How any woman can continue to embrace Christianity is beyond me. This concept is totally Biblical. If you are a Christian woman, you acknowledge and accept this. It cannot be any other way.

"Ladies, your husband is your Master and not your equal."

Years of forced obedience to survive has not disappeared. When generations of people are tortured and killed, the reaction is almost Stockholm syndrome-like. You are going to church to survive. So as not to be burned as a witch. So the lesson goes down to sons and daughters and generations to not question and survive. That instinct has not been forgotten so easily.

Thank you for saying this.

I’m just about to fly out to visit my son and was just having my last look at the newest posts on the site before I go....and saw this! Don’t have a lot of time to reply except to say to this fundamentalist throwback, “fuck away off you Neanderthal, and keep your Stone Age misogynist ideas to yourself!” Oh boy that feels better, now I’m in fine fettle to fly away!

LMFAO

Fuck that noise!

I'd have to hurt a motherfucker.

So, making this guy a fried bologna sandwich is out of the question?

@GuyKeith Was I unclear? LOLOLOLOL
😉

Oh, okay fine!!! But ONLY if I can hit him upside his stupid head with the hot pan.

@KKGator I think I love you,,,,,,,,,TWANG!!!!!,,OUCH!

@KKGator, @icolan Why would anyone want to "fry" bologna? I wouldn't want to step on bologna.

@PondartInc Fried bologna is awesome, especially if you use rag bologna. Fried bologna on white bread, with bacon, pimento cheese and mayonnaise.

@GuyKeith When I was little, my mom would make fried bologna and scrambled eggs.
I can't abide either anymore. I won't even eat hotdogs. Same thing as bologna, different shape.

Similarly I am both appalled and confused by so called "Gay Christians"
Women, at least not in general, are not commanded by their own religion to stone themselves to death, yet not only do we have gay Christians but gay priests, bishops and even arch bishops.
Go figure.

Gays are commanded to stone themselves to death? I've never heard that.

@UpsideDownAgain Christians are commanded to stone gays to death, so if you are a gay Christian you are supposed to follow god's command and stone yourself to death because you are an abomination in the eyes of the Lord.
Hence my initial comment about why do people such as women and homosexuals even want to be a part of this disgusting cult when it clearly hates them.

@LenHazell53 There is also a verse about plucking out your own eyes. MT 5:29. People have actually done this. One guy in Memphis did it. Reminds me of the movie, The Lobster

@GuyKeith Yes it also the basis of the truly horrifying climactic scene of the Ray Milland film "X:The man with the x ray eyes"

@LenHazell53 I agree with your point. I've just been hearing references lately about the Bible/Christianity condemning homosexual behavior and I'm not familiar with any substantial statement on the matter. The Bible hints at homosexuality but I don't remember it saying to stone gays.

@UpsideDownAgain
Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.

Romans 1:26– 32

For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error.

Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death,

I think that is pretty clear and are only two of many passages

@LenHazell53 Thanks for pointing those out. And here I thought I knew the Bible pretty well.

When I was indoctrinated, they told us the husbands should be the decision makers and heads of households. I passed that on to my now ex and left the decisions to him. That lasted about 3 hours if that long. He may have been a Major but I was the General and he didn't like and didn't want to know most parts of what I did.

Pastors say the dumbest shit.

2

I was once in a fundy church in Texas in which this man's wife had to walk a few steps behind him. I kid you not.

That guy is a moron and a retard... He probably didn't finish high school...

The ease and inclination to give allegiance to another is the human version of biological symbiosis and colony-formation. Cells like the mitochondria ancestor became organelles inside other cells for the sake of symbiosis. Individual cells became colonies with sets of cells taking on specialized functions, and these sets of cells became organs. Multicellular organism also organize into colonies where sets of individuals take on specialized functions for the sake of the whole.

People in general, not just women, have an inclination to give up their individuality for the sake of the group's welfare. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. We can condemn how people give up their own self-interest for the group or for a leader. However, understanding that this behavior has a biological underpinning provides insight into the dynamics and functionality of this process. Seeing this in a scientific light may also help to diffuse the emotions that color our perception of these processes.

It may well be important, even critical, to understand colony-forming behaviors in order to reign in the untoward manipulation of religions, personality cults and political parties.

Have you been smoking a bud again? That post takes concentration!!

Thank you. I consider the belief that women are subject to men to be highly detrimental to all involved but I can't disregard the strong tendency that I see towards that behavior all across the world. In feminism I still see elements of this. I think it would be helpful to understand why we do this and see if there are more productive answers. No matter how much you talk about it, you aren't going to change the fact that men are generally stronger than women and more inclined towards violence and so you're always going to have women at a disadvantage to men. Will we truly ever be able to overcome that?

Excellent post. I’ve always considered a similar idea, but haven’t got to the point of allegorising with cells. Thank you

I have been asking this question my whole life. Never could work out why it feels good to have someone lord and master over you.

2

not all christians believe this. i know people who self-identify as christian and do not buy into any of that crap. evangelicals buy it; some others buy it; it's written in; not everything written in is accepted by everyone who finds some value in his or her religion. those who do just make me shake my head. you can't argue with such people. they're brainwashed.

g

I understand this, but the 64K$ question is if they don't buy into ALL of the Bible, then why buy into John 3:16? Or anything else?

@GuyKeith who says they do? if they self-identify as christian, but take things figuratively, who are we to relabel them or insist they really believe in something literally? i don't generalize about christians. i generalize about born-agains, evangelicals, etc.

Some people including some men like the idea of life without responsibility or thinking.

I have a penchant for dancing with a man that is a strong lead. Everyone needs a break now and then but some people just don't like to lead or think for that matter.

2

I don't get it. I think it's bullshit. I know women who think this is the way it should be; just listening to them agree with this mind set seems a form of insanity.

Oh how dearly I'd love and enjoy wiping that smug grin off of his face by slapping him around his arrogant mug repeatedly with a wet and rotten fish.

The 3 main Abrahamic Religions and all of their 'off-shoots' ARE so patently obviously Misogynistic that even a blind person could NOT fail to see it.
They ARE ALL male dominance orientated and that is why, imho, human society is as screwed up is it today.

You are so biased. What about shitty Hinduism? Hindus made their women burn alive on dead husband's pyres. If they ran away, they broke their limbs and put them back there. Often they beat drums around the pyres so other people would not hear their screams. Sometimes kindly they gave heavy opium to them. Most women were just girls of 8 to 13 years old when their old husband's dropped dead. Look up the Hindu tradition of SATI.

@St-Sinner And your comment was uncalled for. Just because he did not mention another religion does not mean that he dismisses it. His statement about those religions are spot on.

@GuyKeith I was being sarcastic.

Thanks for all the responses. This mindset is just another example of "one size fits all" Christian philosophy that can be irresponsible and damaging, not to mention denigrating to women. Not all people are created equal. I can think of one close family member who was a terrible manager of money. I told him he needed to marry an accountant. She wasn't a CPA, but was damn near close and she handles all the finances, and they are in great shape. This is just one example.

No-one is 'equal' to the person next to them, equality is merely a concept BUT in the sense of social order, etc, BOTH genders deserve and SHOULD be treated EXACTLY the same even though there are innumerable differences between them.

1

Did anyone else read the comments on that article? 90% of them are people talking about how this is "truth" except 2 people who are very much opposed and random people arguing over interpretations.

1

People can certainly be Christian and not view a husband as a mater of his wife. Let’s be fair. Most Christians do not have that view.

I am laughing . I wish my father was alive to read this 😂😂😂
