This hadith is a complete package for women:-

  1. Majority of women are in hellfire
  2. Women are deficient in intelligence
  3. Witness of a one man is equal to the evidence of two women
  4. Women are "impure" during their periods

Islam definitely treats men and women equally LOL.

Well not so much different to the so called christian evangelical churches in the US, or Jewish Orthodox either.

Or the Hindus! Or most religions if it comes right down to it!

@Marionville One of the common factors of ancient religions that have been completely (or almost completely) extirpated is that they held it as a religious tenet that men and women are of equal worth in the eyes of their god(s).
A dangerous heresy that required extreme sanctioning, lest such a dangerous idea become popular

@LenHazell53 Men didn’t like it so they invented newer religions that gave all the powers to themselves.

Misogyny is a virtue in most religions.

The three Abrahamic religions do the same with women. The Catholic church would not let women in church without a veil for almost 2000 years until the 60's because man was His favorite son. In Judaism Woman could not approach the Western Wall of Jerusalem to pray.

Also, Eve offered Adam the Apple which he partook of. That's when God got pissed off. Women were to blame for the Fall.

@Aristippus On a technical point, the bible DOES NOT SAY which fruit the tree of knowledge bore. In some cultures they think it was a banana.

What got to me at Vacation Bible School (VBS) was it was the tree of knowledge. The moral of not eating its fruit was leave knowledge alone. We'un's want you'un's to be dumb little shits so we'un enrolled you in SCHOOL. So if you want ruin a good thing, pay attention to what we're telling you.

"Does this add up?" I asked.

The VBS teachers crossed their arms and glared at me for asking.

@WonderWartHog99 Quite so. It's all part of dumbing down. Orwell warned us of this when he wrote 1984. It was once a serious crime to teach a slave to read. So the Bible tells us knowledge is the pathway to sin.

Interestingly, St. Augustine tells us we should never question what we're told be people in authority. Just accept the truth and obey. Carl Sagan blames him for bringing on the Dark Ages. He was the murderer of human curiosity.

Misogyny wrapped in religion.

5

All the ibrahimic religions are demeaning to women.

Not just abrahamic religions. Hinduism does not allow women to enter temples during the times of periods. Once, I forced my mom to come with me (when I was a believer) during her periods. She felt really guilty afterwards.

The deficiency is in those who actually believe this nonsense, and not in “woman”.

Written by men who feel threatened by women, in order to keep any control completely out of women’s hands and firmly in their own. That this primitive and unscientific Hadith (edict) still prevails In the 21st century, despite all the intervening centuries of human advancement and knowledge, speaks volumes to the blanket indoctrination which Muslims experience from birth. Other religions, which employ the same techniques, are are really not much better, in as far as misogyny and patriarchy are concerned.

4

Strange that so many Evangelicals believe this same thing. I once knew one who had his wife walk behind him so he could be the big cheese.

Ah yes, his OWN little ego boost for a very, very small and insignificant man imo.

Funny, when my late partner had had enough of her husband (after 25 years) she separated. Then she remembered this was no longer Iran so she divorced him. He wasn't content with a US divorce and wanted a legal Iranian one and went to an Iranian lawyer. She agreed to this (she had nothing to gain or lose) but had to bring a witness so she brought her best friend (also an Iranian woman). When they walked into the office the ex and lawyer said no it has to be a male witness. She said fine, take it or leave it because I won't play silly Iranian games and threatened to walk out. She had them by their 'short hairs' and they gave in.

Hopefully, the youngsters in Iran are turning away from Islam. There are Lots of ex Muslims out there.

@AravindAjith But, under the present circumstances with the virus and the sanctions it is harder to cross certain lines.

@JackPedigo sorry, but what do you mean?

@AravindAjith What I said. It's more difficult to question the norms especially religion.

4

The first step in controlling a society is to dehumanize and oppress women.

4

I do curse frequently. Damn, they got me with that one.

Like.....”f*** off you mentally retarded religious weirdo” ?

@Marionville Among many, many others 🙂

3

There are both pentacostal and evalgelical Christians who believe the same things.

3

Some haddiths are more respected than others. Without doing some research, I can't judge whether or not this is a respected one. I'm not a fan of ANY Abrahanic religion, as they are ALL the same in their overall lack of respect for women.

I did a little search. This is one of the two haddiths most respected by the Sunni Muslims.

3

The religion of love and peace. Uh, huh! Sounds a lot like Orthodox Judaism, doesn't it? Don't forget that women are unclean until they've had their ritual bath....

Is that sarsour woman aware of this?

@AravindAjith ???

@LucyLoohoo Linda sarsour. The person who was shouting about the sharia law day and night, saying how beautiful it is. She even said Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Brigitte Gabriel does not deserve to be women. Such a horrible person. Still, the dems are championing her!!!!

