KAMALA HARRIS is Joe Biden's pick for his Vice President.
So predictably, here comes more racist bullshit from our bullshitter-in-chief. It isn't even original. His same tired birtherism, where he claims "many people are saying..." While he denies personal responsibility for peddling it.
Trump promotes another birther lie, this time about Kamala Harris
Maybe he will piss off even more people.
we can only hope.
Meh. Tulsi destroyed her in the debates. She is a tough-on-crime police stater who actively and mercilessly jailed thousands of black and brown people for minor drug offenses. Plus, she is an insufferable, identity politics-driven cunt.
I agree Tulsi(my least favorite of the Dems, except Marianne W.) did knock Kamala off track big time. As for identity politics, every single pick Biden was considering was a dose of identity politics, not only Harris. They were all women, so it was a given. In fact presidential nominees time after time have sought to "balance the ticket." It is ALL identity politics to some extent. But sometimes identity politics matters. Your apparent comfort at calling the veep pick a "cunt" illustrates that need quite nicely.
As long as various demographics continue to face entrenched systemic discrimination, identity politics will have at least some compelling argument for a seat at the table. It is valid. Railing against identity politics is like saying "I don't see color." It sounds fine to White people, maybe, but not to those who are still facing discrimination on a frequently recurring basis. If you don't take concerted steps to change power structure, inequities between demographics will persist and even deepen.
@MikeInBatonRouge I am sorry but what kind of discrimination? There is no law that specifically targets minorities. What power structure? There will always be power structures as long as governments exist. Making your candidacy based around your genitalia, who you fuck, skin color, etc. is very basic bitch shallowness that detracts from actually campaigning on a coherent platform or issues.
@Heavykevy1985 in an ideal world, you gave a valid point. Too bad our world isn't even close to ideal.
Discrimination is many things, not merely indivual behaviors "on the street." The hardest to deal with are structural at societal level.
WWW.HOWIEHAWKINS.US Angela Walker the electable human Vice President
@Heavykevy1985 there are structural inequalities in childcare, education, housing, finance, public accommodation, criminal law, civil law--and that is in execution of the law, not the letter of the law. even in the nuts and bolts of voting. There are more examples than my White cis male self is personally aware of, but as a counselor with a sociology background, I have been made aware of quite a lot of examples. I hear many personal accounts, and these are consistant with social issues investigative reports I have heard from different media sources and social science articles.
@MikeInBatonRouge I am sorry but you are being vague. Just because you have been told that by default of being white that you are privileged, does not make it true. How in voting? What structures?
@Heavykevy1985 wow. Just wow. I am contemplating whether I have the patience or motivation to break it down completely for someone who does not seem to want to see it. I am thinking no. But of course I and you have White privilege, and male privilege. It does not mean we are privileged in every way---money, connections, etc. I have certainly had to scramble in life. But it DOES mean we benefit from being given some opportunities and avoiding some mistreatments just because we are not a racial minority or female. There is quite literally tons of sociological material written on the subject. You will be on the road to being a more thoughtful person if you educate yourself on the subject instead of just resorting to calling women "cunts."
@Heavykevy1985 ...but here is an article I think applies to you in a sense. It is satire. The author is voicing an array of general criticisms that get thrown about by people who insist they have no bias, while in reality they are swimming in it.
[mcsweeneys.net]?
@MikeInBatonRouge sociology, a heavily biased field. Again, you have not demonstrated on why being or male gives you privilege. For example, if people are so privileged, why did Shaun King, Rachel Dolezal, or Elizabeth Warren lie about not being ? As a matter of fact, affirmative action gives preferential treatment in hiring and admissions towards black and brown people. Being has not given me any privilege. I have earned everything in my life.
@Heavykevy1985 you don't see how men have privilege women lack?!? Only all of history has illustrated that fact. You must not want to see it, or for that matter your White privilege, so it is pointless for me to spend more time trying, while you have proverbial cotton in your ears. I did, btw, list several obvious categories. I am done here.
@MikeInBatonRouge no you did not. All you did is trying together a buzzword salad. You said a lot and said nothing at the same time. Other than being born with a penis and other biomorphic traits, I see no more privilege at being a man or being white.
@Heavykevy1985 I am not as patient as this first guy here, Tom R., But his talk is kinda a glimpse of why we won't change each other's minds. If you care, here are just a few sources of some food for thought on privilege and intersectionality.
