Nope. But I like to look at others' Christmas light displays. And nativity scenes don't offend my sensibilities in the slightest. In the early 1900s, a group of Wobblies got arrested up in Washington state. And the cops were surprised they had set up a Christmas tree. "I thought you guys were atheists!" one of the cops said. The Wobs replied that they were celebrating the birthday of "the carpenter of Nazareth, and the fisherman of Galilee"

My kids have long outgrown the excitement over holiday decorations, and I'm way too lazy to do it just for me. For the past couple years, I have hung a big snowmen wreath on the front door and called it a day.

I like pretty lights, but I'm single and don't have someone to nag me to take them down before easter.

Put up the Festivus pole. You know...Festivus for the rest of us......who don't celebrate Christmas.

How else would Santa find your crib ?

Yes. It helps keep the winter gray away.

Which agnostics?

I've always been an atheist. Christmas is so commercialized I never really thought about it being a religious holiday when I was growing up. It is a secular holiday for many people. I sometimes do decorate for the holiday spirit, never for the religious stuff.

Me, too.

"You" agnostics? Its not a club, or at least if it is I've not been invited. So, I can't speak for other non-theists, but we do decorate our house for Christmas. With the bones of Christians, Muslims and Jews. They make good coat hangers too!

Yeah..I also noticed the "you people" diss of agnostics, like he is some religious person just visiting the agnostic forum out of curiosity.

As an atheist since age 13, I decorate for Christmas in a secular way:

  1. Hang stockings I made for my daughter and her husband.

  2. Display handmade dolls made by my great aunts and uncles.

  3. Set up a lighted Victorian village on the table.

  4. Display my Santa collection.

Had a chat with a fellow local Atheist today, he's just restored an old hand printing press and intends to produce " Happy Solstice" greeting cards with " Remember, the Solstice IS the ONLY Reason for the Season" printed on the inside.
I've ordered a pack of 2 dozen at $5.00 per pack, some will be going my other Atheist friends around town, the rest will 'miraculously' be appearing in letterboxes of local Churches, etc.
Other than that, xmas for me will be spent much as it has been since my Nephew, Henry, was born, i.e. giving presents and having xmas lunch with him and his parents.

I still have some Halloween items around (no lights though) - each year I find another. They're year round .

I have a tiny tabletop tree, that has all sorts of weird stuff on it ... dinosaurs, sharks, miniature items etc, and lights. It's very cute and happy - but if I'm not in the mood to bring it out - it remains in the closet, till the next time, or beyond !

I used to put up a homemade lit peace sign outside around now - but no more.

I thought Halloween was "All hallows day" about the third most important Christian date after Easter and Christmas. I really don't understand the trick or treat bit. Perhaps just a commercial spin off?

@Catholic Here ya go : [history.com]

@evergreen thanks for the link. Fascinating.

I don't. I live on my own and my place is too small anyway.

Hell yeah! I put up my Day of the Dead tree(topped with my angel of death) every year! Oh, and my collection of Abominable Snowmen!

Pics, please! 🙂

@nomorechristian I'll post after Turkey day! Well, for me, fake turkey day!😉

I have and do put up a tree and decorate it Star Trek ships from hallmark plus other "non" traditional ornaments
Then I play songs like the
Kinks "Father Christmas"
Vandals "Oi to the World"
Dem Yoppers "Rusty Chevrolet"
Plus others...
Also have a fondness for Bing Crosby & David Bowie duet

Not really. Cats and trees don't go together, but I do like the lights for the change in ambiance and some years put some up. Thinking I might this year but more for Thanksgiving since I'm hosting.

You are not supposed to put the Cats in the tree! Do I need to come over there!

@PondartIncbendog Ha! I like that you capitalized Cats.

You bring the tree, I have the Cats.

@itsmedammit Ok, I got the tree cut. I'm leaving now. I'm walking with my thirty foot tree. I'll be there tomorrow.

@PondartIncbendog Ok, soups on. Careful of your back.

It is the season where in I am fond of saying, "Remember to keep Santa Claus in Christmas."
There is no harm in celebrating what has become a folk festival rather than a religious holiday. A decorated pagan pine tree is NOT a Christian symbol. Celebrate and have fun.

2

A little. I really like Christmas lights.

I almost never put anything up, but once in awhile I'll put up the lights. I like the soft and different mood.

@itsmedammit Yes. I have been disappointed in the lack of outdoor lights around here in the last few years.

2

oh hell yes!

I do. I love that stuff. Although, no religious stuff. But the tree, lights etc. I always do.
I also don't do the whole presents thing. I have a few friends that we gather and pretty much have a party.

2

I think it would be ok to decorate., just keep[ the religion out of it, I got a small pine tree about two feet high with snow, artificial one like the Charlie Brown tree I bought a bunch of cool Halloween stuff on sale after Halloween displayed in my living room also, it's crazy, like the Munsters house, just have some fun and stay away from the religious side of it all, reasons greetings, happy winter solstice. merry winter solstice.

2

I'm sure some do.

It's time off from work and I get to spend time with family. That is it. I don't celebrate or decorate.