@AravindAjith Thanks...I confused myself. I don't think it's responsible to say ''the dems are championing her." You'd need a big majority to make that true and it's just not.

@LucyLoohoo sorry, but it was sickening to see her saying horrible things like that in the United States.

@AravindAjith Yes...but it was HER opinion....not ''the dems.'' We all need to watch our speech when we're angry.

How're things in India? I've spent some time there and have worried (A LOT) about some of the more crowded areas there. Mumbai....Kolkata...

@LucyLoohoo I don't know. I live in South India. It is quite rainy in here. Everything is peaceful. Plus, I wasn't trying to insult anyone or any country. Sorry, if you felt like that.

@AravindAjith Don't worry...I was giving you some friendly help, that's all.

@LucyLoohoo Thank you. ❤❤

Whoa... this "allahs messenger" guy is eerily close to a LOT of men in the anti-feminist, alt-right, MGTOW, Incel, anti reproductive rights, conservative religious, and Fox News groups and pretty much the same rhetoric I've seen from them in the past 10 years.

Take for example the "majority of women dwell in Hellfire" claims. It's saying "women are evil or trouble" which is basically the party slogan of the MGTOW or Incel. And there are definitely direct text and thinking of this type in religious thought, altright and antifeminists.

The "women are crude or deficient" claims come more from the anti-feminist, alt-right camps but also has overlap in MGTOW and Incel groups as the reasons why they won't or can't be with women. I especially saw this during gamer-gate, and during the 2016 election. The "nasty women" phrase certainly is an example of the "crudeness".

The #MeToo movement might as well be a response to the modern American "evidence vs witness" bias, which is unfortunately quite ubiquitous and part of general American culture and not restricted to the groups, as we know now.

The "menses as bad" is basically the modern version of blaming/punishing a woman for her body, and sadly in not limited to the small anti reproductive rights, or religious groups but is found in the military or sports or business, or really a lot of American culture...or culture worldwide in general.

2

Misogyny and control, two of the means of religion to seek to dominate women. Others have already noted they are not unique to Islam.

If Rick Santorum had become president we women would all be wearing burqas. Hey, I wonder how well they stop the spread of covid?

@MyTVC15 That antediluvian idiot is equivalent to the Taliban.

@skeptic70 exactly!

1

If it is not the women, it is the Russians, or the devil! Assholes always need a scapegoat.

1

Good to see some sense among all the nonsense in the Bible.

1

That all sounds quite boring when reading fiction. Maybe try Alice in wonderland.

1

It’s a pity there can be no outrage from within and reformation thus sparked. It’s happened elsewhere... maybe one day.

Mvtt Level 7 July 18, 2020

Muslims will call you Islamophobs if you criticise their faith.

@AravindAjith is that any worse than being called a goddamn atheist for criticising Christianity?

Yes it is

@prometheus It is when fellow atheists join in on it.

@AravindAjith A truly ''devout'' Islamist can ''kill the infidel'' wherever he finds you. (Because there's a verse which gives him permission.)

@LucyLoohoo Yes I have heard of it. Is that in the Qur'an or in the hadiths?

@TaylorWalston I see your point. IMO atheists who actively criticise other religions are leaning toward anti-theism anyway and if that is your stance I think having someone label you an Islamaphobe goes with the territory. I'm surprised we don't get called Christiaphobe or Deiaphobes. Really if calling you a name is all the have it's a pretty weak ad hominem argument.

Criticizing from within can get some killed. Apostasy is illegal and punishable in Pakistan for instance. In atheist groups in facebook, south asians or middle easterners from Muslim majority nations had fake accounts to be able to talk to other atheists. Why would you expect them to martyr themselves in the name of atheism/non belief the way religious have done in the past? Unfair

@demifeministgal hence the pity. I feel bad for them, it seems an oppressive, psychologically twisted situation. The lack of equality, as demonstrated in the words from this post, is genuinely sad to witness.

I find it amazing how many "non-believers" support this ultimate fascism.... The worst of all religions... Astounding.

Thinking of how strong the fear in men must be, that they would come up with these beliefs........and how far they will go to hold on to that power....really surprising that women have put up with it for so long.

0

The thing about impurity of women during menses is not limited to Muslims. It also is apparent in orthodox jews and in Hindus. Thus, I say all the abrahamic religions plus hinduism are sexist/misogynistic and no good for women.

0

This speaks from a religion, an man made idea and is not proof of human life on earth for women or men.

0

To stay in power and hold dominion religions are nothing but a male dominated cult of death as your reward for anything you do that does not please them!!!

0

They sure do, hust have to open your eyes and see how equal they are treated.
