To this community:

I have been taking needed breaks from this site...

Ironically, I am finding more open minded people in general on FB which is rather unusual if not perhaps bizarre, yet am seeing there is seemingly a broader based diverse community there, at least at this moment in time and with the segment of the population I am engaging with and able to reach out to for exchanges regarding specific news events...

FB is not a fair comparison, and at the same time, not being a social network junkie, it is the only comparison I have.

Rather than getting more frustrated by withholding my beliefs on extremely touchy subject (on here), and inflammatory issues surrounding the ongoing DOCTRINE of the M$M narrative of this Covid 19 virus, I am going to take yet another break.

This is totally my problem... Am not seeking to blame anybody. I sometimes feel things quite deeply and need a time out. How much time out? I don't know as it seems each time I come back to Agnostics it is pretty much the same as the M$M narrative... Oddly enough. I suppose--> this is as a surprise to me.

Having been the brunt of vicious Ad hominem attacks previously and possibly, now again in near future for sharing what was/is IMO perfectly legitimate if not reasonable or rightful views, I have no time, whatsoever for any more of this at the moment.
Life is too good and much too important.

TTY whenever... Be well. Most Sincerely, LGR.

I'm more different than you, these people are verbally abusive to the extreme. Sometimes you need to step away from abusive personalities and surround yourself with positive people.

Where are these positive people?

@Rich77 In your case you might want to take a look at how you are provoking others.

There are plenty of nice people here - however if you poke at people they WILL poke back.
Its human nature.

There is intelligent debate and there is attacks that serve to denigrate. Engage the first for the benefit of all and minimize your time with the second. Those who cannot rationally engage have issues that cannot be resolved here.

Still no head?

@Mooolah Hey you're a guinea pig... He's headless - I'm a cat.... these things happen.

Sorry to hear that. Now you know why I mostly lurk. The “discussions” are fun Only when I’m a dispassionate observer.

Find some groups. There are less fights in groups because they are moderated.

The forums - not so much. Not until there is a flame war that gets reported to administration.

Just my advice.

I come here because I feel a connection to a group that's difficult to find In the physical and typical social media world. Not looking for a broad based diverse community here.

3

I had always believed that agnostics, atheists, and humanists were generally rational thinkers. Yet I see a lot of intolerance and groupthink here.
I find that puzzling. Perhaps the anonymous keyboard brings out the worst in many people. You express an opinion here that is not in line with the groups sensibilities at your peril. I sympathize with you.

I can see why you may feel this way but you should not care what strangers have to say to you. These people are not your friends .I have been on the receiving end of insults disgusting language etc just for stating my opinion ,but I don’t give a shit .

Most of the fanatics on this site make me appreciate my religious friends who are less fanatical about their religion that these obsessed members are about their atheism, etc.

I think that there is a difference between "open-minded" and "like-minded." We often confuse the two.

I understand needing to take a break. I did.

I understand being disappointed by the disparity between the caliber of people and posts and the expectations I had for a group primarily comprised of atheists and agnostics. For fuck's sake, I just read written slam poetry about god and energy.

Like everyone else I have no idea what the fuck M$M is.

But as for legitimate views regarding Covid, there is only one. There is the view that uses the best available scientific data to determine what is happening and what to do about it, and then there are illegitimate views that use feelings or other nonsensical methods. Not sure what side you're on, but if you're on the side of science, I hope you stick with it and ignore the idiots.

I am sorry that you get this affected by being in this group not only once, but twice causing you to take a break. You are probably too sensitive or you have too high expectations of social media and particularly of human beings. I myself feel a lot of discomfort with attitudes and reactions of so many people in today's world but I know that is the way mankind is. But when I get into Agnostic I do it to feel good and relax, every now and then I have to block someone too prone to conflict, but in general I feel good. Getting into Facebook or Agnostic is like going out in the real world, you encounter all kind of people. But I'm all for your decision, if you feel you need it, it will be good for you.

Ok I must ask what is

M$M narrative of this Covid 19 virus?

Searching just lead to a loss of time as I read a wiki entry on M&M's which I like way tooo much.

So what is the narative?

thanks

Dare I say? M$M = Main Stream Media?

M$M narrative of this Covid 19 virus?

Stay safe. I'm on FB with the same name as here and only there as a political activist. What I find there is everything getting worse, but then you have to understand that everyone has a "personal feed." This is like getting up daily and looking into your mirror - "mirror, mirror on the wall."

I understand some of what you say. I also am a very private person. Of recent concern to me in our "new world" created by COVID-19 is the Trumpian idea that if schools and colleges continue to educate online people who are students here with a visa to study can soon be sent back to their own countries. I guess this does away with ideas of us being a "nation of immigrants." It sounds 100% Stephen Miller mixed with the Twilight Zone.

1

M$M? Not sure what that means anyhow, be well stay safe. Naa nuu Naa nuu 😁

So...why are you posting these current messages? Would we all notice or mourn your absence? You can't just skedaddle & hope your leaving will help us improve, if improvement is needed by (some of) us. Anyhoo, go in peace.

2

Been nice knowing you, bye.

typical Fernapple response. 😀

People post things online that they never would say face to face. I was called "shit for brains"and a "moron" recently by someone who didn't agree with my viewpoint. In my opinion when someone gets abusive they have lost the argument.
Would the fact that you feel compelled to tell everyone that you are leaving maybe mean that you take yourself a wee bit too seriously ?

4

Ah...the ''I'm leaving and you can't stop" me thing....

you're right. Life is too good and much too important. Go where you're happy. Enjoy it there.

You are really visiting some dark corners of Agnostic then...

Sorry that you feel vilified, however, why do you feel it being so important being on this site at all. I would not bother with any social media or anybody who was nasty to me. Wishing you peace.
