two to take up the space left by mastectomy.
I have about 5000 stuffed animals. And I love to go to Build a Bear. Iβm not allowed to get anymore stuffies but my SO buys them for me now and then anyway. I get keychain stuffies now so they clip on my bags and purses.
@graceylou Yup, got those too.
@SpikeTalon Well I'm still here, after more than 13 years.
Most of my hobbies have roots in childhood activities of mine but arent inherently childlike. When I was little Id peck around on a keyboard, play drums on pots n pans, wittle sticks, build lego and erector sets, and play ninja turtles with foam nunchucks or a mop handle.
Now I play a full sized electric piano, real drums, work out with rattan bo staff, hardwood nunchaku, build and repair electronics, make wood carvings. I just do the real versions of all the fake things I used to pretend with, because Im a grown ass man and if I want to give my hands arthritis and nearly take my head off with real weapons, by god I will ?
I guess video games and drawing are the things that have changed the least but those arent necessarily childlike pursuits these days either. When I really wanna feel like a kid again I watch old nick at night shows with a big bowl of reese puffs.
Greatly enjoy animated movies (collection has over 100 disks of animation). When I was very young I was into speakers and amplifiers. I am still upgrading the home theater sound system.
Playing in the dirt.
It's now referred to as "gardening".
I love warhammer 40k I love painting and collecting the models and I enjoy gaming with friends itβs a hobby Iβve never stopped since being s
I still build models. It's very relaxing for me, with a nice sense of accomplishment.
