Just joined so I thought I should contribute.

As a recent widower, young at that, I think its hard for most people around me to understand that you don't just lose your partner. When you are attached to a person and you build a life together it is a shared existence. With that person gone, that life is gone too and in the void that is left, there is the of loss of identity.

How do you rebuild. Its a daunting thought. But I feel I owe it to my wife and her memory to try.

But that sentiment does not make the journey any easier.

Anyways...just what's on my mind this morning.

I was amazed how heartbreaking the loss of my future and dreams was. NO one understood everything that cancer cost us. I will say, life has a way of refilling the emptiness, though. I pretty much do not plan, or try to force a particular future anymore, but relish each day of the journey as it happens. Yes, eventually, joy returned for me. The pleasure I now get from seemingly small things is surprising.