@MikeInBatonRouge Intersectionality is a dung heap ideology developed by Kimberle Crenshaw. In theory, it is individualistic but in practice, it seeks to group people based on arbitrary characteristics like race and gender. Please tell a home white guy that his “white privilege” will be a comfort to him.
@Heavykevy1985 you are just wrong and apparently will continue to be so the rest of your life. You dismiss the entire field of sociology as subjective and therefore worthless. But it is sheer ignorance to believe that everything of worth in the world is contained within the hard sciences. It can't be. Even a hard sciences ambassador like Neil DeGrasse Tyson gets that. VALUES are also subjective. That does not make them meaninlgess.
Intersectionality is a pretty straight-forward idea. The fact the particular label was coined in no way makes the idea fake.
Hopeless willful ignorance. Thanks for representing White male status so shamefully.
She was the most predicted choice, ...and the best. Hope still lives. She will not be a soft target as some would have, and she is a tough prosecutor who has already used those skills to good effect in the campaign. I look forward to her taking down that homophobic dominionist brown-noser snake, Pence!
Does Joe remember making that decision?
I doubt it .This nut case can not even distinguish his wife from his sister as depicted recently.lol
So I guess they both made up later or Harris was just posturing or lying back in the debate months ago when she practically called Biden a racist to his face over his opposition to busing? Both her and Joe disgust me, everything with them is theater and false advertising. Biden said he would probably pick a black woman and so he did. Just more bullshit identity poliitics like we have been getting from the Dem party for decades, when what we need instead is honest class warfare against the rich and corporations, affordable healthcare for all as a right, a Green New Deal, an end to permanent wars for empire, and cancellation of trade deals and treaties that only benefit multinational corporations. But we will never get these when most Americans settle for identity politics and culture war issues as being adequate reasons to vote Dem over Repub instead of voting third party.
She is not even of full black heritage .Her mother is Indian.
She is also part Asian -doesn't matter.
Every presidential candidate ever had engaged in attack tactics in primaries. Just look at the shit Trumps opponents now sychophants said about him. In the end it doesn't matter so long as you get the job done.
@richiegtt I guess he actually said "woman of color", rather than black, so she qualifies. Doesn't really matter, because, like I said, identity politics is really more of a distraction to focus the voters away from whether politicians are representing and carrying out the will of the common people on the issues I mentioned above.
@richiegtt And your point???
"There was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bused to school every day. And then she sold out her own values in pursuit of power to run with an addled old corporate racist. That little girl was me," Kamala Harris said.
@WilliamCharles Beautiful and well done, sir. She is such a fraud, tho I did enjoy her debate takedown of Biden on his racist opposition to busing so many months ago. He almost looked like he was going to cry and I laughed out loud...
@richiegtt I am curious about why you're doing a race check. Is she not American???
@TimeOutForMe Yes Kamala Harris has an Indian father and African American mother. USA has always been about white xians black slaves red natives to be murdered, yellow asians to do dangerous jobs on the west coast and brown stoop labor to work factory farms and change hotel bedclothes
@Larry68Feminist I think it's Indian mother and Jamaican father. ...but first she's American. That's my point. I've picked up that there's soooo many racist Atheists on here and sometimes it's just tooooooo obvious. That's all really.
@TimeOutForMe racists act out in many ways for different reasons ..... some Atheist bad boys here are TrumpOLINIbots ..... SOME Atheists are good civil liberties democrats knowing how phony and racist Kamala Harris is she is an enemy of the ACLU.... ..... I am a Green Atheist giving credit where credit is due to BernieCrats, Teamsters, Autoworkers, Machinists, CWA, teachers, postal workers all have their new liberals and their old line racist grandparents.... Longshoremen are the oldest union in USA since 1965 free blacks of Charleston east coast and west coast .... the history of USA labor is inseparable from slavery, racism, denocrats, republicans and reformers at all levels
@Healthydoc70 The point is she refers to herself as either black or Indian depending what she thinks is beneficial to her at the time .
@tiredofthis1 Not surprising. Like Joe, she has no integrity..
HOORAY! Kamala Harris is my top pick for Vice President.
She is strong, confident, brilliant, articulate, thoughtful and charismatic.
