Race is a political concept, with social & economic implications, and without any biological or scientific validity. None!

When asked about race, I tell people "There is only one race. The human race".

No matter the colour/tone of the epidermis, underneath it we ALL are the same, cut us and we bleed red, injure us and we feel sorrow and hurt, we started off a mere specks, a melange of chromosomes in a cell that was fertilised by yet another melange of chromosome in a cell, grew into a baby and were born into this world in pretty much the same way as everyone else, are we not then humans all of 1 species?

Brilliant! Just for a moment, I wish for a fantasy in which all racist bigots required a blood transfusion, and their donors just happened to be from a 'race' they despise. We must overcome this tendency to "otherize." On our Pale Blue Dot, with so many problems that can only be solved collectively, this Balkanization instinct which leads people to break away into smaller and yet smaller groups, is simply unsustainable. A return to tribalism in opposition to globalism might just kill us all.

if those families from the deep south were to do a dna test about 80% would find that that they have african ancestry in their background......get over yourselves people!!!

In actual fact, whenever anyone has a blood transfusion they can NEVER know where and from whom the blood was sourced originally since blood has NO identification markers unless a DNA test is performed on it.
I was reading an article in a medical Journal I still subscribe to yesterday where, during the Vietnam War, a very bogitted U.S. high ranking Officer flatly refused a blood transfusion UNLESS proof could shown that the blood he would receive came from a WHITE solder and NOT an African-American one.
FFS, blood is blood, it knows no colour nor ethnicity.

"A return to tribalism in opposition to globalism might just kill us all."

Unfortunately, I just do not see how tribalism has ever left us. There are just more tribes that are now larger than ever. We call them cities, states, provinces and countries. All of these are fictions that do not actually exist, like races, but simply serve to divide us.

I do get that you mean in contrast to globalism. I just think that our technology, not our ideology, has been ushering this planet into globalism at an accelerated rate. It's odd because the tribalism I mentioned actually is serving as a roadblock to globalism.

I'm also not sure we should necessarily be against globalism, so much as we should be against a global government led by factions of powerful humans who control the planets resources. But that's another topic for another day.

@Triphid I understand how blood banks work, as I've been a volunteer. My fantasy that the bigoted recipient would be made aware of the donor's racial profile comes after their life has been saved. A fantasy, nothing more. Peace.

@p-nullifidian Actually, here in Australia only the Doctor looking after the patient can order a blood transfusion and then it is ONLY done by Blood Typing, Rh factor and it MUST have checxked and cleared of any AIDS/HIV infection or Antigens first.
This I know for a fact on account that,
a) I was a practising nurse for many years, and,
b) I was at my daughter's side 24/7 when she underwent Chemotherapy for Mature B Cell Lymphoma and the treatments often involve post therapy Blood Transfusions due to low Haemmoglobin and Platelet levels.
So-called Racial Profiles are NOT marked/printed on ANY blood products used in Australia.

@Triphid I fully understand, hence the choice of the term "fantasy."

If I believed in heaven/hell, my father is looking up, cursing, because his ancestors are Black! LMMFAO

We are all, so it appears, Africans. Skin pigmentation changes over time, but our roots are the same.

Not sure how many times I have tried to explain this to people here and elsewhere. It always seems to end with people arguing that race is "obvious", to them. The well known fact that we share almost all of our dna with even fruit flies and cockroaches does not seem to persuade most peoples biases, even though the evidence has settled our reality.

We are all the same human animal with variations between us. We are not special or unique as individual meat machines. It is our individual stories that make us unique, not our anatomy.

you can't reason with a turnip!!

@Redneckliberal Nor can you squeeze blood from it!

My avatar's observation on reasoning with the unreasonable was: “To argue with a man who has renounced the use and authority of reason, and whose philosophy consists in holding humanity in contempt, is like administering medicine to the dead, or endeavoring to convert an atheist by scripture.” Thomas Paine

I asked a high school teacher (1971) if skin color changed according to where we lived and how much sun we lived in, and he was condescending. I figured he was wrong. So nice to know I figured right. Already believed we all came out of Africa, so it was a matter of hypothesizing to get color change.

“We all are of the same stardust.” ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Exactly.

Begone, ignorant, mean racists!

Seems I've been arguing this exact notion all day on other posts. A good summary. Thank you.

Well said. I fully support these words.
