I had to put down my 17 year old kitty on Christmas Eve. Now, the house is so quiet and empty. I find myself crying over the oddest things.

The sadness never truly goes away does it? For me it eventually seems to change into a feeling of bittersweetness; the happiness that the kitty gave me combined with the grief. Take care please.

Sorry for your loss, it can really be like losing a family member.

glennlab Level 9 Dec 27, 2018

So sorry. It is never easy to lose a friend.

Hugs. I did the same over Thanksgiving. I was also lucky to find 2 siblings at the humane society shelter. One of them reached out from her cage and caught me.

Good luck in recovering.

You are grieving your fur child's passing. It is normal, it is healthy. It will pass. You will remember him or her forever. You made a hard decision. be gentle with yourself.

HippieChick58 Level 9 Dec 27, 2018

Grief is understandable. They were part of the family. I'm sorry for your loss.

i am awfully sorry. all my cats are elderly and one is looking quite skeletal (at age 15 and a half). i've lost so many... and it never stops hurting but it does get easier to remember the good times. you have my total sympathy.

It is hard. Three years ago, the best kitty I ever had gave up one of her nine lives. It was painful. But cats come back - they do have nine lives!

????my sincerest condolences!

I'm so sorry. And I know she would be the one to comfort you when you were hurting. Give yourself permission to cry and grieve for as long as you need. Hugs.

Too young! Your grief is mine.

I know full well the heartbreak of losing a beloved animal. The best way to honor such a creature is to adopt another. Somewhere, there's another cat or four who desperately need you.

Oh, how traumatic for you! My deepest sympathy. From the picture, she looks like a well-loved and cared for companion. I have no words that can ease your loss, but I hope fond memories will bring you comfort.

So sorry to hear that! Sending purrs from Mattie.

I'm so, so sorry. The day before Thanksgiving,2012, I had to put one of my babies down. She had suffered a stroke and I felt it was better for her to go than to keep her around in pain. She now sits in a golden urn on a shelf in my bedroom alongside two of my other babies and my late husband's ashes. They are all our babies and it is a terrible loss. Think of the good times. All the purrs and head bumps will bring tears to your eyes but also a smile to your face.
