Million dollar idea - An app that automatically disables your cell service and your phone camera when you walk into a restaurant. Call it "Enjoy Your Fucking Life".

We would always know who has the app because they would be standing outside.

Hahaha.. right?

I'm for that!

How about a never eat alone app. once you've ordered you start it up and it randomly selects or you can choose from other users, someone who is also eating alone. prop the phone up across the table and video chat during your meals.

that would be way cool!

With my luck I'd randomly get someone who chews with their mouth open.

@Duke that's where you get to rate your dining partner on the app for things like manners, interesting conversation, etc.

A sort of Tinder you can get your teeth into?

@Petter honestly I think a friendship app would be a better one than I dating app.

@hankster ...... in that friendship can turn into dating more easily than dating can turn into friendship.!

@Petter bingo.

Another issue being is, restaurants love it! People posting from their establishment, taking pictures of their food, checking in. It gives them huge exposure and free advertising. many good owners and managers have embraced this wheheartedly. One place that I frequent has a policy. 10% off your bill if you check in while eating there.

I read an article that says people spend longer at the restaurant because they are on their phone. Their point was that restaurants in general were making less because they weren't able to turn the tables as quickly.

Capital idea!

Or a Misfits show 😉

I have that. It's called"Leave it in the Car"

Great idea. It should be implemented in many other places as well.

They have that function already, you just hit the button on the side of the phone and it turns off.

No app needed.

I've had this thought myself. Great idea until someone sues the ass off the restaurant because their babysitter was trying to get a hold of them for an emergency.

The restaurant has a phone.

@FrayedBear However, is that going to delay getting that phone call? What if my sitter calls the restaurants and gets a busy signal? Or voice mail?

@HippieChick58 what if the carrier pigeon used in delivering alternative message is killed by falcon. What if baby sitter sets house on fire whilst drunk, what if responsible parents look after their own children rather than hedonistically enjoying themselves t expense of neglected children, what if the moon is made of green cheese?

@FrayedBear Considering the liability of the restaurant and our litigious happy society, I can't see restaurants wanting to take that chance. When I'm out to dinner with my adult kids the phones are put away and we are engaged with each other. When I'm the baby sitter I know my kids have their phones on. I don't need an app or a business to tell me how to behave as a responsible adult. What if the moon IS made of green cheese, I think we settled that when we brought moon rocks back to earth. Your angst/passion seems a bit over the top for the conversation, did I trigger something?

@HippieChick58 Only his sense of the ridiculous. Hub

@HippieChick58 What if your phone ringing unexpectedly gives another diner a heart attack or drives them into psychotic rage, production of their machine gun from under the table and ensuing carnage? I think everyone has grounds for suing the owner of the phone for having thoughtlessly disturbed the peace. The same goes for screaming babies who are more dangerous to the hearing than a jumbo jet taking off 20 metres away.

@FrayedBear You're making several assumptions, exaggerations, and it sounds like we don't dine in the same places. If my phone gives someone a heart attack they're a bit too close to me because mine is on vibrate in my pocket. I don't dine in places that other diners routinely carry machine guns. I've never heard a baby crying louder than a jumbo jet. You do seem to be tightly wound.

I like it! I'll invest. I can give you $20. 😀

Oh that's a good one. But then how would people take photos of their food to post on Facebook?
