Hi!….to all my US chums here on Agnostics….I just want you to know I’m thinking about you on the eve of what is a very important election for your country tomorrow. I hope the result goes the way you want it to…and without too much ensuing drama for the country in the aftermath!

I saw a post today that made me giggle a bit but its so true.. Today feels like the whole country is waiting for an STD test result. Nothing could be more accurate than this.

I feel your unease…all the way over here! 🤗

And the test came back positive. We do, in fact, have a disease.

Thank you!! I feel optimistic, however I recall all TOO vividly what happened 8 years ago. The cult of Trump is larger than anyone would have ever dreamed. I am positive if Donnie wins it is the end of the USA as we knew it.

It really is mind boggling isn't it? I'm hoping for the best, and have already cast my vote, but I'm not going to expect anything until all votes are counted. At least I'm trying not to expect anything!

@RhondaShotwell My ballot was dropped off a few weeks ago, and my kids got their ballots in even earlier than I did.

@HippieChick58 I even checked to make sure it was received and counted!!

@silverotter11 I went in person during early voting last week, and there wasn't anyone in there when I first got in and started to vote. A few came in as I was finishing up. It's a very small town, but I still didn't want to take a chance with a mail in ballot. If I go in person at least I know my vote got in. 🙂

@RhondaShotwell WA State has all mail in balloting, it's totally secure but the auditor's office did warn people with the way the postal service has slowed down it's best to mail it early or just take your ballot to the drop box.
It's very red where I live but we have democrats that are poll watchers.

Thank you. This is some scary shit!

Thanks, we can use all the good vibes we can get. I have a good feeling about it this time. Our job won't be over, but I think it will be a good start and a step in the right direction.

I fervently hope you’re right!

I do so hope you are right. My fingers are crossed and I'm sending all the good vibes I can muster. 🤗

I’m wondering if this site is restricting all political postings. If so, yours kind of slipped through, though I am not sure the algorithm would have flagged it as outright political. I guess we will see if so many of our banned friends are allowed back on to post after tomorrow.

I chose my wording very carefully you will note, so as to slip in under the radar!

@Marionville I just did the same! 😁

No, I posted about Quincy Jones passing and it's no where to be found.

@Marionville, @Barnie2years, @silverotter11 I have continued to post political posts, so far no bumping. It happens too quickly for it to be human intervention.

@glennlab I’ve not had anything bumped or disappeared…so far!

...dress warm!

I'm hoping it will turn out to be -45 in Hawaii too!

9

Thank you! Hoping for the best, but preparing for a let down.

9

Locating my passport!

I made sure mine had at least six months before expiring to avoid complications, and made sure all my kids had theirs, too. How sad.

I should have said my U ncle K evin's passport!

Mine is on my desk, I always travel with it. I keep it as my backup ID in case I lose my wallet.

it went my way and it did for the majority in a landslide .

@David1955 If you haven’t noticed ,the democratic party’s failure to address the rise of antisemitism within its ranks has reached a dangerous tipping point. Harris is the one you should be comparing to Hitler She has refused to change course on her pandering to far left jew haters in her party

@granny You nailed it

8

I sure hope Trump doesn't win.

Ditto, ditto, ditto and ditto!

8

Thank you. I know Trump would exacerbate global warming and, being unchecked, will affect the whole world. We are thinking and concerned about you also.

8

Thank you but I've been ignoring all reports. Here we have mail in ballots and I voted some time ago. I'm done and don't want to go through the stress of back and forth predictions.

I also submitted a quote but, as usual, got bumped off. I simply don't understand why. Maybe once we get bumped off our names goes in a list which makes it harder to submit.
Here's my quotes so maybe this won't be a waste of time.

“Reverence is the heart’s deepest form of respect, of love. It accepts that we, as individuals are not essential to the Universe.” Sister Wendy Beckett From the book “Pilgrim in the Great Bird Continent.” Essays on Darwin’s notes

I posted about Quincy Jones passing and it was disappeared into where posts go.

@silverotter11 I thought I saw it once but it could have been from another site too.

@silverotter11 It seems many of us are in this conundrum. I may have found a way around it. I just posted an item about the Washington Post but only made a small comment and then did a link. After it posted I made a comment to my post and explained the item in more detail and it went through. So far I've noticed comments haven't been censured.

@DenoPenno when I go to my page and click on posts it is not there. I'll try again with something pedgojr suggested.

@silverotter11 I also posted an item about the recent Boeing strike. The link (Seattle Times) didn't work as I don't have a subscription. However, I always try to find back alley ways. When I first got the item it was with the Times business section and it did work. I then went back into history and retrieved that item. Then copied certain items and added them to my comment under the original posting.
There doesn't seem to be a reason why some posts don't go through so I will try to do a basic, non-controversial post and if it goes through do more details in a comment to myself so others can see this. Sometimes we 'weak' humans can find ways to beat the AI bunch, for now at least.

I'm voting in person at my polling place tomorrow morning. I live in the country, and I expect a line, but nothing insurmountable. I just can't believe we're here, and nearly half of us are willing to enthusiastically flush our country down the drain. It's so surreal.

I am always amazed by the very idea of a line, in a county like the US, which at least claims to be a functional democracy. If such things as lines were to form in Britain for example, there would be outrage, it would be a major story in the newspapers, and the question. " Why the government failed to provide enough booths. " Would be the main public debate.

@Fernapple There would be a riot if all the voters didn’t get in to vote before they closed!