Black is the new orange, jn a few years time, barring civil war when Trump is removed from office by US Marshals which is definitely on the cards IMO.
I'm with you Kathleen. She was my choice. Only bummer for me is that she is married. I had hopes. When I watched the Kavanaugh hearings I was taken with her and thought, who is this woman? I can't imagine Trump or Pence lasting 10 seconds in a debate with her. She actually is educated and has a brain, sorely lacking in the two.
Thank You LiterateHiker, so many posts have focuses around why she wasn't such a bad choice instead of YAY! we have a winner. Canada wants a winner down there and by winner we mean someone who isn't an asshat in a clown suit like the ones we have had to deal with for the past four years, feels like 8.
The name calling started already, trolls even here, nobody is more a sellout than the orange turd, aside from being a corrupt con man, a traitor, a racist and a xenophobe. So I will gladly vote for Biden and Harris, with zero hesitation because another 4 years of the orange turd will destroy our country as we know it. Fuck trump and his ilk of republitard ass kissing enablers!
A true race to the bottom. No defense for her.
The old lesser of two evils argument.
Love your posts. We disagree here, obviously.
@SCal No defense for your opinion.
The truth requires no defense.
@creative5
Doing everything except praising how this pick helps anyone but your chosen party.
Attack me. Attack trump. Blame it on the rain. Blame it on the stars.
But again, no positives to speak of about the pick.
@SCal it's the old lesser of two evils argument. Yes, it definitely is, and it usually is when you have only 2 options and we must choose between those two. The choice is truly obvious. Bitching about it or trying to demean and besmirch the obvious choice we have is a losing proposition and it only benefits the one in the mirror because I DON'T LIKE HIM OR HER OR BOTH. I know who I will vote for, to me it is a clear and obvious choice, and it is useless to continue smearing and demeaning the only choice we have to save our democracy just because I originally wanted someone else. One thing is for sure, elections are not about what's good for me. Elections are about what's good for the many.
Haaahaha... that's rich.. "The name calling started already"..... And the rest of your post is nothing but name calling... Project much?
@Captain_Feelgood the difference, if you can't tell, is Trump is all those things I said about the turd because they are proven and true, he is a racist, he is a xenophobe, he is a corrupt con man, and he is a traitor, so is it name calling when you say the obviously true? Whereas Kamala Harris is being called all sort of names that are not true, some people posted that she "slept her way to the top" and thst shr was a "racist on her own kind." Those labels are not true and are clearly name calling someone who is smarter and brighter than the corrupt con man and putin cocksucker that we have in the WH.
A sell out, who is on record as selling out people of color to advance her career.
A perfect, typical, authoritarian candidate.
"People of color" will stand behind her over a candidate that is literally selling out the country.
Any lawyer, whether prosecutor or defender, has a Sworn Duty to work as hard as they can for their client, be it a defendantt or the state that pays them. No moral judgements are permitted, nor desirable. Period.
Spoken like a true boot-licking state-theist.
"Daddy govt loves you" - Orwell 1984
There is no greater sell out than the orange fascist and his sycophant McConnell.
A true race to the bottom.
Noone even attempts to defend her, her actions or her track record.
The old lesser of two evils argument.
You say it's better. It's actually a lateral move, at best.
@AnneWimsey Said every money mongering attourney ever.... Nobody ever mandated that attourneys have to take every case put in front of them... I know several that turn down cases all the time.. Now, of course state appointed deffense ones have to take the case, but they don't have to work very hard for them.
@Unity What.... orange isn't a color to you?? You are SOOOO RACCISSST!!!
@Captain_Feelgood if you work for the public, you actaully don't get a choice. Btw heres an article i bet youd enjoy [slate.com]
@SCAL She has no principles due to the fact she believed Tara Reid and two other woman in regards to their sexual misconduct allegations against Biden ,and yet she would be vice president for a man she evidently has no respect for.
Kamala Harris is more intelligent than both men on the opposite ticket.
Trump supporters will not speak the facts that he didn't win the first popular vote, or will they acknowledge that he left an empty shell standing in the place of his bankrupt business in Atlantic city.
@OldMetalHead Could be. Lol.
@OldMetalHead maybe, but Biden, unlike an OrangeIdiot I could mention, will not have a hussy fit about it!
@TheMiddleWay Good point
