Do you suspect there is an evangelical arm of atheism that wants to convert religious practitioners to non-belief or at least is intolerant of religious thinking?

I am an agnostic, not an atheist, and hell yea, I want them to stop behaving like dead-brain sheep. That is why we have what we have in Washington, why we have endless war, and numerous other stupidities far to many to mention. They blame it on Satanism, but you'd be hard pressed to fill a football stadium in America with Satanists . . . no, it is not the Satanists, the Illuminati, or whoever the fuck you want to blame short of the religio-Nazi christians who are supporting endless war, war crimes, the merger of church and state, and if you do not see a danger in that and feel any compassion for the victims of it, then you may be just as brain-dead as they are.

There are people who want to de-convert people, but that's just as bad as the religious evangelicals. Zealotry is zealotry.

What is religious thinking ? Is it, "I must be nice to people and the planet because it would be wrong to offend against the gentle spirit." or is it, "We have to kill all who do not conform to our rightful doctrine, because god tells us that even allowing their existence is a stain on our souls." ?

What sort of religion? Because if you evangelize against the first then you are wasting time and are intolerant, and if you do not evangelize against the second, then you share the guilt of those who stand by silent and thereby condone crimes with their silence. The question is the sort of over simplified, 'either or' duality beloved of appologists who want to put a stop to thinking.

What the Hell are you trying to foment?

We must be militant. . . . Too many of those people are attacking us.

Yes. I'm not an acting evangelical atheist, but I'm certainly a sympathizer, so there must be those right of me. Can you blame them? I mean let's face it. Atheists are right about everything involving religion except knowing precisely where the universe came from.

Suspect? It’s well beyond suspicion.

Never met one

No. There are plenty of people who will work to persuade people into being an atheist. But part of the thing about evangelist is that they are fundamentalist. So I don't think it is possible.

I usetabe an anti-theist. But it's just another form of unnecessary hate. Religion is a tool used by man. Nothing more. It's a very powerful one thus it is subject to being misused by bad people. But you can no more define it by those bad examples than you can define mankind by Stalin or Pee Wee Herman. If you MUST hate then hate the playa, not the sport.

Yes! I am am evangelical militant atheist!

Most certainly. One can merely scan the post topics here to confirm.

Oh, sure. Baby atheists and born again xtians are two sides of the same coin. They've had this paradigm shift in their own thinking and have a compulsion to try and convert others. They give the rest of us who are just out here living our lives a bad name.

This type of issues do not keep me up at night

I'm not sure if you can use the word "evangelical" when you talk about atheists because the word comes from the Greek evangelion meaning "the good news" or "gospel" so it has already been usurped by Christians a long long time ago. Since you are using the word convert in your question maybe something souding less Christian than evangelical could be "a transformative arm of atheism" - just a thought.

1

I have no desire to convert anyone. I just wish they would outlaw organized religion because of the social danger of their obsession with fantasy.

no.

I don’t suspect, I know there is.

The Republican Party has become, among other things, a Trojan Horse for Evangelicals to infiltrate our government. There should be a movement on the scale of the Civil Rights Movement or the Womans Movement to oppose the slimy bastards. Their goal is Theocracy and if you believe it's unthinkable think again. Since the 2016 election they have made tremendous strides on the war against science. Row v Wade is hanging non by a thread as hill billy states pass laws with the intention of getting the issue before the newly born again Supreme Court. I Believe non believes are a majority in this country but most don't want the stigma of heathen to jeopardize their family or employment situations. Whether by genius or just plain dumb luck we now have a president so foul he needs heavy dose of impeachment. BUT the next in line to have his finger on the button is a zealot who prays every night for Armageddon. Total win win for the god squad. We are FUCKED! .Unfortunately the good guys feel it's just not a good look to care about shit. Yep righteously FUCKED. .

I'm not an atheist, but no.
As an agnostic, however, I'm afraid I personally lack the charisma, charm, intelligence, persuasiveness, and desire.
Christians and Muslims think god demands it, plus it'd be wrong NOT to save sinners from hell, on purely humanitarian grounds. I DO appreciate their good intentions. Nice people. Mean well.
Atheists and agnostics only care, if they do at all, in the same way they might hate seeing an animal be mistreated, or they'd rather the planet not be destroyed.
On the other hand, atheists KNOW and agnostics SUSPECT it really doesn't matter in the long run.
Still, VOTING is recommended

0

Most certainly. This is because religious thinking has no logic or evidence. Religious thinking believes in advance.

0

Not that I'm aware of.

Since any group has a range of views within it, there will clearly be some who wish to convert others to atheism
