1of5 replies on Mar 27, 2019:
Have no idea when it happened. I was on agnostic.com awhile ago, found the love of my life yada yada yada and quit. Signed up for humanists.com and found it was the same site, uses the same database, but for some reason tries to be separate without being separate. If freethinkers.com was also included they could claim a holy trinity as confusing as xtianity. For all i know that's actually the goal.

@Renickulous Oh, poor you. Death is part of life. I know what eugenics is, I also know what hyperbole is. I'd like for you to be able to get pregnant and feel like all you are is some incubator for something you don't want, and be forced to endure the who process against your will. A fact of the matter is that humans are sexual creatures and birth control does fail. Just like trying to get pregnant can fail. Nothing in life guarantees fairness. Anyways, shutting notifications for this thread off. "Abortions are kinda like nipples. Everyone has them, but women's are more relavent than mens. But all you ever see are mens"

@Renickulous then you should be sad a lot. About 1/3 of fertilized eggs don't even result in a pregnancy long enough for the woman to realize she's pregnant, if they even attach to the uterine wall in the first place. Here is where we show our differences. A mass of undifferentiated cells is not a human. It actually has no "right" to be born. If a woman doesn't want to be pregnant she has a right not to be, whatever her reasons. That's actually neither your nor my business. I'm not going to argue abortion with you. I never said you were wrong, only that looking at a complex issue from only a single point of reference isn't the correct way to look at something if you want to understand the complexity of the issue. *So it's ok to kill someone if they are inconvenient?* tells me all I need to know about how this discussion will go.

@Renickulous yeah? Are they mad about the natural aborting of pregnancy's doing the same thing? Are they mad about the morning after pill? Are they mad that not all women/families have the capabilities to raise a special needs child? Reducing a complex, multifaceted issue into a single frame of reference does no one any good.

1of5 replies on Mar 26, 2019:
@snytiger6 I'm not opposed to the way it is, per say, and considering how even simple changes to the site seem to create 4 problems for every one fixed I can certainly sympathize with not wanting to change things. On the other hand I do think it'd cut down on redundant posting. Way back when one of the concepts here was combining even similar posts together to keep redundancy down. Then hashtags were supposed to do it, then it appears to have been abandoned with the "here's similar posts to what you're writing" feature that everyone ignores because they are rarely similar. So I expect no change on this, although I do think combining exact URL's would be of some benefit just to keep the discussion in 1 place. Although it's pretty common for only 1 posting of a link posted multiple times to have the majority of the discussion, so I may be wrong.

Plus, the bennies may be worth hanging around for if there's profit sharing and good health insurance.

You can do only what's right for your life, which I think has already been mentioned, but bears repeating. Some people need professional help. Not to go to far into it, but my ex suffered from a neurological disorder that very slowly (around 8 years) destroyed her mind. I thought staying and helping her was the best thing, and guilt...yada yada yada. Anyways, my thinking I was helping didn't, and it wasn't till I got out of there that she got the help she needed. It wasn't easy and she gave me scars I'll carry for the rest of my life.

It's almost like you think the psycobable in the bible is true, which is insane. @Roadster this is a list of what she doesnt miss (want), except many of her things are what happen in every relationship, and how they are handled is an indicator of how strong the relationship actually is. Some of them are seriously petty, and the whole thing is complaining (no mention of whose complaining about whom, though). It reads, to me, as an excuse not to have a relationship because no one can actually meet her criteria.

You should run that theory of Jesus being the sacrifice past current Jews, they'll get a good laugh out of it. Jesus, BTW, doesn't even tick off half the things the messiah is supposed to. There is still at least one Jewish sect that still performs animal sacrifices. But most see it as an outdated practice they don't need to do anymore for some reason. Ask them why.

@Aryn long ago (like, in the 1980's before writing was invented) there was a place in Seattle called the zoo tavern. No idea who they paid off to keep the cops away, but it was pretty awesome and we'll worth the cash on their end. All you had to be was low key and cool about it, but you could drink a pitcher of beer and pass around a joint/pipe at your table. Couldn't sell or buy it there, but damn it was nice.
