@GreatNani I voted republican back in early 80s in a local election when I was 18 or 19 but have been independent ever since.

But I started following my local republican reps on facebook and do sometimes take a look at what the other side is saying about stuff

But I fill out their polls with the opposite of what they want to hear

@Lucy_Fehr and I have followed some republicans because it is good to know what the other side thinks. This may be why they tracked me.

@GreatNani These data collection algorithms typically don't process hard data such as content and poll opinion because of how difficult that is and instead look at meta data such as who you have followed and how much interaction with them you have had.

If you want this kind of stuff to stop, you have to go to the root of the problem and remove it, but I feel like most people don't know their data Is being used or how valuable it is, and I especially don't think people understand what it means for democracy in general.

@Happy_Killbot I have no idea how to do that. I think it is scary and maybe be impossible to stop completely?

I would think you could block them, if you can’t get them to stop sending those messages.

@Haemish1 the RNC. I can't block them because it is a different number every time they text. It is actually stressing me out.

@jlynn37 yes. I report as spam and delete. But it is actually really concerning that they are spamming people this way. I don't think they should be allowed to do that.

File a complaint with your state attorney general and Secretary of State (if that’s who controls elections where you are). There are laws regarding this type of campaign behavior.

@GreatNani oops i didn't see the above comments; ag dot com scrolled right down to the end and i went back up. so i asked: who is doing this to you? there must be a way! if it's being texted, there should be a phone number you know from that. is it the same number every time? you could even call the police. it's harassment.

@genessa I live in DC now. We use to live in MD. I actually enjoy living in DC. Strange as that sounds.

@GreatNani it doesn't sound strange to me. i like living in certain cities and d.c. would've been an interesting place to live. i certainly saw enough of it to speculate that on an educated basis lol. are you old enough to remember the balloon man in georgetown? i think you might be too young by a decade but i will ask anyway!
