Sounds like you've had a gauntlet of crap recently. I hope things get better soon. I am told that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. That isn't true. it gives you some really dark coping skills, and PTSD. But I know all crap passes after a while. It is just hell while you're going through it.

This is the year I got old . My skin has turned crepy and the flesh on my arms is hanging down . I'm tired . My bones hurt . I'm afraid to take a bath on my own . It seems as if all the fun has gone out of my life .I'll be alone for the rest of my life .

You introduced several points beginning with climate change. Brings to mind this tragic bad-news/really-bad-news saying. Bad news is: This will likely be the warmest summer on record. Really bad news is: This will also likely be the coolest of future summers.

I share your concern about the Christians converting our once greater nation into a dark theocracy where women are reduced to breeding cattle for (insert expletive here) males who by religious decree rule over them. This is a very real world realization of a Handmaid's Tale and the stated goal of Christian Dominionists. I both fear and hate the descension of our once secular government/society into the darkness of unsupported religious dogma and superstition that appears to be practicing misogyny towards the concept that unlike men, women should no longer have any right to decide the outcome of their own bodies. Better to force a pregnancy that may kill the mother then allow her a healthy recovery by removing unwanted and in the case of an ectopic pregnancy, cells that will likely dictate the death of the woman.

I don't like heat either. But, it has been worse. In 1980 I was living in Kansas. That summer we had 30 consecutive days of 100+ temperatures, with he highs being 114. It was so bad that major highways were buckling, and asphalt side roads are actually melting. The whole state was full of prairie fires, too. I can remember arriving at the Wichita airport from a trip at 10 {M, and the temperature was still 105 degrees.

And I'm quite impressed with your grandson's bravery and strong nature to refuse pain meds. I imagine that was an awful process. I am so sorry that things are not going well for you. It is hot there, it is in the 70's here and without the breeze I would die, the humidity gets to me though it is not that high either.

Damn! Well, shit can change at any time. And one good thing about all those awful experiences: they're all in the past.

We are having a decent dry season here in the northern part of Oz. Our nighttime temps are in the single digits some nights (celcius) and during the day I am rarely putting on the fans until the afternoon. We have not had a dry like this for some years. I have even cracked out the doona and slippers.

My mum once had me with pulled muscles in both arms, my younger brother with a chipped bone in his elbow and my older brother with a fracture to a bone in his ankle. As we all sat in the lounge room wrapped up or in slings my mother would walk past and say "Life be in it be buggered!" (at the time there was an ad on TV to get out and be more physical with the slogan Life be in it. we all injured ourselves doing something physical outside) She was taking one of us to emergency/clincs every other day for a while there.
Hang in there your summer will end and then a cold winter will arrive.