@Marionville I know, and yet they are told, and many believe, that the US is the most democratic nation on earth.

@Fernapple i early-voted last week and there was a line there, and according to the monitors, had been a line all day every day since the Early-voting started.
I take this to be very encouraging, but my state is Solid Blue and always has been, with a very small Electoral College "footprint".

@Fernapple I waited in line for about 45 minutes today.

@Marionville They close the line, not the polls. Those in line can vote.

@Andy4608 The very idea of having to form a line outside would be shocking to British and Europeans. We expect to go in and be given a booth immediately, if we were not, it would be seen a disadvantaging the old and ill etc. and unbalancing the vote.

@Andy4608, @annewimsey500 The very idea of having to form a line outside would be shocking to British and Europeans. We expect to go in and be given a booth immediately, if we were not, it would be seen a disadvantaging the old and ill etc. and unbalancing the vote.

@Fernapple There are several differences that have to be factored in.
Firstly there are relatively more polling places in the UK. Their numbers have been reduced here, especially in lower income/minority areas.
Secondly, the sheer number of items on the ballot (50+ in some jurisdictions), which slows the process down. The ballot then has to be fed into the machine and the confirmation printed.
Voting in the UK is relatively quick and easy, walk in, collect ballot, go to booth, apply pencil, walk out, lie to canvasser standing outside.

@Andy4608 That is probably one of the best ways to rig an election ever invented, best of luck with your broken democracy.

Buckle up kids we got 4 years of tfg.

It’s not looking good…

I really hope it is only 4 years. The day of the election I heard a pundit tell of a Russian citizen who said "You Americans are lucky. You do not know how your election will turn out. In Russian we always know who will win. You should embrace the not knowing". What I fear the most is that from now on we will always know ahead of time who is going to win the election. I fear that Trump now has the courts and both houses of congress and the project 2025 play book. He can postpone or cancel elections. He can pretty much do whatever he wants is the complete opposite of what I want. I am ashamed that a big chunk of my country wants him.

@MyTVC15 I fear the same. It has happened before, not on a national scale but in the south.
I'm so disappointed with the people who refuse to learn from history.

Take a look at Wikipedia’s list of the world’s forty-or-so most democratic nations.

The top two? Probably Norway or Sweden.

The USA? About #35 or so.

The three nations that LOST WORLD WAR TWO?

Germany? About #6. Italy and Japan? Both higher than the USA !

Think on that. The USA’s founders defeated a monarch and made what?

AN OLIGARCHY. From “RULED BY ONE” to “RULED BY A FEW.”

A DEMOCRACY IT AIN’T! Lower than Germany, Italy and Japan.

Voters in about sixteen states have the DIRECT INITIATIVE. A minority propose a law and put it on the ballot; a majority can make it a law. I live in one of those states.

Is your state a democracy? If not, do you want a democracy?

6

If he loses, it will be scary civil unrest. If he doesn’t lose, it will be even scarier.

A bumpy ride either way!

6

Thank you. I'm hoping we finally turn the corner on this frightful mess we're in!

6

Thank you, this could be an election for the ages determining whether we will be more like 1933 US or 1933 Germany.

6

Thank you so much!

5

Also wishing you guys all the best, as posted elsewhere. Will definitely be thinking of you all tomorrow. Stay safe.

Our ship has landed, and all will be much better now. For the next 4 years at least. 😊 [x.com]

Only time will tell that…

You and Musk can both fuck off.

@Redheadedgammy Awwwwe... Aren't you sweet. 😊 I hope you have a most MARVILOUS day... No, really, I do. I know I will. 😉😎👍

@Captnfeelgood 🖕

@David1955 PFFFFTT...BWaaaaaahahahaa... When will you all ever learn, Godwin's Law rhetoric is NOT your friend. 😆🤪 It LITERALLY sent SOOO many centrists and Libertarians and even MANY liberals, Hispanics and African Americans RUNNING to the right to vote for the one sane person that actually is NOT a politician, and actually does what he says he is going to do. But yeah, I know, orange man baaad.. 🙄 Part of me wants to feel bad for you, but I just don't. We'll use all of your liberal tears in the cooling systems of our MANY gas guzzling SUVs and dually trucks and vintage sports cars. 😅 Now suck the salt off of us peanuts, then crawl back under your rock and cry us some more coolant. 😂😅🤪😆

4

Thanks. I'm hoping for the same and will vote earlier in the day. I'm using my Missouri state approved GOP ID drivers license to vote with. I also have a voter ID card (it's a card only) and a Veteran ID card. Not looking for trouble in my small area but you never know about larger areas. Generally speaking we vote on Elm St. in a building connected to the library. One cop will be there and we have booths and tables. Then they show us how to feed our ballot into a machine that accepts it and numbers it. I usually take the "I voted" sticker as I leave. Been raining here solidly about 2 days so it could turn into "I boated."

Thank you!

I think the Democrat party should select another name that is more consitent with their behavior and attitudes. They advocate democracy and claim to support it so much that they've defined themselves by hijacking the name.

But alas, it is in name only, because the only way they support majority rule is if they are achieving the majority. If they fall short, they advocate undermining the 'democracy' they allegedly support. Comical to those of us who aren't party connected..

The way I remmeber it, it was MAGA republicans who could not accept the reseult of the 2020 election so much so tha tthey attact the capital, beat up cops and erected a scaffolding on which to hang their own VP. MAGAs sure spend a lot of time re-writing history, but some of us actually believe what we saw with our own eyes.
