Let this thought sink in in your mind... Every day I come out of the house... I see beggars... Asking for a quarter... Looking for a handout... Needing help... I am in Las Vegas, Nevada. I never see a single Mexican Begging... Why is that? Or to put it straight up with no Chaser... I am a Latino... I never see Latinos asking/begging for money... And this state... this city is full of us/them. Let that thought sink in.

After some thought I remembered that my uncle used to work for the IRS in El Paso, He said that Mexicans who work in the US pay taxes and do not file for what they should get as a return, if they did it would cost the US billions, and this was back in the 1970's. I would assume that it is the same now.

Realities never mentioned.

It sounds like you see only what you want to see. And don't see what you don't want to see.

I don't see you... right about now.

Maybe the lazy ones stayed in their country.

Thank you for posting this. As a white woman I bring up how nasty white folks are, does not please some but I do not care.
I love diversity, sadly I have felt the animosity from some in ethnic areas where I've shopped or traveled and I can understand. I do not understand what the white man has done thru out history to non-whites and continues to do today.
It is a two way street and I want/wish we could all just get along. 🙂

Immigrants are by definition emigrants from their home country ... they are the risk takers, usually entrepreneurial, prepared to gamble everything by leaving friends, family and all they know to start a new life. They may not all succeed, but they will all put in maximum effort. The indiginous indolent do not like to see their success (or anyones come to that)

Without question. People feed Mexicans so much shit for standing outside of Home Depot looking for odd jobs or coming across the border for work, but at least these folks are trying. What the hell is some pan handler doing to contribute to society?

There are plenty of White and Black homeless who do the same thing. In the South, it's called "catching out".And keep in mind, only a microscopic percentage of homeless "panhandle". Most consider it too demeaning.

I totally agree.

It's always white men holding crappy cardboard signs:

Homeless vet
Anything helps

Latinos are hard-working people.

You are judging the entire homeless population on the behavior of a microscopic minority.

@davknight

I do not judge homeless population. You are mistaken.

Driving in Wenatchee, the only people holding signs asking for money are white. Ninety percent are white men; the rest are white women. In Wenatchee, 25% of the population is Latino.

When I moved to Wenatchee, WA in 1984, the only homeless shelter was for men.

As a volunteer, I co-founded the Women's Resource Center, providing shelter and services for homeless women and children. Now the Women's Resource Center is a United Way agency that provided shelter for over 1,000 low income people last year.

@LiterateHiker More "diversity" amongst panhandlers will not solve the homeless problem And in a country that is 67% White, I would expect to see a preponderance of White panhandlers. And what exactly is "wrong" about being White? Or male? You need to re-examine your logic!

I do agree. They are very good folks.

It is very sad that we treat Latino people the way we do. My grandson is adopted from Guatemala and I worry a lot

Teach him well and he will take care of your worries. He is Our Future.
