This article has zilch to do with racism. What the poster said about that is, in a way, sort of like Christians alleging that atheism is a "religion" (which of course is bullshit).

What a comedy of contending disputatious popinjays a few of the lesser of you have become, jumping all over the best eco - stalwart we have here. And because of technical computer problems probably beyond his control, when all that is at stake is yet another agnostic hill of beans. Oh well, another day at the office. And then, light. I see those smart and loyal hands in this good man's personal retinue.... you notify him succinctly and considerately of his error, and i get to thinking wouldn't they all make a splendid replacement cabinet for foundering Biden's, should push come to shove ........

When suddenly i realize that you all are actually hypocritical and complicit, through long pointed silence, and repeated denial of the obvious,, of the biggest propaganda manipulation of public opinion and outright thought control since the days of Joseph Goebbels. Almost Trumpian. And you silently accede to the censorship from agnostic administration that probably will have its hands on the trigger right soon should i dare type again the words feminism and BLM. Feeling free, smart, and sophisticated, my little pen - bunnies? How sad, how delusional.

The article says nothing about racism. Why did you?

Discrimination is usually about some sort of discrimination. Discrimination against atheist is a form of racism. Since race is non-existent the word tribalism comes into play. Tribes are not always about the color of one's skin.

@JackPedigo Racism is about RACE. Your desire to make up your own language is odd.

@Alienbeing ......Racism wasnt always the blount cudgel it is today. Now its any old pretext that results in the "racist-er" pouring the contents of his wallet, actual or metaphorical, into the bottomless pockets of the endlessly aggrieved "racist-ee". Its raining crocodile tears out there.

@Alienbeing It was a mistake which I admitted. Get off my back!

@JackPedigo ............This is exactly the sentiment that sane old - time advocates of civil rights and equality before the law feel in the face of today"s progeessive "great cultural revolution" against racism and sexism...........except we didnt make the mistake.

@JackPedigo In your 10/31 reply you continued to say, and I quote from your post "Discrimination against atheist is a form of racism." That is not admitting a mistake, it is a continued attempt to use your own definitions. Since atheists come in all races, discrimination against Atheists cannot be racist. It appears "racist" is our favorite fall back word.

By the way the first sentence of your 10/31 post says nothing.

I worship 2 things: Jack and shit. Like god, Jack doesn't exist. I could be convinced to worship the right woman, but that's a whole other thing.
The division between church and state needs to be held at all costs. The very loud minority of peeps that want this country to be a theocracy needs to die in a fire.
Unfortunately, the Supreme Court is stacked with catholics...... (I gag even typing that word).

I wouldn't exactly call them a minority...

Really!?

what is the secret allure of a catholic woman? they somehow do" women": better. but best stick with your dog. she will never do you wrong. theyre joyful and unfront. a woman is rarely either.

@JackPedigo Agreed. Really?
At best those fucks are a 3rd of our population and dropping by the year.
They just have people in high places.

Religious zealots are not sane by definition. Their only stock in trade is threats and logical fallacies.

Sorry but its moved on again, its about education now. It seems that your link goes to a blog type news page which changes often.

Funny, it didn't do that with me.

2

This article is about vaccine mandates and religious exemptions. Where is the racism?

@waitingforgodo unless there is something in between the lines, the article is about religious exemptions and vaccine mandates. You obviously have no grasp of reading comprehension. Confession through projection on your part

@Heavykevy1985 there is no mention of vaccines or exemption in the article.

Its moved on again, its about education now.

@waitingforgodo when I click the link, it is talking about vaccine mandates in Maine.

@Fernapple you are right. This is blog that changes its main article from one thing to another. Very clickbaity fro the OP.

Well in any group there are likely some racists, including atheists, but I don't see that atheists 'have become' racist --- the use of tense implies an ongoing trend to the present. What I do see is that attacks against atheism have become more and more shrill, and I certainly use that verb tense by intention. Atheism has been attacked for some years by some on political correctness steroids for so-called racism because atheists dare criticise culture and religion. They are wrong, but in any case who cares.

4

The article doesn't mention racism and isn't about racism.

Why did you mention racism?

I was wondering if there was anything about racism in there. I got bored of it halfway through looking for the connection and gave up. Thank you for slogging through that entire pile of drivel to know and share that it wasn't in there.

Several comments got me to thinking and I looked up the difference between discrimination and racism. There is a difference but they can also be the same under some circumstances. I should have used the term discrimination.

3

I have no doubt that racist atheists are out there. All atheism is about is a disbelief in gods. If logic prevailed this would go forward into many other things to make them a rational being. Unfortunately there is no logic. Atheists believe in anything that ever came up, all without proof, but they do not believe in deities of any kind. As for the religious, they do anything they can to get a foot in the door.

6

One of the reasons I really liked living in Maine was the lack of religious influences on most aspects of daily life, and government.

As far as I can tell, this is a bunch of xtian whackjobs who can't stand not being funded with tax dollars.

SCOTUS better get this right.

What are the chances that the court that allowed an abortion ban to stand in Texas is going to get this right?

@JeffMurray Yeah, I know. 🙄

@JeffMurray - The current make up of SCOTUS could be the reason the suit was brought when it was. They are expecting a restoration of Christian privilege in the US.

@RussRAB Opportunistic assholes.

@RussRAB Very astute. There were people all across the country that were testing bounds when Trump was elected so that they'd be ready to try to elevate their cases to the Supreme Court once Trump filled a seat or two (or three).

5

I didn't see anything about atheists becoming racist. I DID see that about 1/3 of atheist parents reported that their children experienced discrimination at the hands of religionists, presumably in secular schools. And it is a certainty that having religionists teach science means it will be taught incompetently.

