I was in the mood to see some religious programming this morning so I watched a Xian kids show and religious programming is exactly what it was. Teaching kids to worship and pray and obey and witness for Jebus all with puppets and cartoons and a lady hosting the show who was WAY too enthusiastic about driving these lessons home.

I do this sometimes. I'm curious what the other side is up to so I drop in and check it out. It's the same reason I sometimes watch Fox News. It always confirms for me that I'm right about atheism and correct that Republicans are fucking insane.

Try it. It's like trespassing where you don't belong and seeing weird and wacky shit.

I'm not a masochist, so fuck that shit.

I never subject myself to religious TV on what I think is public TV with donations from the public. I hadnl't even begun my coffee and turn on to this ad from Cassidy Church. What they don't say is more important than what they do say. Change the world huh? But going in the wrong direction. As in back peddling. Not necessary to watch video. It's also in black and white.

They (Republicans) are Insane...

I recently listened to some radio preaching about Noah's Ark. I was surprised....I thought the Adult Believers knew that it's Fiction, that it had become a children's story. Proved me wrong!

And there are adults who believe that a man survived in a whale belly for three days and the universe is only 6,000 years old.
And they want all children to be taught nothing but this in schools.

Noah’s ark is one of the greatest fairytales ever hallucinated.

I could see doing that if I liked to get high or drunk, but I dont' enjoy either. I think I'd want to numb my mind before subjecting myself to crap like that.

I feel like I need to clear so I can understand what I see and hear.

Kudos for keeping an eye on the enemy. It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.

I can't do that.
I'm all too familiar with the things they say and do.
There's nothing new. It's still the same old bullshit.

The religious messaging is all the same but the level of crazy and the politics with which it's delivered is different from speaker to speaker. You'd be shocked by some of the lunatics the Xians are following. Some of them, like Greg Locke and Lance Wallnau should be in jail for the shit they say.

I do the exact same thing on Sunday mornings with Joel Osteen. I also watch it through the lens of a producer: how the camera tracks him, the in close shots, the medium shots, audience, how often they change the perspective, lighting, etc.
The way they do those things makes his speech/stories more compelling to the audience, how it emphasizes emotion, pronunciation.
All of his good points, and life advice you can do without god, however, he clearly has to sell it with weaving scripture into it.
Some stories are kind of mind blowing, when he mentioned his sister was opening a letter intended for Joel, and it was a pipe bomb which injured her. And he so proudly quoted her sister saying in reply to the situation (paraphrasing), "No bomb can take me out, because I am the bomb!" and of course the audience went wild with applause and cheers.

I hear ya. Different preachers offer different experiences. Osteen is all warm and fuzzy while Copeland, Hagee, Locke and their ilk are loud and fiery and Kat Kerr and Paula White are certifiably insane.

Bakker is just pathetic.

I used to do that until I realize that they don't do anything new. Then it just became annoying.

It is a very good idea to familiarize yourself with what the other side say, think and do, so sometimes I force myself do that too.

But being "in the mood" for it ? Please, Please, Please, see your doctor and get them to review your medication before its too late.

I have to be ready for the shit I know I'm going to see and hear. Otherwise, I'll just shut it off after two mins.

Use to do that......any more it only stokes my resentfulness for religion and the harm it is doing, and I just have to comment that I think teaching children they are evil, and born that way, is a sin. Usually brings real backlash.....okay...I still do it occasionally....helps keep them stirred up.

Last night I ended up on a religious channel that has Larry Rice and his son. They actually do some good work for the poor but my reason to stay there a while is that they were showing Alan Ladd in the film "The Proud Rebel."

There is a Christian TV channel in the UK, TBN. UK. I sometimes have a quick look for a laugh. It's mostly demented preachers shouting inanities at the camera whilst their audience applaud and cheer. Crazy..

And it is mostly imported from the, "Land Of The Not So Free".
