Why are we here?

I won't pollute the answers with my opinion, I'd just like to hear what others believe.

I'm kinda just wondering since this site seems to have a large spectrum of beliefs.

Side note: yes, I know babies come from vaginas.

"We" are here because if it were only "Me" I might get lonely having only the birds, beasts, and fishes to converse with. Not that they do not make fine and enjoyable companions, but their somewhat rudimentary vocabularies render them rather poor conversationalists in matters of physics and philosophy which interest me. Also, I have come to appreciate and find pleasure in the musical and artistic creations of my fellow human beings, so I am content to share a bit of my vast Universe with them.

That would be a philosophical or theologian question. “Why are we here?” Is not an objective question. How do you quantify it? I don’t see that there is no “why” or deeper “meaning” to life. Life is what you make it, you make your own meaning to your individual life. Or maybe as a famous Poet put it: “O Me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; Of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities fill’d with the foolish; Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?) Of eyes that vainly crave the light—of the objects mean—of the struggle ever renew’d; Of the poor results of all—of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me; Of the empty and useless years of the rest—with the rest me intertwined; The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here—that life exists, and identity; That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse.” Walt Whitman

The purpose of life is to beget more life.

Life goes against the probabilistic direction of increasing entropy in the cosmos. Information is the mathematical negative of entropy(Shannon). Genetic code is the information that defines an organism. Mixing that information begets baby organisms(more life)

Our mind/spirit/emotion/psychology is our conscious life which contains orders of magnitude more information than our genetic code. Mixing our consciousness through conversation/bonding/love mixes the information in our consciousnesses and begets consciousness babies e.g.social constructs, languages, traditions, memes, cultures, tribal knowledge, etc.

And what are you doing over there? Hey you! Get away from that...

Because. Duh. 😛

We're here because we're here because we're here.

Because amino acids combined into complex proteins.

I believe we are here to make a difference. Every little effort helps.

because consciousness needed a host.

We are here I believe, because Aliens planted us here. I believe Aliens were our beginning rather than the biblical god stories.

I went pretty deep down the alien origins path for a while. I had nearly turned the ancient aliens and ancient civilizations series into a religion.

This kind of went against all my reasoning, but the presentation was pretty convincing.

I ran across a YouTube video Ancient Aliens debunked. I was pissed by the time the video was done. I just couldn’t figure out if I was pissed at the deceptions or my own level of gullibility.

I believe in the probability that it is unlikely that earth is the only single occurrence of life of some kind. But understanding the intellectual and technological level a species would have to achieve to acquire inter stellar, or galactic travel leaves The probability low that another species has ever been here.

Science has managed to show enough laboratory evidence to show that life as we know it not only could have self assimilated, but had nothing to stop it from happening.

The proteins were there, they only needed the right conditions. Life seems to be the single most unique thing in our visible universe, but far from impossible.

@Foggy are you in Daredevil?

@Foggy but I agree... Just had to ask lol

@Joenobody not sure what dare devil is, so I’ll say no. ?

@Foggy it's a comic book character... His best friend is fondly called foggy

@Joenobody I have to admit that the idea that I’m actually a character in a comic book would answer a lot of questions ???

1

We are here to do our own small part in helping the human race to answer the question you just asked.

2

The same reason there are billions of other planets and stars populating the universe: science.

3

Whatever reason it takes I guess.
.
To me this is asking why does grass grow.

Actually we know grass grows ??

Bingo.

Here to use my brain, talk to people with common interests and possibly meet a man for a long term relationship. Traveled and spent time with fellow member resulting in friendship.

We’re here because the laws of physics demanded it.

I’d like to think that in a few billion years humanity might observe our dyeing sun from a safe distance.

The same physics that brought planet earth, and the life phenomenon it harbors, will eventually take it out of existence.

Personally, I think we're here to create. It doesn't matter if it's art or carpentry or or technology. Once your basic needs are met, adding to the world is all we've got.

Curiosity.

We are here because we were born. The sad thing is that so many think it must be much more complicated so they start making things up. This way they will present themselves as the person with all the answers when you talk to them.

I read the question: "Why are you on this site if you believe in magic?"

To answer your actual question: Life has no inherent purpose. "Purpose" is a human being thing - exclusively. The universe is not a human being, existence is not a human being. They do just fine with no purpose, and they will do just fine without us.

I would like to know the answer.

I can respect the question "how." But "why" assumes a cosmic will and intent that I have seen no clear evidence for, so it is purely speculative. Here are some other "why" questions we could waste our time asking:
Why do some live a day and others a hundred years? Why is there horrendous suffering? Why do terribly cruel and selfish people sometimes seem to be rewarded?