The religionists suit claims a secular education is intrinsically discriminatory. As the prevailing belief system, that is surely more culture war propaganda that anything based on reality.

6

Religious neutral education is not atheist education. The First Amendment separation of church and state should mean the state does not endorse religion by financing religious education. Unless Christians are willing to be required to teach ALL religions including Satanism and atheism as a philosophy, they deserve no government support.

I think I linked to the same article as you did - the Carson v. Makin case, a very important case. The gall of the plaintiffs!

"The petitioners are not suffering discrimination but are instead seeking to privilege their beliefs and receive government funding for them, at the expense of religious minorities."

I suppose there may well be some/a few racist Atheists out there but, imo, NOWHERE near as many as number amongst those who are Christians and of other religious persuasions though.

There is a whole group of racist atheists on this site alone...

@JeffMurray Yes, I hear you and know it as well.

@JeffMurray would you care to name them, and thereby show some courage as to the consequences?

@David1955 Courage as to the consequences? Don't know what that means. Either way I'm not afraid of any thing you may consider a consequence of saying that the conservative atheists group is a big fat pile of racist pieces of shit. Anyone who supports a racist is, by extension, a racist, therefore, since Trump and most other Republicans are racists, the people who vote for them are as well. I wasn't trying to hide that fact. I assumed it was pretty clear what I meant. But if you need me to spell it out, there you go... Bring on the consequences.

@JeffMurray And WHOM may one ask are you referring to as being "conservative atheists?"
Btw, I'd stand on my grounds and say that it is my opinion that the U.S.A. ( Unequalled States of Arse-holes) would be by far the most racist country in the Universe in my opinion.

@Triphid The self-named group "CONSERVATIVE ATHEISTS"... What is so difficult about this??

@Triphid.@David1955
There are many racists on this site. I thought no one would have the courage to mention that. but thankfully at @JeffMurray did. You notice this very easily from their comments.

@Triphid and I agree with you that USA have by far the most racists.

@JeffMurray
"There is a whole group of racist atheists on this site alone..."
@DenoPenno

I SECOND THAT!

@TimeOutForMe with the exception of a few fruit cake conservative Republican Trump and gun loving so-called 'atheists' on this site, I have not formed the view that there are 'plenty' of racists here. I find the profile of the site to be quite progressive. Were this site riddled with racism I would have left long ago. @Triphid

@David1955 I wouldn't say this site is "riddled" with racism BUT there's definitely more than a few.
I'll start with @admin. I was pm'd when I joined this site and was directed to a South African-only site. @admin didn't make his intention clear as to why he directed me to that site so that left me "to read between the lines". Has that happened to any other non-American who joined this site? If so, I'd like to know. There's ONE EARTH. ...wasn't like I was on a different planet. Religion is global, Anti-Religious is Global, Climate change is global and so on...
Perhaps that's why slug.com was created? I wouldn't know 👀. I also viewed many of @admin polls ...and rolled my eyes at the choices/selection.
I usually have a stuff-you attitude most times but decided to stay🤷♀️. Luckily I did (stayed) because I've observed and absorbed, gained some knowledge and off course participated as well. ...and made some friends 😊. @Triphid @JeffMurray
Btw I did however join the local site and left shortly afterwards. In my opinion it was riddled with mostly ex-apartheid racist capitalists! who don't see or view what I do through my brown eyes and skin! Like some on here.

@TimeOutForMe Didn't anyone ever explain to the @admin. of this site that being from South Africa i NOT a race but a Nationality/

@JeffMurray May one assume that you are speaking entirely for and of thine own self ?

@Triphid Are you trying to suggest that the group that banned me after one comment, the group that I vehemently hate for more reasons than I could possibly count, the group that I consistently and unwaveringly shit talk and wish would "sink into the ocean" (or any other colorful variation of that phrase), the group that I've complained about in the Community Senate being stuck seeing their idiotic, illogical posts is a group I'm part of? Have you somehow never come across anything I've ever written on this site? I guess I need to introduce myself, and I'll be as clear as I can given how much confusion there has been about what I've said in this thread so far.

Hello, my name is Jeff, and I hate Republicans with every fiber of my being. One of the reasons I hate them is because they are racist piles of shit who elect racist assholes that enact racist legislation. It's nice to meet you for very first time, apparently.

Let me know if any part of that needs clarification.

@JeffMurray Do you hear what I hear, the tiny, almost inaudible sound of the world's smallest violin and it is playing JUST for you at this very moment.

@Triphid Is that what you get with 3 PhDs? The inability to add anything constructive to a discussion once you've realized you were wrong because a lowly BSN shouldn't be able to best you? Congratulations on tacitly admitting defeat by resorting to ad Hominem attacks.

@JeffMurray Oh hell no, there's a myriad of other better and more profound comments I could have made but I thought to myself, "Only fools waste good things by feeding swine with pearls."

@Triphid Suuuuure. Do you also have a really hot girlfriend, but we wouldn't know her because she goes to another school?

@JeffMurray Sorry but unlike those who shall remain nameless BUT everyone know of whom I am speaking I do NOT attend either Pre-schools, Kindergarten, Infants-Primary Schools, High Schools, Secondary, Terriary, Colleges or Universities seeking out naive, gullible little girls and young ladies to gratify my sexual desires/needs as do the scum to which I am referring.
I matured quite early, was engaged at 19 to a wonderful young woman who, sadly was diagnosed with Terminal Stage Leukaemia 3 months after we became engaged, she died 3 weeks and 5 days later in my arms.

@Triphid "Do you hear what I hear, the tiny, almost inaudible sound of the world's smallest violin and it is playing JUST for you at this very moment."

@JeffMurray Sorry but they do not award prizes for second place and definitely NOT for plagiarism.
