Good advice, however the individual human cravings and strange twists need special manipulation. Changes happen for a huge variety of circumstances, personal and environmental. There is no way to control all of it. Gentle steering is best for winter driving and relationships.

I heartedly agree. Unfortunately, it took years of mistakes to reach that point, but I finally did. One big issue, especially with younger couples, is that we change. If we didn't there would be something wrong with us. If the changes are not synchronous that can lead to problems. At our age most of the major changes are (or should be) in place. Problem is finding another available person with similar beliefs. Absolutely, friendship should come first and the relationship should advance with baby steps.
