As a newcomer, I find Agnostics to be elitist. I'm not able to participate in chats or view people because I'm always one level short of the minimum. I hope you find your conversations stimulating and fulfilling.

I disagree, I don't find Agnostics elitist in the least. It took me a while to get used to this system, but now I love it. I find this site a lot better than Facebook.

In fairness being attacked by a swarm of hornets is preferable to Facebook some days

@geist171 Fair point.

Facebook has so many quickly changing rules. I'm careful when I post there anymore, as someone will be "Offended",and complain without knowing why,and I wind up banned for a week or more.

@Mike1947 "Banned from Facebook" is a badge of honor, if the complainers are trumpsters.

@GinaMaria I have a friend on there, who's a fellow aircraft "Knuckle Buster",who get's jailed there many times a year, for what he believes are innocent postings.

@Mike1947 I honestly don't care if I find myself in Facebook jail. Everything I post reflects who I am and I will own it. I don't post images of open wounds, dead or dying beings, or gratuitous nudity. If I'm jailed for my opinions, so be it.

As an over the hill to lvl 8 fart, I find you newbie whippersnappers ungrateful and impatient. What with your rap music and your thrift store shopping, sniffing cat farts to get high. When I was growing up in the Q&A messageboard community we had to dial up to ask n answer questions, and as soon as you had earned enough points to get your customized artist rendered avatar, theyd shut down and sell themselves to Yahoo!. We coded our own messageboards in those days, in the SNOW, uphill both ways back when pluto was still a planet!

Im sure you know Im joking, honestly Im impressed that you even found the offlimits areas before time to access them. The early levels go so fast I don't think I even noticed them before they were offered to me. Doesnt take long, hold yer horses.

@Wurlitzer, you have me wiping tears of laughter! Sniffing cat farts, priceless ???

You're killing me. I'm dyin' here!

@Mystical everything other than that and the snow was strangely true. Write whatcha know ?‍♂️?

You forgot to add "get off my lawn waves fist"

Welcome to the asylum. Enjoy your stay.
Stick around, post, respond to other posts, participate, and increase your levels.
We ALL started at Level 1. Many of us became members before there were
even chatrooms to participate in. The site is still growing.
There is nothing "elitist" about the site.
Read the "About" information, click on the "My Points" portion of your account
page.

You say agnostics are elitist. Just wait to you get a hold of us Atheists.
We know we are better. No maybe about us.

I love it!! ?

Exactly, although us nasty agnostics have to keep the naughty atheists in their place! 😮

9

I find people who say elitists to be douchebags.

This is a easy system to post with like minded people.

8

I got to level 5 in about 4 days.

7

We all started exactly where you are, and then earned our stripes.

Instead of whining - participate - it's easy !

7

Ya gotta earn it, baby.

Hi, Doubter, and welcome to the website,

This website has a bit of a learning curve.

If you upload a recent, clear photo of yourself, answer the profile questions, and write your profile, listing your hobbies and interests, you'll earn website points, and members can get to know you.
Commenting on posts and writing your own earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

The website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many women prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find compatible partners.

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.

Before you get a chip on your shoulder read this: [agnostic.com]

The levels are there for a reason.

It will familairize you with the site - and you will gain an understanding of how we interact with each other here.

Most of us treat others with a modicum of respect. And expect the same in return.

6

I would rather have it the way it is. It keeps most of the trolls away because it forces them to make an effort.

6

?
I don't remember having that issue when I joined. I made a post and a few comments and seemed like I was moved up a level. Maybe instead of calling the site Elitist, have a little patience?

This is my second go-around, and I still don’t get the whole ‘level’ thing … does seem a little pretentious. But to generalize agnostics as elitist is much the same thing as generalizing any group—unfair, offensive and just plain wrong. Dig a little deeper, won’t you?

This is not a game. The point/level stuff is useful. It has to do with filtering.

Those less interested will post less, respond less. This is good. It reduces load/cost of servers.

And, more importantly, those who post more are providing increased clarity of those persons. This provides us with the types of information some of the rest of us are interested in knowing to decide if we might hope personal interaction will be, at least, worth a story.

@Jacar Wait, did I imply this is a game? Didn't mean to. Just don't get how or why the levels are where they are and why they are actually necessary, and now, what 'filtering' is being done. In any case, the tenor of my comment was focused on the 'elitist' assertion. I'm afraid you lost me with your last sentence.

@pnfullifidian "This is not a game" is not always an admonishment.

The agnostic gods know everything about us.

And have supreme clarity as to who belongs in what house.

And, I don't care. And it does not matter.

Everyone has had thoughts about this just after they walked in our door.

Ascribing "elitism" to the general population of this group is very religionist.

Slow down.

@Jacar Wait. Did I imply I was being admonished? Didn't mean to! 😉
Agnostic gods? Supreme clarity? You don't care and it doesn't matter? Now that sounds like a good line for the back of a jacket.
Thank you for supporting my main point regarding elitism, and I will try to slow down ... perhaps all of us should?

@pnfullifidian Elitism is in the lizard brain of the beholder.

5

So don't visit. Everyone went through the same process but you don't like it. Nothing will please everyone and it sounds like that's not you. Take care.

5

The points are a way to encourage engagement and commitment. If you add photos and fill out your profile you will rack up some points. The bright side is the website is really free. You just need to do a bit of social work 🙂

5

My fingers are bleeding too.

4

Remember, scum always rises to the top! Look at me! I'm already a 5, and I'm fucking awful!

4

Not. True at all, y ou are just looking for an excuse to bail. Hint: skip the time wasted working up your hurt feelings & just go.

4

To paraphrase and interpret, "As a newcomer, I FEEL OFFENDED. So, you guys are obviously too much for me. Not worth enough attention to learn anything."

Prolly a very young human. But, a pretty silly attitude.

Then again, might just be a troll. Which proves my implied point, just the same.

What got your boxers in a knot? Jump in, participate, you'll move up the points fast enough. Or are you too old to learn the ropes. Put your time in, you'll get there.

3

We all.went through the same process..... You will too

3

Keep commenting and posting, you'll get there.

2

Why is everyone being so mean? & why doesn't one of you explain about the levels & why this person can't view people--I never ran into that problem when I was new. & somehow I'm now 6.4 & have not noticed any changes.

Carin Level 8 July 20, 2018

You get what you deserve on this site, that's why it is so good! "Mean"? The poster decided to be a jerk, too bad so sad for him!

2

Your first strike was to apply a global label, those of us who have been through the grinder may not care for that.
I think you sound like a whining, petulant child who wants it all without contributing anything to the community. Kinda like Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels, Mr. "It's not fair".
Our conversations are stimulating, fulfilling, confrontive, argumentative, kind, supportive and at times funny.
If you don't like us then you are free to leave at no charge, hurry this offer won't last long, operators are standing by.
